Chapter 3(Madhu's POV)
I ran upstairs to my room, more like bouncing out of joy and excitement. I had the best day of my life today. For once I was able to live freely, that too with Rishabh. I changed into my night gown and fell asleep.
(Next Morning...)
"Princess...get up!" My maid shook me.
"No...Sudha..not now. I'm having a wonderful dream." I tried to swat her away, half asleep.
"Princess...it is almost noon!" That statement woke me up.
"What! How did I sleep so late?" I said to myself. Maybe because I came home late last night...
"Princess, you breakfast is on the table." Sudha said.
"Ok...you may leave..." I rubbed my hair.
I got up quickly and got ready. Mother will scold me if she finds out. Sudha better not tell her. I ate my breakfast in a hurry as well.
"Madhu, I still don't believe how you are a princess." I said to myself, stuffing the fruits into my mouth.
Sudha came back and took my tray. I sat in place, trying to be formal again. Then Mother came into my room.
"Madhu, princess Trishna is here." She said.
I was seeing Trishna after a long time. She was my childhood friend. I couldn't control my happiness, as I almost squealed. Trishna soon came and gave me a big hug.
"Madhu! I missed you so much!" She said.
"I know! I haven't seen you in like...forever! What brings you here all of a sudden?"
"Oh you know! Kings and their political conversations. My family and I are here for a while today."
I took her over to my bed and we talked for a long time. But my mind was on Rishabh.
"Madhu...where are you lost?" Trishna asked.
"I love him, Trishna." I said. She gasped.
"Ooo...who is this secret love of yours?" She asked, moving closer to me.
"Come, I'll show you." I grabbed her wrist and pulled her to the window.
I found Rishabh in the courtyard, practicing his sword fighting with a friend. I couldn't keep my eyes off him.
"Madhu! Tell me! Who is it?"
I pointed to Rishabh. He had finished his practice session and sat down on the stone bench. He looked towards the window. I waved to him. He waved back, smiling.
"You have a great choice, Madhu. He is very handsome."
"I know. And kind at heart as well." I said, mesmerized in his eyes.
"But Madhu, will your parents allow your alliance with him? I mean...he's not a prince."
"So what? Does my love hold no place?"
"No that's not what I meant. I heard about your marriage being fixed with a prince from another kingdom."
I was shocked. My parents can't do this without my consent.
"No. This can't be true." I said, clearly in denial.
"Does he love you back?" She asked.
"I don't know...and if what you are saying is true...I may never know."
