Preeti Puri who plays Tanisha in Zee's Mamta decided not to use a stuntman for a scene on the show. Her decision however didn't work in her favour. A couple of days back, Puri was shooting for the show where she had to stop Mamta from committing a certain act.
Scene out of control
"The scene was that Tanisha sets her dupatta on fire. She wants to scare Mamta. I was asked if I wanted some one else to do it for me. But I refused and decided to go ahead with it, myself."
The scene required her to fling the dupatta in the air and make it go round and round. "I didn't realise that the fire would spread so soon. As soon as I started rotating my dupatta, it became obvious that the situation was getting a bit out of control."
Main darpok nahin hoon
What followed, is something Preeti still can't forget. "I am basically afraid of fire, but I still took the chance as I didn't want to look like a coward. Just towards the end of that shot, the dupatta slipped from my hand and fell on my left leg, burning it. It is still scarred."
The members of the unit immediately rushed and made sure she was given first aid. "I am glad I didn't have any serious injuries. In the future, before doing any stunt, I will think twice. There is no way an actor can take risk of injuring himself."
Blinkin' miss
Puri also plays the role of Mouli in Balaji's Kahiin To Hoga. "I am happy with the response Tanisha in Mamta is getting. It's an out-and-out negative role. In fact, my trademark blinking of eyes has become popular, and if I go out and meet people, they ask me to show them how I do it." The actress also has a movie — Utthan releasing next month.
