its been time now.

So I got the time to update! I've decided that I'll do weekly updates unless I have the time to update sooner, in which case I will! But as of now, I don't have time to send out PMs yet. They'll probably be sent out the next time I update. Anyways, enjoy!

Chapter Five - Colles' Fracture

I sat in the car and was putting on my seat belt when she hit the gas.

"Woah!"

"You're too slow. Not my fault."

"Question. Why don't you have your driver take you to the studio?"

"I'm an adrenaline junkie. I like driving."

"Why not just become a stuntwoman then?"

"Hah. I'm better than that."

I shook my head at her indirect insult and got ready for the longest thirty minutes of my life.

"So you never did tell me what was on your mind yesterday?"

"I don't need to tell you."

"Alright then. Anyways, sorry for earlier."

"I don't forgive you."

"What?!"

"There's at least five washrooms in my home and you chose the one that I was in?"

"Trishna directed me to it!"

"She did? OH THAT'S IT. SHE'S GOING TO GET IT WHEN I GET BACK HOME."

"Calm down! She was tired, it didn't seem like she knew you were in there."

"Whatever."

"Can I ask you something else?"

"No."

I stared at her for a moment silently but then decided to ask her anyways.

"How can you be so fine with your parents just leaving for a week and not saying bye?"

"My parents leave me and Trish alone with the maids and servants all the time. Almost every week they're gone. I've become used to it…and why am I telling you all this?"

"I see. And probably because it's easy for you to open up to me considering how much I've been through myself."

"Gross. I don't open up to anyone."

"Gross? How can opening up to someone be gross?"

"Opening up to YOU is gross. Homeless guy? I'm better than that."

"Quit calling me homeless guy! I've got feelings too ya know?"

"Whatever."

"Just call me RK for god's sake."

"No. I'll call you anything but that."

"WHY?!"

"I told you, I don't like your name!"

"That's so stupid."

"So are you."

I gave her an irritated look but her attention was on the road and she didn't notice. I looked to my right and out the window but she didn't even let a minute of silence go by.

"How was Mr. Snuggles?"

I looked at her, chuckled a bit, and was surprised when she smiled slightly in response.

"Quite snuggly to be honest."

"You can keep him. I've got Mrs. Snuggles."

"Woah, gifting me already? Are you sure our relationship has reached that point yet?"

"Oh shut up you!"

She hit my arm without taking her eyes off the road and I let out another chuckle.

"No but really. Thank you for everything Madhu."

"Hey, don't get all senti on me. I may work in sentimental films but I'm not that type."

"I'm just thanking you! Not proposing or anything."

"Well still."

"I'm just going to be honest and say you're 100% the opposite of what you are in films."

She remained silent for a minute with a confused look on her face, but then finally spoke.

"Is that a good thing?"

"I don't know. Figure it out!"

She rolled her eyes at me and then continued driving. Then I decided to ask her the one question that had been on my mind since the previous night.

"Honestly, why did you help me Madhu?"

She didn't say a word and kept her eyes on the road.

"Hello? I'm asking something."

"And I'm ignoring."

"Why? All I'm asking is wh…"

"I know what you're asking and I don't feel the need to answer you. We're almost here. The minute you step out of the car, my name's Mona Malik. Understand?"

"Yes ma'am…I mean, Mona."

The rest of the drive went by quietly. When we reached the studio, she parked her car, got out, and walked off without even looking my direction. I got out of the car myself and picked up my bag. The instant I closed the door, I heard the car lock itself. I turned to see Madhu holding the car keys and facing my direction. When my eyes met hers, she looked away and walked into the studio as though I didn't exist. I admit, I was a bit bothered by the fact that she was going to act oblivious to my presence just because I was a stuntman and not an actor, but I knew there was nothing I could do. So I walked into the studio and looked around myself. The set had changed overnight. It seemed to match an action type set and I was quite happy with the fact that I'd actually be doing some work finally. I put down my bag and was greeted by Mr. Chopra.

"Ah, just who I was looking for. You've got to get changed. The first stunt you'll be doing will be explained to you once you get into the actors clothes."

"Yes sir!"

"Ram, come, take him to the dressing room."

A scrawny looking guy gestured for me to follow him and so I did. I entered the dressing room and found a pair of clothes on the table.

"Change into those."

He closed the door behind himself and I quickly changed into the clothes. I heard my name being called outside the dressing room, so I rushed out. Mr. Chopra stood in front of the set and facing my way.

"Hurry! We need to begin filming!"

I ran towards him and he began to explain the first stunt.

"Alright, we're going to cut the scene where 'Raj', the main character in the film, is about to get pushed off the ledge. That's where you'll be brought in, all you have to do is fall and land on the blue cushion right there."

I looked at the ground and noticed a small blue cushion placed there to catch my fall. The chances of me missing the cushion seemed greater than me landing on it. But I didn't have any fear of heights or anything, so I nodded my head and took my spot.

"Lights, camera…"

"Scene 34, take 1."

"ACTION!"

I watched as Rohit and a background actor fought it out and neared the ledge.

"CUT! Bring in the stunt double!"

With it being my first stunt, I felt kind of nervous, but I knew if my nerves acted up then I wouldn't be able to do it. I closed my eyes and thought of Midhi, the only thing driving me to do such a thing. I took my spot near the end of the ledge and then Mr. Chopra spoke.

"ACTION!"

I fell off the ledge and felt myself falling from a great height. I waited for a soft landing…but never got it.

"WHO MOVED THE CUSHION?!"

When I heard Mr. Chopra yell that out, I instantly began to panic mid-air. But before I could completely take in the fact that I was about to hit cement ground, I felt my hand catch my fall. I heard a crack.

"AAAH, OW!"

A terrible pain went running down my spine and towards my hand. I felt a cooling sensation for about a second but then the burning that followed caused me to shriek again. I grabbed my hand and held it up as people surrounded me.

"SOMEONE CALL THE SET DOCTOR!"

Mr. Chopra yelled out behind him and then surprisingly, I heard her voice follow.

"RK?!"

It was the first time she'd said my name. It sounded sweet to hear it coming from her in a worried way rather than her normal irritated voice. She ran through the small crowd and knelt beside me as I kept a grip on my throbbing hand.

"Are you okay?!"

"I'm perfect thanks. Just, chilling you know."

"Shut up! WHERE'S THE DOCTOR?"

"Coming ma'am!"

A doctor came into view and he checked out my hand while I heard Mr. Chopra yelling at someone on the side. It was obvious the man who had moved the cushion was being yelled at and I felt kind of bad. After about five minutes, the doctor spoke.

"It seems as though he's got a Colles' fracture."

Madhu and I stared at him confused and then she spoke to him in her sarcastic tone.

"I don't remember becoming a doctor overnight. English please?"

"Broken wrist."

"So what do we do?"

"Take him to the hospital and get him a cast. I'll call the paramedics to take him."

"MR. CHOPRA!"

Mr. Chopra came running towards us instantly after hearing Madhu's voice.

"What happened?"

"Cancel shoot."

"What?! I can't afford that!"

"Cut it out of my pay. I'm taking him to the hospital."

I looked at Madhu with a slightly shocked expression. What had happened to her within minutes that she suddenly was okay with showing everyone that she cared about me? Did she care about me? I was quite confused with her and her personality.

"Mona, I'm fine. I'll go. You stay and shoot."

"Shut up you. I'm coming with you."

I didn't bother arguing with her because I knew there was no point. She's the kind of girl who always got what she wanted, no matter what it took. So I stood and followed her to her car while holding my hand.
