In short, 'Amar Prem' is Amruta's story, who is a simple girl who values her family more than anything. She is all set to become a psychologist, when fate brings her face to face with Satyajit ' the boy, who her parents have selected for her younger sister, Suruchi.

Satyajit, instantly falls for Amruta but she doesn't encourage him in any way. Amruta finally confesses her feelings for Satyajit, after a lot of push and support from Suruchi. but both sids parents are not aware that Satya is falling for Amruta and not Suruchi. Amruta's mom is very rude to her, she does not have any idea abt satyajeet loving amruta.

Satya and suruchi's 1st decided engagement was postponed by satya... as satya and suru were trying to convince amruta.

Surname is "kotkar" not potkar. Also, this girl Amruta is muslim girl given to Kotkars by an army-man who had Extra marrital affair. That's the reason why Kotkar couple hates Amruta. I guess in the coming weeks, this will be revealed to Amruta that she is muslim girl and not actual daughter of kotkars. Then actual drama will start only then because now Satya & Amruta are falling deeply in love. To add some spice there are jealous neighbour mrs. ghaisas (just like devdas) who want satya to marry her daughter.

Then who's that old man who came to inform to mrs.kotkar that eng'ment is deferred & that's bcoz ashubh amruta is present in our house ? this old man played Ajju in Kalat-Naklat who dies (father in law of rujuta & husband of harshada in that srl - owner of Abhyankar industries).

i thought he was mr. kotkar. but even if he isnt , there was a dialogue between mr & mrs kotkar with 2 daughters sitting opposite and mrs. kotkar was constantly telling amruta to get out of that plc and her hubby was supporting her. So indirectly he cant oppose his wife who keeps insulting amruta.
