like you said its an interpolation like many other facts are actually just interpolations and not actually part of the epic

i guess this interpolation comes from the promise vishnu ji made to bhoomidev to end the kshatraiya clan

But other than this none of the character's ever say that they are fighting for betterment of society

Mahabharat war eventually happened because of the same reason that every war happens that is land and kingdom.Even pandavas never say they are fighting for better soceity

I don't think it's an interpolation Sabhyata. It's the interpretation of what dharma is

Krishna does say in the original MB that whenever there is a lot of adharma, he comes down to earth, so he can establish dharma (yada yada hi dharmasya...)

Now what is dharma? The correct interpretation of dharma is compassion, empathy and doing what's right for the maximum number of people...

So, Ved Vyas didn't say it explicitly but that's what great books like 'The difficulty of being good' etc have implied. I have no issues with SP's version here...there interpretation of why MB was needed and what dharma is bang on

uddeshya jo bhi rahaa ho, yuddh kaa parinaam toh woh hi thaa, duryodhan jaise adharmiyon kaa vinaash, jin ke kukarma saadhaaran prajaa ko pravaabhit kar sakti thi, waise, aaj bhi un jaise neta hain is desh main jo unki tarah hi kukrityon ko sampaadit karne ke liye prerit karte hain, agar samajh me nahi aataa toh har us netaa ke shabd ko yaad karo jo balaatkaar ke doshi ladkiyon ko thehraate hain.

but for me this is the 1st time ive connected to Lord krishna. tht too through SRJ'spotrayal of krishna. For me ⭐️krishna has become the face of krishna for me. If i close my eyes n imagine lord krishna ⭐️krishna ka face hi saamne aata hai.

but does the epic say that the life purpose of krishna was this war... why was this war between two cousins for land so imp to lord vishnu that he had to take an avtaar as krishna. coz these wars would have happened everywhere even then. wht was so special about this war? Or was it just that the war happened & krishna only decided to support the more righteous side..

His goal was the establish dharma...and he would do whatever it would take to do that, even war!

i loved it how he stressed about praja following the king & how the king needs to be righteous. Also how he said pl dont think about the right thing they just blindly follow the person on top. so its so imp to choose the right leader & even then not follow anyone blindly.
And well i think we should just throw out such netas you mentioned above😉. but ppl dont do they

No in the original MB krishna ji never says that,if you can share any citation i will be happy to read it but as far as i have read KMG krishna ji never says anything like this even this shloka isnt part of the epic

In the entire Udyoga parva krishna ji repeatedly only asks yudhishtir to fight for his kingdom and not to show mercy to kauravas who had wronged him and his wife. That is the only thing he says

Regarding different books and their interpretations hmm to each their own i am talking about translations of the epic neither CE nor KMG make any such claims

so, is yada yada hi dharmasya not part of KMG or CE? I thought this is one of the most important shlokas of Bhagvad Gita
