It was a cold November evening. The wind was blowing hard. It was a perfect night to end your life because there was no one about. I had dreamt so many times of this night. It was the night I was released from prison and when I went back to the love of my life. But she had betrayed me by replacing me with someone else. At the tower bridge I climbed onto the beam when...
"Are you sure you want to do that?"
Max turned around to see a girl with skin as white as milk and eyes as big as a doe's.
Max: go away.
Girl: How can I? Why don't you value the gift of life? Is it so worthless that you wish to end it?
Max: what do you know about life? You are young you still have your life ahead of you.
Girl: so do you. You don't look that old to me. What has gone wrong in your life that you want to end it?
Max: I was framed and sent to prison for a theft I didn't commit. I just got released and thought to myself finally I was going home to see my girl. But she had already replaced me with someone else. Apparently she didn't want to be in a relationship with a criminal.
Girl: you can start fresh. You think you have it tough you should see the people out there if u hear their stories then your problems might look small.
Max: how can I start fresh? Who will give me a job? You forget I have a record even that for theft.
Girl: Well I don't know about hiring but I can help you prove your innocence. I am Detective Salma Pollard. I was actually looking for you Max. I have reason to believe that the person who framed you is now framing my brother Sam. You may know him, Samir Pollard.
Max: Sam... Omg he is a good guy why would anyone to frame him?
Salma: That's why I need your help. Are you willing to help me?
Max: yeah I guess that would give me something to do. I do however need somewhere to stay.
Salma: you can stay at my apartment. I have a spare room you can use and as for work if you are willing to wait tables I guess my big sis could give you a job.
Max: if you set up an interview with her I'll be grateful and once I get a job I'll pay you rent.
Salma: yeah sure. I think you should get of that ledge before you accidently fall off.
Max gets off the ledge and walks toward Salma. They walk to her midnight black Ferrari.
Max: wow you must earn a lot to afford this car.
Salma: actually it's a gift from my sisters. They figured since I was a detective I deserved a fast car so on my birthday they got me this car.
Max: They must love you a lot.
Salma: yeah more than any blood sisters of mine would if I had any blood sisters.
Max: what... you mean you guys are not related by birth?
Salma: no of course not. Baji is oldest and runs the most popular restaurant in town. Any guesses which one it is?
Max: No way... you are telling me you are pals with the owner of Planet Blue Cafe. No wonder you drive a Ferrari. I mean she drives a sleek blue Lamborghini.
Salma: [chuckles] and if you knew how many times I have booked her for speeding you'd wonder why she still has the car.
Max: so who are the other three sisters?
Salma: well there is soap director Jouty. I'm sure you know the famous singer Micky Yoochun.
Max: yeah I have met him a couple of times.
Salma: yeah his wife is my sister. Then there is Dr Sara Young, and famous songwriter Naina.
Max: looks like all your sisters are famous. No wonder you drive this baby.
Salma: yeah... I'm the only one with a blue collar job.
Max: I'm sure they don't think that. I bet they are proud of you.
Salma is about to answer when her mobile starts chirping. She presses the answer button.
Salma: Pollard...
Voice from mob: oi sallu... what u doing pollard pollard... I'm your sister not your boss
Salma: with the way you lecture you sound fiercer then my boss.
Voice from mob: ok ok... calm down just wanted to know if you could come down every one is here and I made Black forest gateaux
Max: mmm yummy
Salma: shut up
Voice from mob: ooo girls Sallu has a guy... so sallu spill
Salma: KC Baji shut up... I'm bringing Max over. Remember I told you about him
KC: ok ok... see you in awhile... love u mwahs
Salma: mwahs
Max: so I presume that was the owner of Planet Blue cafe.
Salma: yeah she is the best... hasn't had much luck with love... but her master chef Yunho has not given up on her yet
Max: wow I would love to see those 2 go head to head.
They continue to talk, learning about each other and in no time they are at the Planet Blue cafe. The place is booming and there is a long queue.
Max: how are we supposed to get in? Have you seen the queue?
Salma: max you forget I know the owner... but watch and learn...
Salma walks up to one of the bouncers.
Salma: hey Carl... table for...
Carl: they are all there including Mr Chef... you better get in b4 the boss commits a crime and murders the chef.
Salma: Max lets go...
They walk into the cafe and go straight to the back only to find KC chasing her chef with a butcher's knife.
