Shani: being friends with someone and choosing to marry is different.
Even in todays time, people rarely get married below their station, whether its money or caste or position. They can be friends but marriage in Indian society is a whole diff deal.

And this is what irritates me with regards to the character inconsistency and the horrible "character sanitization" of Drau...I mean, on the one hand, shown to being friends with Malini (the daughter of her own daasi), and she could get along well with Vrushali (who knows...❓).
But, with Karna...😕😕😕

Honestly, why can't CVs be consistent with her character, and show her as the proud person that she really was?? Just because she is the wife of the Pandavas and Krishna's sakhi, it doesn't mean that she doesn't possess character flaws. Of course, she does possess character flaws.

What ? 😲 Vrushali is Draupadi's maid and Karna will marry her ?
So, next question coming to my mind is, will Karna know this (his wife-to-be was a maid to Drau)
at the time of marriage ?
---------------

@bold: I don't think this has anything to do with inconsistency. They showed that Drau said what she said to Karna only because she knew that only KArna and Arjun could win the swayamvar and since she wanted to marry Arjun only, she found a reason and Sootputra was her reason.

Shani - I think many agree with you here about the whitewashing and blackwashing that is happening. Also the ridiculousness of introducing Karna's wife as the Draupadi's dasi.

I concur with the viewpoint above thought that being friends and marriage are two different things. Within my circle of girlfriends we don't care who is what caste, race, or religion. But, within that same set of liberal North American friends there are some that would never consider dating someone from a different religion or culture.

Instead of telling the story, in their attempt of explaining it, they do well at times but make a mess getting viewers confused, frustrated.
Mamashree's mere bachhe & Pandu ke bachhe was funny.

They showed the Pandavas reacting to Drau's fictional rajyasabha apmaan (you see, the Pandavas, being the "good guys" that they are, they HAVE to be shown as "completely good" as per CVs). So, how will the CVs now justify these very same "good guys" keeping quiet and remaining mute during the vastraharan????

They were all sold and slaves by that point.
Infact when drau was dragged in the rajsabha, Vikarna was the first one to protest and he protested first by saying a guy who himself is stripped of all his possessions cannot possess a wife to even put her at stake.

And that was the saddest part of MB, that a woman is treated nothing more than possession, a lady, a queen a mother being dragged that way in public place and humiliated, the situation and the adharm in it gets lost into hair splitting arguments of law. Stuff u see in indian courts even now.

I read somewhere that Vrushali was Ekalavya's sister. Anyone know which source that may be from? She was from a lower caste (since Karna was also believed by everyone to be a suta putra), but it was too much of a risk for the CVs to show her as Draupadi's maid.

Officially a fan of the actor who plays yudi, out of 4 pandavs, I felt most connected with his anger filled sadness in today's beginning.

I love Rohit Shetty as Yudhisthira! I think he portrays his character the best more than any of the other Pandava actors. The others are also good, but Rohit is excellent.

Nowadays not happy with the confused soul that Arjuna is portrayed to be. I cannot see the valiant gandeeva dhaari that he was. 🤔

Vrushali was the daughter of a suta IIRC. Eklavya was a prince in the Nishada tribe ... perhaps a fictional retelling of some sorts?

EDIT: oh wait ... are you asking if her origins are like Karna's, born in a different caste, raised in another?
