Stacy handed me the list of groceries I needed to pick on my way back. I made a reminder in my phone and started my car. The traffic was scarce and I reached the address way early. Looking around, I spotted the store and thought to buy the things right now, better than leaving them for my way back. The grocery store was owned by the Kundras, as I checked the name. Probably to facilitate the families of workers they had recruited. I took out Stacy's list and grabbed a trolly. There was something fishy. Everyone rushed around.
"Go get this done!", the workers yelled at each other.
I rolled my eyes at the chaos. "Cheddar!", I looked around, and unable to find it...I called the nearby salesman. He was sweating and shivering.
"Is everything ok?", I asked. "Yes Mam! Cheddar is right over there, in the fresh dairy items.", he pointed towards a freezer cabin next to a cabin which mentioned, CEO. Half mindedly, I took a packet of Cheddar and rushed to the billing.
"Hey! What is going on over here?", I asked the receptionist.
She was cooler than the rest, "Mam! Our Boss is here. He's a freakshow. And today, he's in a pretty bad shape. He is here for a routine check.", she sighed.
"Bossy Bosses!", I rolled my eyes as she giggled. A worker helped me load the packets into my car and I rushed straight to the Kundra Mansion.

It was huge. My mouth dropped on the ground as I parked my car in the Visitors Area. She handed me a temporary identity card which had a chip which could take me through the security checks. There were 3 stages, and only after I cleared all the 3 plus tell them about my job, they let me in. The mansion was Palatial, I was in awe. There was a certain elegance in it, something that revealed royalty and prosperity. A security welcomed me at the door. Another detail, I rolled my eyes. He took my IDs and then asked me to follow him inside. A huge glassed tunnel led into a huge mansion. One couldn't see the roof or the other end of the mansion. Some butlers and servants clad in royal uniforms walked around. RK had taken the Kundra Empire to newer heights. It was evident. The security, named Will asked me to wait in the lounge. A servant offered me juice...whereas everything I wanted to see was him. Will came back with Radha Aunty.

She recognized me instantly. I greeted her and took her blessings.
"How are you beta", her eyes glistened with tears.
"I am fine Aunty! I never expected you or RK to be here!", I was overjoyed.
Her smile vanished at the mention of RK. I was taken aback. She faked a smile immediately.
"So, how is work?", she gestured me to sit!". "It is all fine Aunty. You've heard of Brisbane Weekly? I work for that!", I told her.
She seemed genuinely happy. "We have Brisbane Weekly as our daily paper too. RK never misses it!", she faked a grin. I grinned internally thinking that RK was reading everything she approved. Radha asked the servants to get some snacks. I was feeling restless.

"So Beta, how come you're here?", she asked.

"Aunty...I was supposed to interview RK for our 100th Edition!"

"Ohh. Is RK back?", she asked Will.

"Yes Mam. But he has asked for an hour of no disturbance"

"Alright Will, you may leave now. I am really sorry Beta. You know how these CEOs are!", she smiled.

"Its alright Aunty. I'll wait. If you want to rest, you can. I'll wait outside at the reception."

"No Beta, you're more than welcome inside. I will ask Will to get you a permanent ID for the entry", she called back Will and asked to get the required things done.

He took my fingerprints. I rolled my eyes. Another lady worker offered me a tray of magazines. Everything was so lavish. I obliged her with Indian Filmfare. Aunty returned after an hour with a small ID. She offered it to me, "Now no one will ask you. You can come in straight and park your car in the Private Area"

"That is so generous of you Aunty. It wasnt really needed. Me and RK can't hang out like before. Things have changed."

"Drastically...", she added.

"Ji?"

"Nothing Beta...", she looked away.

"RK is a busier man. He won't have time for vodka and boozes.", I chuckled. But clearly, no one was in a mood to take the joke. I closed my lips. My phone buzzed. It was from my office."

"Adam!", I got up and went towards the window for a better reception.

"MD. I have something's to discuss. Can we meet for dinner tonight?"

I turned to look for a watch. Will pointed to the big clock hanging from the roof. I could manage a dinner. "Alright Adam. I'll be there!", I added another reminder.

Radha tried to talk about my parents and Mumbai but completely avoided my questions. After a while, I stopped asking. An hour later, the room on the first floor went open, "WILL. You moron. Come here right now!", my cup of coffee shook suddenly. Radha tried to smile. What the heck was that? I finished my coffee and looked at the watch and then in my paper.

Will returned back 20 minutes later.

"Mam, Sir is ready for you", he said. I was stunned by the thought of RK. "That voice was of RK?", I thought. I grabbed my stuff and trudged behind Will.

He left me at the door of a study room. I saw him sitting on an arm chair with its back to me, on the farthest end of the room. I knocked gently.

"May I?", I gulped.

"You've been summoned already Miss", he shrugged off attitude. I was bewildered.

"RK!", I whispered, my voice shaking.

He got up. I stepped back. "Excuse me Miss...", he turned to face me and then he stopped. I tried to smile, but my fear overpowered any other emotion.

"Madhubala...", he whispered in shock. I gave him a weak smile. He loosened a bit. I sighed in relief. His eyes softened, much like what they used to be years back. "Hi...", I entered the room slowly.

He nodded, without smiling and gestured me to sit. I licked my lips to wet them because they were dried in fear. "How are you...", I moved forward and extended my hand. He returned handshake with a nod. In my usual way, I leapt and hugged him tightly around his neck. He didnt reciprocate it. I had to step back, "I am sorry...", I looked away.

I heard him clenching his fist. Looking up at his face, his eyes were tightly shut and his temple tensed, as if trying to control something. I gasped and moved back. He opened his eyes and staring at me, he gushed out. I stumbled on the nearby chair, unable to think.

shivu .hugs.im loving this story

nw coming to the update,well I was somehow expecting the same rk which u have mentioned in this update.

in my previous comment,I had already said that a lot had happend,of which madhu is un aware n the the girl which radha introduced to rk years back in the rk father rememberence party have something to do with this changed behaviour of rk.eagerly waiting fr next update.

shivu im misimng mani alot,she alwayz used to wait desperately fr ur updates.
