You might not be the odd one in this case because I remember many people not liking the choice of the song..if I correctly remember..But from where I saw, the exact moment in the scene where Raghav has a smile on his face (before that he was frowning in anger and somewhat of a shock..it was a huge tamasha she pulled off infront of people who mattered to him at that point, his family and business clients) is where the song starts playing.. the smile was more like acknowledging your adversary of a fine and decisive move they played against you that you cannot help but appreciate, even if you hate him/her for it.. ''ek dil hai,ek jaan hai, dono tujhpe qurbaan'' hai doesn't have a romantic connotation to it in the context of this particular scene, more like a one rival bowing in admiration of the brilliant move played by his adversary..
That's a really interesting take on the song. If I'm honest, I'd have made peace with the song in isolation, but I disliked Pallavi's speech so much, I guess I was primed to dislike the whole sequence. I understood why she said what she was saying, and that the message came across loud and clear to Raghav, but the dialogue seemed so heavy handed, and lacked the nuance I wanted. Like, if I was one of the guests to the party, I'd have judged this girl so hard. I much preferred the silent conversation between Raghav and Pallvi throughout the sringaar sequence, which I've often rewatched on mute 😆
But I never thought of the lines in the way you described in bold, so I'll give it another shot, and try to read it in that sense!

I guess the song they played at reception. Ek dil ek jaan has all the lyrics about respecting your partner..Shaan hai tu, maan hai tu...and that was what Pallavi was demanding from Raghav by making him adorn all the suhagan items publicly. Not a secret forced wedding but public acceptance of her with respect, which she compelled him to do , by not exposing him but holding him on tight leash where he cannot refuse anything publicly.
The song was apt in my opinion ...because even Raghav with all his hatred back then admired her guts at each step...and she also made him put red chunni on her head which is a sign of respect for her dignity .. ..he always enjoys her dongiri.
I think the songs are not meant in the original context of the movie they are from but rather from the lyrics and meaning if the song. Even Tera Chehra had a very different picturization ..but is used in this show based on lyrics .
Just my two cents or POV...🤗
I wasn't imagining the movie context, because I've not seen the movie 😆 (any of the movies from which they've features songs, actually, which works out great for me exactly for the reasons you mentioned about focusing on the lyrics)
Vaishali shared a similar interpretation of the lyrics, and honestly, you both have made it make so much more sense to me 🤣 I guess I'll enjoy it much more in the next rewatch! (I'll still be skipping the speech though :P)
Is it?? I thought this was a tb pic from the episode where Pallavi have a outbreak after Raghav's apology.

Yes I thought he would let Farhad be around her. Just yesterday he said no one can leave home but I guess he thought D house to be safe zone as far as Ved is concerned.
Late comment, but he did ask Pallavi to tell aai to come to the mansion, but morning me aai refuses due to VD fever. Ab last moment, he doesn't have any option other than letting her go. Also Ved ko sunny ne sab bataya otherwise usko thodi kuchh Pata tha

I realize that because the song was picturized in a totally different circumstance, a very passionate and romantic setting, it doesn't go with the scene but I didn't mind it 1.)because I love the song 2.) I co-related the word qurbaan with the what everything i said in my original post which is why i din't find it so out of place.. and Sai and Shivangi's expression throughout the singaar scene was quite good..I enjoyed it. Dialogues...hmm don't remember much right now, maybe they were heavy handed and could've been better written but I felt Raghav deserved this public humiliation after what he did infront of her entire family..She didn't care about how his family and his guests would judge her or Raghv just like he didn't when he put up a grand show infront of her family..actually he wasn't humiliated rather made to understand that while he may think that the situation is under his control, he is not the one pulling the strings..quite the other way round actually..blackmailing her into the marriage, getting his family back he may think he got everything he wanted but he will know soon that he is neck deep in the shit as much as she is.. this was the only time I felt, the promo actually played out how it was shown..
When the show started... Initial days I felt she looks a bit like pooja hegde
