It isn't mentioned that Devavrata further took a pledge to serve the throne. So him siding with the Kauravas in the war becomes even more interesting. I've several points..combining them all together to derive a proper conclusion.

Shruti.. I was also sure it is not there.. I believe he siding with the Kauravas will be for the simplest reason of he being the citizen of Hastinapur and son of the ex-king of Hastinapur..

Bheeshma lingering with the Kauravas can be understood quite easily, before the war!

He lived with them, so technically his duty lied with the kingdom and its king. Also, he wasn't the king, just an elder in the family. Being an elder he advised them good on each and every occasion. The men listened but never bothered to follow. I sense no error from his side here.

Why he sided with the Kauravas in the war..this is something one needs to discover! Duty was a factor surely, but not the ONLY one.

So it was his duty as he lived with them. Hmm.

Question: Is it mentioned anywhere that Krishna was hyper on him siding with the Kaurava?

I don't think anything related is mentioned in the epic.

I read Krishna's conversation with Bhishma when he was on his bed of arrows. I simply adored the way lord praised him. Speechless!