KC: [screaming] I'm going to fire you... idiot... it's your night off get out of my cafe...
Yunho: [pleading] but Sara invited me...
KC: [fiercely] well after I slay you I shall go slay her... now go
Yunho: [gently] come on KC please... I want to have dinner with your friends...
KC: [contemplates then angrily] grrrrrrrrrrr... you wait... I'm going to hurt u where it hurts the most... I'll go find Bambi... and maybe I'll bribe her.
Yunho: [shocked and scared] no not my Bambi... I love her...
KC: [evilly] then u'll go... [She swings the butcher's knife]
Yunho: [gulps] ok... let me go make my excuses...
Salma: [steps up to KC removing the knife from her hand] Baji you do know I can arrest you for running after Yunho with a potential weapon.
KC: [sarcastically] yeah yeah... he enjoyed it
Yunho: [puppy eyes with crocodile tears] no I didn't Salma maybe you should arrest her... she could have killed me or even worse cut of important parts of my body...
KC: [raises an eyebrow] such as you dick...
Yunho: [disgusted] no my hands... I create magic with my hands... people love my food if you had hurt my hands then your cafe would go broke...
Salma: [smiles] he is right technically... so Yunho do you want me to arrest her?
Yunho: [smiles slyly] yeah go on... I'm going to press charges for harassment out of work.
Salma: [Turns to KC] you have the right to remain silent anything you do say may be used as evidence in court against you [she turns KC round and cuffs her]
KC: [shocked] you have got to be joking...
Salma: Let's go... btw Yunho fill in everyone else... max you come with me
Salma leads KC out to her Ferrari and puts her in the back. She and Max get into the car and Salma drives to the police station. When they get to the police station Salma gets KC out and takes her in. She hands her over to an officer and tells her to lock her up.
KC: [scared] please don't to this... Salma... please...
Salma: [cold] sorry I am doing my job... [Walks out of the station]
Max: [follows her] wow you sure know how to turn on and off...
Salma: [turns tears in her eyes] no I don't... I may look like I am doing my job but its breaking my heart because I know my Baji is claustrophobic and I can't do anything about it.
Max: [concerned] Call Yunho and tell him... maybe he'll spring her... you said he loves her...
Salma: [crying] I can't... I am the arresting officer...
Max: fine... I'll do it give me your phone.
Salma: [takes out her personal mobile] here... jus press 9 and the call button.
Max takes the phone from Salma and makes the call while Salma walks away.
Yunho: Planet Blue chef Yunho speaking
Max: [shouts] get your stupid back side to the police station and drop those charges or your love will end up in hospital with an anxiety attack.
Yunho: huh
Max: [gently] Yunho I think you have had your fun... come on come down and drop the charges...
Yunho: I shall see... [Puts the phone down and turns to Sara who is standing next to him] is your sister scared of something?
Sara: [thinks about it then suddenly] aw man... sugar Yunho she is claustrophobic...
Yunho: [shocked] what... I'm outta here
Yunho gets into his car and drives straight to the police station. As he comes out he finds Salma standing near her car with Max standing next to her. He jogs up to them.
Yunho: (sadly) sorry Salz... if I knew I wouldn't have put u in this position.
Salma: It's k. Just go get her out.
Yunho goes in and gets KC released from jail. Outside Salma waits in anticipation for KC to walk out and a few minutes later KC comes out looking pale but with rage burning in her eyes. She walks straight up to Salma.
KC: [looks sternly at Salma with tears in her eyes] just stay out of my way... [Turns to Yunho] I thought... never mind what I thought... I guess I was wrong... [She walks away]
Salma: [runs after her] Baji I'll drop you...
KC: I don't need your help... just go away... I have legs I can walk home.
Salma: Baji please...
KC: Salma I need time alone... Please I'll walk home...
Salma: Baji I was just doing my job...
KC: I know... see you around...
[KC walks down the road when a black van comes speeding down and screeches right beside KC. Two masked men grab her and the van speeds off leaving a shocked Salma, max and Yunho behind]
Salma: [reacts first] BAJI....
Max: [comes speeding down] what the hell happened?
Salma: [looks at Max] I think my Baji just got kidnapped.
Yunho: [guiltily] this is all my fault... if I hadn't pressed those stupid charges she would never have been in this mess.
