Sachin was impressive in his dish in the auction challenge..then potato wedges in food truck..taco idea was good ..he is trying to rise above mediocrity..money thing in food truck was a big blunder but taste wise no complains ..in blind relay and the one with Nazia he maintained his cool composure n clear thought process..

I think both Sachin and Aruna got very good teams, poor Deepa had to have Suvarna in her team.
Sachin was smart in choosing a desert since he knew that is Nayanjyoti and Priyanka’s strength. He didn’t just think of himself. This was easily seen through the challenge, nobody had any problem understanding what to do, there was absolutely no chaos. The dish looked beautiful - although the chocolate shard was a bit too large, but can be overlooked. I’m sure it’ll taste well as well. The only thing that may not work for them is the cake - nobody knows how to bake with banana flour.
Aruna - she gets along very well with Gurkirat (as is evident from their instagram), so no surprise she chose him. Gurkirat had to choose between Kamaldeep and Suvarna, it was a no brainer. Nobody would voluntarily choose Suvarna. Aruna maybe got over ambitious and didn’t think of her team mates when she chose her dish and ingredients. Cooking with bananas or parts of the banana plant is almost unheard of in North India. I think that was her biggest mistake. Clearly there was utter chaos and nobody knew what exactly to do with some stuff. Gurkirat not realizing that he had a grocery basket was ridiculous. At the end, both the ladies pounced on Gurkirat for not using the grocery basket, not making the right dish, etc. I thought that was a bit mean.
Deepa - I think her instructions were clear, but it was not a well thought of dish, though her team executed it almost like she envisioned (not 100%). There was a lot of blame game going on, especially from Shanta, she’s becoming negative. Suvarna just turned a nice Italian tomato sauce into a thecha like tomato sauce! I think in adding her mark she overdid it. It wasn’t necessary. Her comment on the judges tastebuds was a bit much.
I think he playing looked ok, maybe they should’ve chosen a different coloured plate.
From what we saw today, Aruna’s teams dish was most different from what was planned, and clearly looked like it should be the weakest. Similarly Sachins teams was almost exactly what they’d thought of and he should win this task. However, since we know KDK won the immunity pin, does mean that Aruna’s team won. And that makes me very angry. Atleast today her team definitely seemed weakest. We can’t try the dishes but will have to go by judges opinion, which we already know is biased.
I think Sachin is indeed the dark horse of this season. Sometimes he does things that nobody expects from him. I think he has a sharp brain, and is quite determined, his attitude is great too. I think if he came on the show a few years later with some more maturity, he would’ve fared better.
@ Bold: I think it was because he didn't expect Sachin to finish so fast or to be so good at it. I feel like judges underestimated Sachin and now he's impressing them. I did too. I didn't think Sachin was that great of a cook and then he surprised me.
Todays episode was literally a filler like many said. I’d rather they do one more task, than drag the immunity pin challenge for 3 days.
Anyway coming back to the episode, it started with judges tasting Aruna’s teams dish. It was nothing like planned and the dish was critiqued fairly. Plating, textures and even flavours were spoken about. One thing I didn’t like was Aruna’s comment - that no matter who does wrong, the captain always gets blamed. In this case, clearly she made the biggest mistake of not thinking of her team mates while choosing her dish and ingredients. Yesterday, Deepa graciously accepted that she was at fault and the reason for failure.
Sachins teams dish was clearly very good. Except for that huge chocolate piece, everything else was praised, the texture, the flavour, their co - ordination. Without taking any credit away from Nayanjyoti and Priyanka who did a fab job, full credit must be given to the captain for playing to his teams strength.
For the immunity pin challenge, the contestants first had to make a charcuterie board. I was surprised when they said they had never even seen one in real life. Honestly, I didn’t like any of them a lot, though Sachins was clearly the best looking. Priyanka added some lettuce leaves for some green on the board, I have never seen that before, but it did look good. Nayanjyoti just seemed lost in this challenge. From the first minute he looked confused and it was very evident he was going to be eliminated from the next challenge.
Next was the egg ravioli challenge. They wasted way too much time there. They could’ve edited it better. Priyanka’s raviolis looked better overall, except for the last one. Sachin needed to cook his ravioli another 20 odd seconds and he would’ve probably won this round. You could tell that he took the ravioli out too soon. Even on tv it was evident. I guess pressure makes one do that. I never thought making an egg ravioli would be so difficult.
Looks like this week a lot of contestants will have the black apron since only an individual task is left. They’ll save 2-3 at most (my guess only) and rest will go to the black apron challenge.
As most of us have predicted that Sachin will go out, after his performance this week, he shouldn’t go out atleast in the week he’s performed best. Let’s wait and watch!
Charcuterie board challenge for immunity pin ---
Decision based on presentation was stupid as always, IMO. But, I also feel the cook needs to learn to present properly at the same time if cooking more than one time. I feel the cribbing over preparation was bit overdone, because fruits can add color to the board.
Coming to participants, only Sachin started to stand out because he was focused on his board unlike Priyanka who was clearly jealous of Sachin's chopping speed and Nayanjyoti who looked lost since plating was taking up his time. Priyanka getting lettuce at last minute, kinda made me wondered what would've been the scenario if the amul pantry was closed. 😆
Presentation wise- Sachin's was pretty cool but certain portions were bit clumsy, so I advise him to work better on presentation. Priyanka- I felt the lettuce was bit extra for the protein to be sat. Could've used a bowl, tbh. Also, again presentation could be improved. Nayanjyoti's presentation was okay from the center with the meat/salami rosette in a bowl but proportion felt inadequate.
Egg ravioli challenge---
Sachin's pasta maker was moving a lot thus was bit worried, how it would come out. Priyanka needs to focus on her game more than Sachin lol. Lol, she also looked a bit lost at times over the thin layering of the pasta.
Priyanka's 1st one clearly had a whole visible whereas Sachin's had different pasta layering sizes. From the 2nd one, Sachin's looked better whereas Priyanka's had folds in them. Sachin's just started to float but I think he rushed to plate it + was looking slightly thick.
3rd one - Sachin's ravioli looked better whereas there are still folds in Priyanka's one. Crap, Sachin took it out too fast, I mean it just started floating. Ranveer looked bit rude towards Sachin for some reason despite the feedback, dunno it's like cold vibes or something.
