Heylo

History flipped a page in its book when United States elected their first black president, Barack Obama! Now, he is going to start his term in office. Having promised so much change during his election campaigns, motivating people with the inspirational motto of "YES WE CAN" and coming by just gaining power during this time of economic uncertainty puts alot of pressure on Barack Obama. Would he handle the pressure and prove to be one of the greatest presidents ever?

What are your expectations of Obama? Do you think he'll make a good present and why?
Do you think he'll be able to solve the internal problems and turmoil facing his country?
How about fixing the severed ties between country?
Or be worried about North Korea and Iran and their nuclear conquests?
Or step in to solve Isreal-Palestine issues?

Clearly the new president has alot on his hands.. as citizens of the world, what are your concerns and comments on the situation and do you think he'll make history again for being successful!

I dont have high hopes for the external realations of the US especially those with the mid-east region. The US can never take a rational stand on the ME as taking a rational/unbaised stand would mean going against its foremost ally, Israel. Any resolution put forward by the Obama administration would be definitely pro-isreali and the people of Gaza will still be under the Isreali occupation for years to come.

WOOT!
I saw it while at work!
it was awesome! his speech was so nice and globally nice to every nation and every race! He made nice refrences to the past and to the future!
his best line was, "We are the US, we are friends of the world"....
Its true, this new administration will be friends of the world, not enemies...
Long live Peace!

I was watching the news and one of Obama's representatives said among the first issues to be tackled would be the Israel-Palestine conflict. I think the first step would be strengthening military enforcement in the region (US will probably side with Israel).

I did read Obama's biography, he's faced many adversities and faced them to become very sucessful. So I think he will give us his best and progress towards tackling most of the issues. He's chosen highly educated and qualified individuals to be part of his team (Harvard graduates) so at least we're prepared.

About North Korea, Iran and Pakistan I don't think he will take a defensive stand. He's said that if Pakistan is "unwilling or unable" to disband terrorism the US will go in and take over. I think he'll also try to dismantle nuclear weaponry in North Korea and Iran since it's in the interest of the US.

meena i feel the same way you do..sometimes I wish peace would rain instead of bullets or rockets.. Sometimes I think why do we even do these things as human beings...
But we can hope for change, i also do pray for those who are hurt in that region..
we will see what Mr. Obama will do, he seems to be more pro-active than the rest... Alot of world leaders are looking at him with open arms and ears now...We are in a new time..
Also your sig is really nice...Great words....😳.....love it.

Along with new economic policies, a new face brings about renewal and re-energized streams of international and domestic relations... both are important to move forward..
What i like about todays speech was the historic factors, and the representations of peace and how we are all equal..Alot of love today it was so nice.

I am kinda optimistic and skeptical at the same time.. I think US has always acted like a "big bully" in the ME.. and for once it should either mind its own business or take reasonable stand which isnt biased towards anyone.. Its always turned a blind eye on certain conflicts..
Hopefully Barrack Hussain Obama will bring about change..! We'll see as his policies unfold.
Iran is an issue no doubt about that. But I always wonder, if other countries in the ME can have Nuclear power, why cant they. They have the right to be armed just like US, Israel, India, Pakistan and other countries. Why is the whole world hell bent on disarming Iran's nuclear power.
Yes. the lyrics are lovely. 😳

ohh...ME = Middle east..I was like wowow! why is she talking about her self (ME...)lol..got it! I have freinds from Iraq, Iran, and the media gives those countries a bad rap sometimes...
You are right, the US has been a big bully, when I would travel to other countries, i stopped saying I was from the US after a while because the amount of comments I would get about the US was bad (some i agreed with bc of our last 8yrs)...
But from what im seeing and hearing from friends around the world, its a bit better today...
The reason why they dont want certain countries to have Nuclear power is due to couple reasons, "unstable governments", "Terrorist grass roots" or war crimes/illegal acts against UN laws for human rights.
I look at those reasons as excuses, but the best route (im not a genearl secretary here..😳)..is to give the UN/ international NGO watch groups more power to enforce rules and investigations for the smaller countries with less than stable governments. This will allow us to watch them while they develop thier programs and classifications of use. And we can use embargos and other economic policies to show punishments, but military should be the super last resort.... Also having those countries join international organizations like large economic agreements or summits will bring them and hold them to a standard in which we are all trualy equal (i.e. in EU union, not ever european country is in it, but when they join they do share equal power and have to keep up responsibilities per EU union when participating).
There are more than one way to do things in life...The route with peace and open minds usually end the best.

'terrorist states'.. State Terrorism is the most deadly form of terrorism as tht is supposedly leagal.. total nuisance.. ughhh..

Organizations like the UN and EU seem useless, mere figureheads, if you look at the present conditions and recent international activity. The UN couldnt stop America from invading Iraq.. it couldnt stop Israel from invading Gaza.. so what is it there for. While UN's top most ranking official was in Israel, Israeli troops bombed a UNRWA building in Gaza.. and what did the UN do.. "bad Israel, dont do that again"..
Imposing embargos.. soo embargo's were placed on Gaza in 2007 after Hamas took over.. and Israel took control of its coastline.. preventing anything from going into it.. But the funny thing is it was US and other countries that suggested Gaza have democratic elections and when they had themm Hamas won and they had issues with Hamas cuz it was against Israel.. there own proposed stretegy backfired..😕
