Saw the episode. So Maya memsab connected the dots today. Last week it was Rudra who had quite a few revelations and this week it's Maya.
Chalo, she has something to do now. I find PR quite okay with that unassuming look. We are looking for screen presence and she does have it. Its her character that is 'mayajal' to me.

She now is in the predicament that a heroine in hindi movies faced many a time. Under the diktats of villains and torn between them and love. But we could sympathize with her today. She got twin blows. One from her nanihal folks and another from Rudra. I liked Rudra's idea. Mayajal mein phasne ke baad usi maya ka upayog karke Satya tak pahunchna hai. This Maya clearly stands for asatya.

When did she fall in love with Rudra?

I am liking Rudra's growth as a person everyday. He said 'ekadasi' in that ashudh roop. In Telugu, that is how everyone says. Dadi-Rudra conversations are such a delight now. And dadi is revealing a lot of things each time they meet. The show is now in higher gear. Time to fasten the seat belts.

Epi belonged to Maya I would say. She is trapped. She knows the truth, yet she cant tell the same to Rudra.
Reason she understands she is responsible for Maimui's death one way or other. Also they have warned her of Rudra's death.
Guilt combined with fear is slowly changing the delusional Maya. Well she has seen the dirty side of her family. Yet unable to do anything much about it at that point. But I am happy she is waking up.

Nice post and yes, this episode belongs to Maya!
She was heart broken by her family betrayal!!
Yet, she needs to stay quite!
Dadi mentioned the Saraswathi Kumbh was dried, but yet she was alive for 24 years..
I'm not understanding and it seems Rudra was not even wondering how his Dadi is still alive 😕
Nice start of the week!

Maya...

A small town girl, with simple needs and simple expectations, a girl who not does demand much nor does she expect much.

Will she question Rudra's sudden desire to marry her? I think not.

When you look at Rudra, Shiva or the Dalivesh men, they are all more focused on the big picture.

As per dadi, Shiva wanted to find the truth behind the magical water of the Saraswati Kund,

Dalivesh and his sons are also absorbed with power and control

Rudra too, is not the one to sit back and let things happen,

he too sizes up situation pretty fast and wants to get to the root of things.

Maya on the other hand, is accepting, and takes things at face value.

Look at her lament last night- that her uncles and grandfather have no regard for relationships and family.

She can't think beyond the threat to her, she cannot see the big picture, that her family is made of killers

and murderers, that they are wolf in sheep's clothes, and they while pretending to be religious, are no sadhus!!!

So Maya as she is now, will not question or probe, she will not look beyond the obvious and not dig deep.

A simple girl, who while her name may be maya, is what she is, the jhooth, the bhram and the chalawa is what is being done to her, and not by her!!!

Neel dadi survived because she is a sidhdha yogini, and has acquired the technique of preserving her body and systems through yoga.

She also always had the gift of healing, so I guess that's why she survived

@ Happy.

Edit- Wanted to say my soft corner for Charles is growing apace - Intriguing, whatever they were trying to show today in the interaction between the Dm and Charles, under Granpa's patrician nose!

And last week where he is dressed as Ravan, and returns with The Phone, then too, I felt he hit the right humorous notes... 👏

Happy, I too enjoyed the tiwari charles interaction, infact I wanted to write about it

but slipped up.

They remind me of a strict father and a truant son, their bonding is quite nice!!

I really loved the episode. This Dadi is rocking. Once again Rudra has a Mother figure. Both Dadi and Thapadiya Mai.

Balivesh and the Nana? Cruel A**holes man! They are just awful people. The way they are using Maya is terrible. I felt so bad for her when she was talking to her Mother's photo and asking her why she left her with people like this? Why didnt she just kill her? Poor Maya.

As for Rudra...whenever he is with Maya now I get chills. The dialogue delivery of Gauti in those scenes is just fab. His expressions, the tone everything. It all add's to that feeling of being overwhelmed that Maya feels, coz she has fallen for him, and on the other hand her own truth! But we all know Rudra is playing her, then why does it all feel so real? Is it possible that deep down he feels something for her too? If he dosent now he soon will. He will fall in love with her too, and that will be the only thing that will conflict him from his path!

I am just loving everything about Mahakubh and how each piece is falling into place! What a beautiful place the Saraswati Khund was? So full of light and beauty. Then now it's a dry and dark place. I hope one day, it goes back to it's glory. Looks like being a "Garuda!" runs in the family. His great uncle was one too. So it seems that Rudra's family are genetically pre disposed to becoming a Rakshak of the Amrit. The Saraswati Khund also gives a special healing water!