Salma: [puts a hand on Yunho's arm] this is no random kidnapping it has been planned maybe they adjusted the plan but it has been planned. [She whips out her mobile and dials her aides number] Murray get to the station ASAP we have a kidnapping to solve. [Turns to Max] I think you should go home Yunho will drop you. Here are the keys. Stay there and if anyone calls just press the red button under my phone and it'll connect to me at my desk. Max no heroics understood.
Max: [salutes Salma] yes ma'am
Salma: [smiles] Smarty pants... now go... Yunho drop him home and go inform the others. Tell them if they hear anything to call me and I think Hero should stay at KC's apartment in case there is anything.
Yunho: yes boss.
Salma goes back to the police station while Yunho drops Max to Salma's apartment. Max goes into the apartment and looks around. After checking out his surroundings he decides to do some work to help Salma's investigation. After 2 hours of searching on the internet and breaking through firewalls to obtain figures from the company the phone rings.
Max: [absentmindedly] Hello
Baddie: Listen up mate... we have your friend and the cop's brother... Tell you cop friend to stop this investigation otherwise she will find 2 bodies on their door step.
Salma: you coward I am listening... and I shall take you all down for the cowards that you are.
Baddie: drop it for mourn the deaths of you near and dear...
[The line goes dead]
Max: Salma... these guys are serious... they could kill your brother and KC.
Salma: I know... but I can't let them know we are scared.
Max: yeah I know but that means they think we don't care about KC and Sam.
Salma: I'm having the call traced just now. I'll speak to you later. Bye
Max: wait ... I have been working on helping you with the investigation. I have found that the money I was framed for stealing was transferred from the company account to an offshore account in Austria. I have emailed the account number to you maybe you can have someone find out whose name that account is under. There is another off shore account I just have to find it and maybe we will be able to clear your brother.
Salma: Thank you Max. You have been a great help. If you get anything else jus email it to me and please stay out of trouble.
Max: Yes I will don't worry. You take care bye
Salma: bye
They both hang up and Max gets back to work to find out more information on the other account. Meanwhile at the police station Salma is now trying to calm her 3 worried sisters.
Salma: come-on Dee you know I was doing my job.
Naina: Salma that was not even funny... I mean arresting Baji because of Yunho even that when you were off duty...
Jouty: Naina give her a break... it's done now let's help get Baji back. Salma fill us in.
Salma: well this is a planned kidnapping. These people know that if they had just kidnapped Sam it wouldn't hit me that hard because my brother is trained in martial arts but now that they have KC Baji they know neither I nor Sam is going to take any risks.
Sara: did you trace the call?
Salma: yeah it was made from the phone booth just across the street and the CCTV camera has been disabled.
Naina: what about the offshore account?
Salma: shhhh... you guys chief will skin me alive... you know I put my career on the line leaking the info to you guys. The offshore account belongs to Mr Akaash Nanda.
Sara: Akaash... omg...
Jouty: but why would he do that to Max and now Sam?
Salma: well at the moment he is our top suspect and tomorrow morning Murray and I plan to visit him.
Naina: I just want our Baji back... she must be pretty scared.
Sara: yeah her claustrophobia must really be kicking in.
Salma: I just home Sam is there with her and that they are not apart...
"We have a homicide on Salam court, Victim found outside Mr Yunho Jung's House and identified as Miss Fatemah Kassamali"
Salma: [shouts] Murray let's move... [Turns to her three shocked sisters] you guys can follow if you want. I'll call the guys once I get in the car. One of them can pick Max up.
Sara: [gasps] it's not true... Baji can't die...
Salma: Sara Dee pleases... I need to go check... do you want me to get someone to drive u there?
Jouty: [with tears streaming down her face she takes charge] yeah Salma I think you shud get us a cab or something. Sara is in no state to drive. And I hope you will also not be driving.
Salma: you can ride with officer Parks in his car and I'll go with Murray
They all leave the police station and get to Salam court where they find Yunho sitting next to the corpse. Sara, Naina and Jouty run to him and once all three have seen the face its hits home that their big sister has left them. Salma comes up behind and looks at the face.
Salma: [Cold voice] how did it happen?
Officer: looks like she had a severe anxiety attack and her heart couldn't take it. It looks like a heart failure.
Yunho: [tear ravaged face in a furious voice] then I should be dead too because her heart is connected to mine. Her heart can't fail.
Salma: guys I need you to move the paramedics are here and so are the guys.
