Two of the most poignant, lovely scenes in MB for me involved Madhu and Mukund - everyone's favourite bashing target before Sultan came along. The first was when Mukund and Madhu share a cup of tea at a roadside shack right before RK plays havoc with her life spreading rumours about her so-called affair with him.

Madhu was so serene and content, so hopeful and full of joy. The second scene was when Mukund tells Madhu he cannot marry her and Madhu breaks off her engagement with him. The connection between them, the hurt and disappointment felt more real than anything that happened subsequently in Madhu's life.

Now why do I bring this up? Because Mukund was ripped apart just as mercilessly as the character of Sultan was by those very persons who now claim to despise Sultan because he's a gangster. Umm...Mukund wasn't a gangster - he was an ordinary man making an honest living who regretted giving in to his mother's pressure tactics. To phir usmein problem kya thi? And if people cannot answer this, then they need to stop with this blind lashing out at Sultan because it reeks of hypocrisy.

wow am i seeing posts like MF here...people saying mb confused n always changing side jus coz she is supporting sultan and fear that cvs will shw Sultan EYEING mb...lolz...the othr grp did win this strategy...MADHU NEVER GAVE WRONG SIGNALS to viwers nor to Sultan...when she luks at Sultan its always with eithr gratitude or respect or adoration BUT NeVER in a romantic...whatever symbolisms we got for SULBALA had been by destiny NOT coz mb or sultan were giving wrong signals to each othr or viwers...why r u n wards sounding like those RK fans who says madhu is two timing even if she even luks at Sultan...is it forbidden that when u r married u cant even look at othr gender...n jus coz she will supporting sultan now doesnt mean she is confused or changing sides at the drop of a hat...she is supporting WHo is RIGHT as she always did...period

I hardly bothered with this show because I knew Mukund would never have a chance. I came to the show because I knew Sultan would. 😆 Sultan is a great character by himself, and both the character and AR have tremendous screen presence. I love watching for Sultan, but I ultimately it's because of Sulbala. Because or else if there's no Sulbala, it's just another case of Mukund, except that Sultan is harder to get rid of.😆
