Yep, read the Books and watched the movies.

The Fellowship of the Ring was first published in 1955, I think.

Hi Manjot--basically LOTR is the sequel to "The Hobbit" If you go to this website, it will summarize "The Hobbit" (make sure you scroll down for the summary) and it has links at the bottom of the page for summaries for all 3 books in the LOTR series. Here's the website:

The books are excellent.. It does tend to get confusing sometimes. If thats the case, watch the movies. They're great too..

yeah the books are quite difficult to read b/c of all the weird names and locations, but they are manageable if you have the time and patience. The movies were GREAT and they did a good job of skimming the excess material without cutting out important details 😊

Very true Meera, Luvya4ever and Anju.

I saw the movie 1st and then read the books, which is unusual for me as I generally do it the other way round.

Its amazing how JRR Tolkein actually invented diff languages for the people of Middle Earth! http://www.glyphweb.com/arda/http://www.glyphweb.com/arda/👏

For true LOTR fanatics, this site is excellent: http://www.glyphweb.com/arda/