Naina: [gasp] wait guys... she took a breath [eyes side] I just saw it...SHE IS NOT DEAD
Junsu walks up and hugs her
Junsu: [whisper] I am sorry baby come on let the paramedics look at her
Naina: [screaming] I am not seeing things [points at KC] look she just took another breath...
Paramedic: please everyone move back let me see what is going on.
They all move away. Salma walks away not able to bear the pain crushing her chest.
Salma: [thinking] this is all my fault. I should have gone undercover to conduct this investigation. Now because of me Baji is dead.
Behind her Max comes and puts his hand on her shoulder. Salma turns around and looks into Max's eyes.
Max: It's not your fault. You were just doing your job.
Salma: I know I was just doing my job but it's not supposed to affect the people I care about and it's certainly not supposed to kill my sister.
Max: Salma sometimes thing are just meant to be. It was KC's time to go and whether it was an anxiety attack or a gunshot death only needed an excuse.
Salma: [tears] yeah but she was young... she had never been happy... I really thought when Yunho came to work with her she would find the happiness she deserved.
Max: [takes Salma in his arms] Hey maybe she wasn't meant to experience love in this life or maybe the almighty decided she had gone through enough. [Stroking Salma's hair] All we can do now is give her the best farewell she deserves and remember the happy times you spent with her.
Salma: I guess I need time to come to terms with it. There will be so much to do and...
Max: just take your time and calm down... first we have to find these people before they kill your brother.
Salma: yeah we do... let's go I think the paramedics are about to take her away.
Max: are you going to be ok?
Salma: [smiles slightly] yeah thanks... Max ... never mind
Max: you can trust me with anything. Whatever you are doing is going to clear my record.
Salma: like I said it's my job. Anyways let's go...
They walk back to the paramedics to see KC hooked up to an oxygen tank. Salma looks at Sara enquiringly
Sara: she's in a critical condition. Baji has been having cardiac arrests that why at first we thought she was dead. All we can now do is pray that her heart survives.
Salma: do we know how much damage her heart has sustained?
Micky: no we don't but once we get to the hospital and they do the necessary tests we will know.
Max: Sara you are a doctor right? What are the chances?
Sara: I want to say they are high... but because of how long she was like that the chances are pretty low. Unless we get a heart in for her we are looking at a possible coma.
Salma: well I have to get back to the station. Keep me informed and if there is anything I can do just let me know.
Hero: [concerned] Salma will you be ok?
Salma: yes hero jiju... I will be fine... I'm going to find the b******* who did this and lock them up for a very long time.
Junsu: Salma you can't make it personal otherwise you could get removed from the investigation and that means that we won't have information that may come in handy.
Salma: you guy's please no heroics... If you want to help go to the hospital and stay with your partners.
Junsu: what about Max?
Salma: max is coming with me... I need his help.
Sara: are you going to Akaash tomorrow?
Salma: yes Murray and I are going I will keep you informed. I hope we can find some clues tonight.
Jouty: good luck... I think we'll go to the hospital now.
Salma and Max leave for the police station while the rest go to the hospital. At the police station Salma put max in a room with computers and signed him on to her network.
Salma: you can do your research and access any information u need.
Salma turns to leave and head for her office when Max grabs her hand.
Max: Salz don't stress yourself... get some rest you have an interview tomorrow.
Salma: [smiles] just shows what you know about a cop... Our sleep is a luxury that we indulge in on quiet days.
Max: I know that but if you look at yourself in the mirror then you'll see why I am telling you to get rest. I don't want you to fall over with fatigue.
Salma: ok I'll grab some sleep later on.
As the night passes Max works on what he can find and then heads to find Salma and forces her to sleep. The next day Salma and Murray go to see Akaash only to find that he has left to go to china on a business trip. As the month of November passes Salma works on every angle to solve the case while KC slips into a coma. Max and Salma work closely together to uncover the identity of the second account holder and the more time they spend together brings them closer together. They ate their meals together and as the time went on max got know Salma on a more personal level.
In the first week of December Salma finally gets her break when Akaash returns from his business trip. Salma, Murray and Max go to Akaash's 6 million dollar mansion to interview him. Max stays in Salma's car listening to the interview.
Salma: Mr Nanda we have information that you hold an offshore account in Austria. Is this true?
Akaash: no
Salma: well it is in your name and the money one of your employee's was supposed to have stolen has turned up in that account. If that account is in your name then sure you know something about it?
Akaash: I am telling you I don't know what you are talking about.
