This is my first post on this forum but I couldn't resist myself after reading an article on IFs about this show. Plus, I have never watched this show. So, please pardon my ignorance about the storyline and my post is purely based on little info I have about this show.

First of all, it was absolutely shocking to me that the show makers even considered showing one of the main male leads to be a gay character. I've seen posts from viewers where many of them are unhappy that Gaurav will be shown as a gay character. Nonetheless, the makers are taking a bold risk for which they deserve a ton of credit. I'm afraid that they may get a lot of negative feedback from social organizations and the general public for this.
Secondly, believe me or not, this is something that is the actualy reality at least in a society like India where homosexuality is a big taboo and almost a crime. How sad is that? In most cases, one doesn't have control of being a homosexual unless of course one is experimenting.
I grew up in India and have in the US for several years now. It really is shocking to see how it is almost impossible for a vast majority of gay males to "come out" in Indian society for fear of getting shunned by their family and society. Homosexuals are also human beings.
Lastly, its good that they are going to show the relationship between the two guys to be more on an emotional level than a physical one (as per gaurav's interview). I hope the general public in India who watches this serial shows some tolerance for it and try to understand the dilemma's and confusions gaurav's character is going through.

Finally, I wish I could watch this serial. Unfortunately, the area in which I live in the US doesn't get star plus.

How come Gaurav got married to Vidya in the first place? Sorry folks, but I never watched this serial. But, the story looks interesting.

I'm going to catch as much of it on YT.

Devyani essentially forced the marriage on Gaurav, fully knowing that he is gay. Maybe she thought she could change it or something, which is obviously just stupid.

However, that whole plot has not been uncovered yet. In fact, it's only recently that we've seen any movement in that angle, so you haven't missed much.

Other than that, welcome to the forum! This definitely is an awesome show, and I live in the US too, and I catch up with the show online. The written updates are also available in case you want to read it as well.

And I completely agree with everything you said. I don't think a lot of us in the forum are opposed to Gaurav being homosexual, just saddened and annoyed about the fact that Vidya won't get her husband's love, at least that's the case for me. But I'm completely happy that the makers are going down this track. It will definitely prove to be very interesting to watch.

Welcome once again!

well said.

I, too, applaud the CVs for thinking, daring, and eventually showing this angle. I love the way they've done credit to each story, and I think each one covers an essential part of what is wrong in our society.

From acceptance and dealing with homosexuals, to wife beating, to husband's cheating on their wives, to rape and molestation by the 'powers that be' ...

I love how this show has wrapped it all up, pinned it on one main character (by the way, the guy playing Brahma is a superb actor and does a great job as such).

And this gay angle, it was extremely well done and portrayed.

BTW, I don't think Devyani knew about it. In the IF article I thought I read that the parents will be shocked when they find out that he's gay. I believe they think he likes someone else, not another guy.

Oh wow, really? I always assumed that Devyani just knew that he was gay but she loves living in her bubble so she thought she could change him or something like that.

Sorry about that then!

I stand corrected - turns out she did know about it, based on today's episode.
