OS-The Bearer of the cloak
The eerie silence of the room was noted by both occupants who entered the room. They spotted her sitting on the bed, staring at empty space with a book about pregnancy lying open in her lap.
Radha tried to speak but no word came out, it was as if the words had struck somewhere along the wide pipe. She felt it all at once guilt, pain, shame and fear.
Pabbo felt the same if not shame was the highest. She tried to stifle the sob and controlled her urge to plead. The ring of a telephone broke all their revive..
Madhu picked up her cell and frowned seeing a call from unknown number. She spoke hesitantly at first and then grew seemingly interested or so she pretended. At the end of the call she shouted in very high decibels
M-"I told you I don't need anything at all ...I can take care of myself .Stop pretending that you care Didu"
Madhu cut the phone and muttered "add another one to the fake concern list" Madhu ran her hands over her child.
Pabbo-"Madhu"
Madhu jumped up like a spring and asked-"Ji what nivaran should I do this time and for whom now Sikky ya Deepali?
Pabbo flinched at the tone Madhu used. She knew that she deserved this but; it did create an ache in her heart. Radha begun-"Madhu bte we are here to ..."but unable to complete as at that moment Rk entered .He spotted both of them and grew wild completely..
Rk-"What are you two here for; create more pain to her or let me guess any new taunts left?"
Pabbo and Radha nodded sadly saying a no... and left; the cloak of guilt on their shoulder grew heavier.. and suffocating.
Rk turned to look at his Biwi with pleading eyes, but all Madhu did was walk away with the book to the terrace. Rk sat down and leaned back as the weight and the gravity of the situation took over him...
His Biwi was pregnant with his kid, whom Rk already loved more...His family finally looked complete and his dream fulfilled. A wife and a kid of his own. People who will love him for him and not because of his stardom or money. However the medicine box before him remained of the harsh reality..His wife's health was too weak and the baby's birth could kill her. She was a heart patient and she had hid it all along, her heart had a hole and even though it was not very threatning,it was something to be taken care of and not neglected. His mind went back to the events which changed him completely..
FLASHBACK
The film was released and had become a blockbuster hit...Directors and producers queued up in Rk mansion. It was not for Rk but Madhu. She had turned into an overnight sensation..
His ego had got the better of him and he had begun to stay away from her, hurting her...Lashing out at her and things got worse with Pabbo and Dipali adding to it..He blamed Madhu for stealing his stardom from him. The worst came out when Madhu caught Rk and Dipali together..Dipali was trying to seduce Rk shamelessly and Rk on pretext of irritating her kept quiet .Madhu lost her control and had dragged Dipali to the hall and slapped her across the face.She threw Dipali out of the house despite Paboo's angry calls and threats...
Pabbo-"How dare you throw her out of this house?"
M-"S****s like her should be in Red light area and not here..."The tone Madhu used had used was cold and menancing.Pabbo grabbed her wrist to slap her and as she raised her hand to hit .Madhu had caught it and the glare was murderous.
Rk opened his mouth to talk but the next action of Madhu had shocked everyone in the house.
Madhu called up a lawyer and asked him to arrange for a divorce.
Rk-"Madhu what..."
Pabbo-"Let her go Rishu U deserve better"
Madhu just turned to face her and spoke against Pabbo's face-"Oh sure please I want to definitely see who can live with a person who takes people for granted and uses relations as a punch bag for his frustrations. Not him alone but also all of his family members including his Ex-girlfriend's taunts and attempts to humiliate ...I want to see how a girl can stay with a ungrateful mother in law...I want to of all see how that girl puts up with you Pabbo...You and your stupid mindset of my horoscope"
Radha was totally aghast when she was called ungrateful, she opened her mouth to shout but the next phrase caught her off
Madhu-"Probably you would have forgotten Mrs.Bhatia,It was me who changed him to human, thought him to love,filled the void you created,saved his life many times.It is because of me he calls you ma otherwise you were only the Janam Dena wali aurat...of course you ruined it on your own...I came back to this house even after being humiliated and heart broken by Rk and look at the names I get WOW..."
Turning to RK-"You, what is your problem?my poularity,fame?You talk as if I ran behind it...No it is because of you. I hated this industry but came in because of you and you are blaming me..."
Madhu started to stagger back and breath heavily...she began to turn blue and fell down with a thud...
Rk-"Madhu..."
Even as they rushed to her Roma had come in running with a good looking guy who was Madhu's doctor...In a few hours they had learnt about her heart problem ,her pregnancy ,the risks and everything...
END OF FLASHBACK
Pabbo learnt the complete story and was forced to change her opinion at the cost of a person's life.
Rk looked up at the clock and it showed 1:00am .He found Madhu fast asleep with a hand over her child the only person who loved her according to her opinin...Rk felt tears steam out of his eyes and the guilt drowned him...for he was the Bearer of the cloak...