Murray: isn't it true that you visited Austria on your way back from your business trip in china?
Akaash: yes I did. I needed a little recuperation.
Murray: well sir... we have the bank records on that offshore account and the record shows that you have used money from that account.
Akaash: [getting angry and shouts] I TOLD YOU I DON'T KNOW
Salma: Mr Nanda, calm down... do you know that when a person is lying they sweat and their heart rate increases. Right now Mr Nanda you are sweating like a pig. So do both of us a favour and tell me the truth otherwise I shall be arresting you on Max's statement and then you won't get a deal from me.
Akaash: what does max know? He's a puny accountant.
Salma: [laughs] not anymore... he has toughened up.
Akaash: [sneers] if he knew anything then he would have said it in court. You are just trying to make me say things.
Salma: ahh so you are hiding something.
Akaash: you will never make me speak... now if you don't mind I have work to do.
Salma: yeah sure... but be sure of one thing Mr. Nanda this afternoon I will be coming in with your arrest warrant.
Akaash: dream all you want detective.
Salma and Murray make their way to the door. Murray opens the door just as Salma is about to exit.
Salma: [turns around] btw Mr. Nanda... your accomplice confessed last night and that is why your arrest warrant will be in this afternoon.
Akaash: [shocked] No... Natasha would never have confessed. It's not true... you are lying... Her account was untraceable. I made sure of it.
Salma: well you certainly did not try hard enough. Mr Nanda you are under arrest for fraud and theft. You have the right to remain silent however if you do or say anything it may be used against you in court as evidence. Murray cuff him and bring him to the police station.
Murray: yes sir.
Murray cuffs Akaash and takes him to the car. Salma follows them and indicates to Max to follow them to the station. When they get to the station Akaash is taken to an interview room where Salma and Murray interrogate him. Akaash asks for his lawyer and his lawyer comes for the interrogation.
Salma: Mr Nanda will you tell us where you have taken Mr Sam Pollard. He has been kidnapped and been in the custody of the kidnappers for over a month.
Akaash: I am not surprised that Natasha blamed that one on me as well but I honestly don't know where they are keeping him. If I did I would tell you so I could negotiate with you but the kidnapping was up to Natasha.
Salma: what about Miss Fatemah Kassamali?
Akaash: she wasn't supposed to die. Those idiots Natasha hires are so incompetent.
Salma: well now u have murder on your hands as well.
Akaash: I never told her to kill anyone... That wasn't part of the plan... you can't pin murder on me.
Salma: well the jury will decide that one. This interview is terminated at 13:07.
Salma leaves the interrogation room and heads to her office. Max stands up the minute he sees her. Her face is pale and the dark circles under her eyes are more noticeable.
Max: hey... you don't look so good.
Salma: Because of these criminals my Baji is in hospital fighting for her life and my brother could be dead. I'm going for a maximum sentence. They will pay for this pain.
Max: [gathers Salma in his arms] what you need right now is some rest and a hot shower.
Salma: [leans her forehead into max's chest] I know but I have to keep looking for Natasha... If we don't find her we will never find Sam.
Max: Salz look at me... [putting his finger under her chin he lifts it so that their eyes meet] we will find Sam but ur mind needs to be clear... and right now I suggest a shower and a nap.
Salma: [smiles] I never thought there would be someone who would be so concerned about me. Thank you Max for being there. I wish I had help and support like yours for each one of my cases.
Max: what makes you think I plan on leaving? Now that I have found you I plan on staying and sticking close by... I'm not going to lose you. Now go home get a shower and sleep and I'll be there in an hour... I'll pass by the hospital and see how KC is doing. [He drops a quick kiss on her for head and turns her around towards the door giving her a gentle push towards it] go...
Salma: [laughs] ok boss... see you later...
Salma goes home while Max goes to the hospital where Jaejoong, Junsu, Yunho and Yoochun were waiting for him. They all gathered in the cafeteria while Sara sat with KC.
Max: Thank you Yunho... I know how hard it is for you to stay away from her but it is imperative that we look for Natasha ourselves. Even though Salma is trying this woman is as slippery as an eel.
Yoochun: but how do we find her?
Max: well she knows now that I know who she is... I have to contact her and then we set a trap and call Salma... so that when Natasha falls into the trap she can arrest her.
Yunho: I am all for it... so what's the plan?
Jaejoong: are you sure this is wise? Salma will be hauling our back sides into lockup if she finds out.