I am just loving every element of the story! Even the Tashan of Charles and the DM! :) I also love Katherine. She is so sensible and love her accent when speaking Hindi. She is doing a great job!

My dear Arshi,

As neat as a pin, this one, with every single relevant point in place, and a nice compendium of the quotes of the day as a kind of bonus!👏 It was a cracker of an episode, I agree.

My two bits worth.

If one has to have a villain, he or she should be, well, villainous on a grand scale, not in the sleazy, downmarket style of khoye paaye Pandey. So I was pleased that Naanu Devesh not only trumped his son by sensing Maya's presence behind the curtain, but also handled her hackneyed, 1980s film heroine style declaration that she would reveal their asliyat to all and sundry (I gritted my teeth audibly when she trotted that out😡, nullifying the brownie points I had just then given for not dropping that thali with a resouding clang!😉) with admirable and telling aplomb. Without turning a hair or raising his voice, he spiked her guns completely. Baap to aakhir baap hota hai! They are dirty rotten scoundrels, the pair of them, but they belong to the upper echelons of crime and sin.

Yes, Maya was much better than usual, she is always good in her scenes with the inhaler, as you have noted too. In any case, I cannot improve on your crisp take on Maya last night!👏

I loved Daadi, who I am sure is going to be with us for a while yet. She is not a rakshak, I feel, but she is an original, and a delightful old lady, with very strong opinions of her own. Thus, I had some reservations about her blaming Shivanand for the disaster that befell their Panth and family, feeling that as a member of the family who were the guardians of the amrit, she should have put that mission first. But as often happens in this tale, her point of view has been explained last night.

As you have noted, she feels, and that is a perfectly valid point of view, that the healing powers of the Saraswati Kund, the garuda chinna on her husband and her grandson, these are all holy manifestations of the blessings of the Almighty, which should be accepted with becoming gratitude, not analysed as Shivanand was doing. It follows, for her, that what happened was the punishment meted out by the Almighty for such sacrilege. I do not agree, but one cannot really fault her either.

Of course she has no idea as yet that Rudra would put any bulldog to shame in sheer, fierce tenacity, and he intends to punish the killers of his beloved Maimuyi. Daadi will learn about all this soon enough.

Now the most significant revelation she made to Rudra was that the Saraswati Kund had dried up well before the 1989 attack by the 'Veshes on the Sri Sant Panth ashram. I had assumed that the drying up was after the attack, but now it clearly preceded the attack. A very intriguing point, that.

As for Rudra, apart from the relief of moving away from the OTT rage scenes at all, I love the intriguing, cunning, smoothly and unhesitatingly devious plotter we have now, which is indeed a seamless progression from his interactions with Maimuyi and his daadi. There is no point arguing about the rights and the wrongs of it, all is fair in love and war, and this is war.

Earlier, I was struck by the look on his face as he was watching the Naanu go off to do the pooja, accompanied by his somewhat dismayed son Balivesh. It was full of anticipatory satisfaction at what was to come, going by his plans. Like a tiger watching his next prey, prey that is all unaware of its fate.

Another such shot, which I had pointed out in an earlier post, was when Balivesh was telling him, in Naanu's underground lair, that Pandey would be in front of him within 72 hours. The eyes were bright and full of bloodthirsty anticipation. I could almost see the tiger licking its chops!

As for Katharine and her satellite phone pal, it is clear that she is not part of Prof. Rao's group, even clandestinely, for he is spying on her. That leaves only

(a) the Secret Society, that is to say, in Prayag, Greyerson, or

(b) if she is a rakshak, as seems to be widely surmised, maybe there is yet another group of "good" foreigners, the ones with whom, as daadi tells Rudra last night, Shivanand was in constant contact, who are seeking to bring the rakshaks to the Mahakumbh and brief them about their mission.,

(c) A third option would be a combo of these two, that Katharine is a mole, or double agent, for the second, good group, pretending to work for Greyerson and the Cardinal.

One thing is for sure, she is not what she seems to be. We have to wait and watch.

The show is indeed becoming really deep. And gauti - he is taking Rudra to another level, he has shown so many shades of this character!

And as you said, the pieces of the puzzle are falling into place, but we are still a long way from getting the whole picture, it's going to get even more exciting with time!
