BREAKING UP

We're not the first couple to break up
By no means will we be the last
Someone's heart will always be breaking
Unable to let go of the past.

Some can go on with no care in the world
While some others refuse to let go
They try to hang on to a love that has gone
Mixed emotions swing back to and fro.

They dwell only on good times, forget all the bad
The arguments, fights, tears erased
Forgetting the hurt that was placed in their hearts
When they knew they were being replaced.

I hope I will be a bigger person than that
To stand tall and just walk away
Not to cling to someone who dumped me
And to find a new love someday.