Junsu: but we are helping her and besides we are doing this for KC noona. Look at what they did to her. She needs to be punished.
Max: so we are together on this?
Yunho: count me in...
Junsu: me too
Yoochun: ok I'll help
Jaejoong: I still think we will get into trouble but hey... it can't be that bad. Well I hope it's not that bad. So what's the plan?
Max explains the plan to guys and they all set out to get the plan into motion. Jaejoong keeps the girls company at the hospital while Yoochun and Junsu go to get the video equipment. Max and Yunho go to Yunho's apartment and start making the necessary calls for the equipment they need. They all meet up 2 hours later outside Yunho's apartment.
Yoochun: is this the van?
Max: yeah it is. Yunho and I have set all the recording equipment in there. So are we ready?
Yoochun: yeah... Junsu and I will go back to the hospital so that the girls don't become suspicious. If they ask about Yunho we'll say we put him to sleep.
Max: great... when we are done we'll call you guys. I pray this plan succeeds.
Junsu: yah it will... now lets get moving.
Max: okies so let's roll... see you guys later...
Yoochun and Junsu head back to the hospital while Yunho and Max head off to Natasha's apartment. When Max and Yunho get outside her apartment Max calls her from his mobile.
Natasha: Hello...
Max: Natasha... this is Max
Natasha: Max who Max?
Max: I am hurt that you have forgotten who I am. You sent me to jail remember for laundering 2 million dollars. Now does that ring any bells?
Natasha: Oh it's you... what do you want?
Max: well you do know that Akaash has been caught and he has blamed it all on you. I figured you'd want a heads up.
Natasha: That arrogant so and so... wait till I get my hands on him.
Max: I think you are better off leaving the country then getting your hands on him or he could charge you for attempted murder or assault.
Natasha: that's a good idea... but how do I know that this is not a trap?
Max: I know it was Akaash who transferred the money and that he is blaming you. I always thought you were too sweet to be his business partner and I don't want you to be framed like he framed me.
Natasha: aw max you are so sweet. Thanks for the heads up. Maybe one bay we'll meet up.
Natasha hangs up and makes a call straight after. In the van...
Yunho: Max where did u learn how to hack into secure websites?
Max: the less you know the better. They teach you a lot in jail and when I was released I had planned to bring these guys down but my girl friend had already replaced me and I was heartbroken. I guess if it hadn't been for Salma I would have been dead and Salma's Brother would have been in jail and KC would not be fighting for her life. Anyways someone's picked up on the other side lets listen and get these co-ordinates to where she is calling.
Yunho and Max listen to Natasha's conversation and record it. They also get the co-ordinates to where the phone call has been made to and after the conversation Max calls Salma.
Salma: [groggily] hello
Max: I think I know where your brother is
Salma: [now fully awake] where are you Max?
Max: outside Natasha's apartment... Let me give you the address. You may also want to alert security at all the airports. Bus stations and train stations about Natasha. She may try and escape tonight. Oh and send a unit down here as well. So they can keep an eye on her.
Salma: [while putting on her clothes] how do you know all this?
Max: I just know... The more time you waste with questions the better chance she has of escaping. I'll see you outside that warehouse.
Salma: Max just take care.
Max: I'll see you at the ware house.
Max hangs up and waits with Yunho for the police unit to come before they can leave for the warehouse.
Yunho: you love her don't u?
Max: [turns looking confused] what? Who?
Yunho: [laughs] Salma you monkey
Max: [mummers] no I don't
Yunho: [cheekily] yeah yeah... we all know how much time you guys have been spending together.
Max: just to solve this case.
Yunho: the sir doth protest too much...
Max: Yunho jus shut it... the unit is here lets go to the ware house.
Yunho: ok don't get your knickers in a twist...
Max and Yunho drive to the ware house and wait for Salma to get there. Five minutes later the door of the ware house opens and out come three armed men. One of the armed men was dragging a hooded man by the arm towards a black van.
Max: we need to distract them... any ideas?
Yunho: uh... no unless you have a gun....
Max: Get Salma on the phone and tell her they are moving... I'll go distract them...
Yunho: Max wait...
Max gets out of the car and heads towards the men.
Max: [looking all innocent] excuse me...
The kidnappers turn around with their guns aimed at Max.
Max: [steps back] whoa... I was just going to ask for directions... I am kind of lost so I need to get out of here...
Kidnapper 1: where do u want to go?
Max: uhh see my boyfriend and I were going to see his parents and they gave us this address but I haven't passed a single house... it's just a ware house's for miles....
Kidnapper 2: why don't you ask you boyfriend?
Max: well see they moved recently... so my boyfriend doesn't know where the new house is.
Just then Yunho joins Max....
Yunho: so...
Max: Yunnie boo... they were just about to give us the directions [grabs Yunho's hand]
Yunho: [looks shocked] address...
Max: [making eyes at Yunho] yeah to you parent's house... sweetie we are going there remember...
Yunho: [smiles at Max] of course I remember Maxi... it's just that my brain is still sleeping darling...
Kidnapper 1: stop you guys are making me sick... give me the address and I'll give you directions.
Max gives the Kidnapper a far away address and it takes the kidnapper awhile to figure out the directions. Meanwhile Yunho is whispering furiously to Max.
Yunho: yunnie boo... yunnie boo... do I look like a yunnie boo to you...
Max: I had to think on my feet... if I had just said we were friends they would have blasted us to hell... this way they don't think of us as a threat...
Yunho: the guys better not hear about this...
Max: and who is going to tell them?
Kidnapper 1: here you are... we have drawn a map... here you go.
Max moves forward when suddenly...
"POLICE FREEZE... DROP YOUR WEAPONS AND PUT YOUR HANDS UP... YOU ARE SURROUNDED"
Max: thank god she made it...
Suddenly shots start to fly and Yunho jumps on Max stop him getting hit.
Max: what the hell is going on?
Yunho: the kidnappers started firing...
Max: Omg let me up... Salma could get hit...
Yunho: relax max... she's a cop... She'll be ok...
Max: no... She won't stop at anything... [Max struggles to get away from Yunho. They tussle on the ground. Yunho tries his best to keep Max down but in the end Max gets away and runs towards the police cars...]
Salma: MAX GET DOWN...
Max is hit by a bullet on his right shoulder and goes down....
Salma: MAX... Civilian down... get an ambulance... I'm going to get him.
Murray: [pulls Salma back] no way... they'll hit you... can't you see bullets are still flying
Salma: but he'll die... let go of me and that's an order
Murray: no way... your orders don't count when you put yourself in danger.
Salma: Let me go... [She kicks Murray and when his grip loosens she pulls herself and runs towards max]
Salma runs towards Max dodging bullets while Yunho shouts for her to get down. What feels like years takes only a few seconds. Finally she is there and see's that he's still breathing. Salma takes Max's head and places it on her lap...
Salma: don't you dare leave me... otherwise I will haunt you... [Tears in her eyes] say something Max... tell me what a fool I am that I ran to you while bullets are being exchanged... Max please... [She starts sobbing] The ambulance will be here soon and so will back up... and if you die then KC Baji will never forgive you or me... Max please
Max: [opens his eyes] I love you Salma [closes his eyes again and slips into unconsciousness]
Salma: MAX....
As the gun battles quiets down Salma is still sitting there with Max's head in her lap oblivious to her surroundings. As the kidnappers are apprehended and Sam untied the paramedics rush towards Max.
Paramedic 1: Ma'am you need to move please...
Salma: [looks dazed] huh!!!
Paramedic 2: why don't you come with me Ma'am... and let my friend here check your friend out...
Yunho: [comes running towards Salma] are you ok? Where is Max?
Paramedic 2: Do you know her?
Yunho: yeah this is Detective Salma Pollard... and that guy there is Max...
Paramedic 2: Why don't you come with me and Salma and maybe we can get Salma out of her shock...
Yunho: what about Max? He will be ok right?
Paramedic 2: we will try to do our best
Yunho goes with the paramedic and Salma and they get Salma out of shock... Once Salma is out of shock she rushes to the ambulance where Max is being loaded...
Salma: [whispers] is he... is he....
Paramedic 1: he is alive... but we need to get him to hospital... do you want to ride with us?
Salma: yeah sure... [Turns to Yunho standing behind her] tell Murray that I'll meet him at the station later and Sam that I'll wait for him at the hospital
Yunho: Ok Salma... Take care and see you at the Hospital...
Salma gets in the back of the ambulance and rides to the hospital. Max is taken for an emergency surgery to remove the bullet. The gang all spilt up between sitting with KC and waiting with Salma. Finally after three hours the surgery is a success. The Doctor informs Salma that even though Max has lost blood his condition is stable.
Salma: when can I see him Doctor?
Doc: just now... he should be in the private ward the nurse here will take you...
Salma goes with the nurse to Max's room... he lays there pale with a drip attached to his arm. She goes and sits next to him takes his hand in hers...
Salma: so... you decided to end up here... Max please wake up...
Salma sits there the whole night talking to Max. During the night Sara, Naina and Jouty come to sit with her. Sam also comes to sit with her for awhile before heading home.
The next morning.... Max opens his eyes and the pain hits him with force. As he looks around he see's Salma asleep on the chair next to the bed with her head resting next to their entwined hands.
Max: Salma... [He shakes their hands] Salma.... wake up
Salma's eyes open and she she's max awake and hugs him tightly
Max: [groans] ouch...
Salma: [moves away] oh sorry... I forgot you were hurt... how are you feeling? Do you need anything? Should I call the doctor? Of course I should... wait here... don't move I'll go get him...
Max: Salma relax... I am ok... yes I am in pain... and I have already pressed the call button... the doctor should be here just now...
Salma: I'm so glad you are ok... they caught the kidnappers... and Sam is ok... [The light goes out of her eyes] but Baji is still in a coma....
Max: she will be ok... come here... but be gentle please...
Salma hugs Max... burying her face in his neck...
Salma: I thought I was going to lose you... don't you ever do that again...
Max: I promise I'll try never to get shot at again....
Salma: [Moves away from Max] Max... you know before you became unconscious you said something... do you remember what you said?
Max: [looks into her eyes] that I love you...
Salma: yeah...did you mean that?
Max: Salma of course I did... you have become my life... I would be incomplete without you... in fact I was going to ask you to marry me...
Salma: [tears of happiness in her eyes] aw Max... I love you too... I thought I lost you ... I would have died if I had lost you...
Max: hey... don't cry...
Salma: they are tears of happiness....
Max: [Takes Salma's hand] I know this isn't the most romantic place and I don't have the ring yet... but I don't see any reason in wasting time. Salma... My heart... My life... My love... will you marry me?
Salma: oh Max yes I will....
Max pulls Salma into his arms and their lips meet in a tender kiss that turns passionate. They lose awareness of their environment. After what seems like seconds a cough interrupts them... they jump apart and see Yunho and Jaejoong standing at the door.
Yunho: maybe we should come back later....
Salma: [blushing] no you guys stay here... I'll go see Baji...
Yunho: [his face changes and turns grave] actually that's why we came... Salma she's not doing that well and the Doctor doesn't think she'll make it... in fact he has given up hope... and has given us the option to switch off the machine... since you and your sisters are her family we thought it would be up to you...
Salma: [hearing all this sits down on the chair] how am I supposed to kill her? How am I supposed to take your love away from you Yunho? How can you even ask me to do that?
Max: Salma is right... I don't think the girls can decide because they will forever feel the guilt that they took her away from you. I mean she survived those arrests how do you know she won't come out of the coma. Have some faith.
Jaejoong: I think you should go them Salma...
Salma walks towards KC's room and hears laughter coming from the room. She rushes to see KC sitting up and chatting to Sara, Jouty and Naina. KC looks up to see Salma standing at the door.
KC: [holds out her arms] sallu aren't you going to say hello?
Salma runs to her Baji's arms and hugs her tightly.
KC: are you crying?
Salma: do you know what they told me... they told me that you were dying and that we had to remove the machine.... they ... they...
KC: who made my princess cry? Come on tell me....
Salma: Yunho and JJ jiju...
KC: let them come... esp. that Yunho...
Yunho: what did I do now?
Yunho is standing at the door with Jaejoong next to him pushing Max in his wheel chair.
KC: why did you make my sister cry?
Yunho: sorry Salma but this was Jaejoong's idea.
Jaejoong: [looking shocked] me... me... [Looks at everyone] he's lying...
Max: they both cooked up this idea... and since most of you are here [holding his hand out to Salma. She goes to him] Salma and I have some good news...
Salma: yeah. ..We are engaged... max and I are getting married.
KC: congrats... wow that is good news... may you always be happy...
Naina: awwwwwwwwwwwwwww finally... Salma getting married
Jouty: Congratulations guys... Let me know if you need help
Sara: Congrats... yea if you need help jus shout...
Salma leans down and kisses Max while Yunho whistles and the girls laugh. They live happily ever after.
