Chapter 65
Rishab crouched down in front of Madhu's tent and started to open up the zipper. They had been back at camp for about 20 minutes now. It was still early evening and they could take the rest of the day to rest. Madhu had disappeared into her tent as soon as they had gotten back, telling him she wanted to change some of her clothes.
"Hey, Madhu," he said as he pushed the loose fabric of the entrance aside to look inside. "What's taking..." He frowned when he saw her lying down, wrapped up in her sleeping bag. "Hey, what's wrong?" he asked gently and crawled further into the tent.
"Headache," she mumbled quietly, squinting when the light reflecting off of the snow-covered ground hurt her eyes.
He reached out and brushed a strand of hair out of her face. "Why didn't you tell me, baby?" He looked at her concerned. "Do you have any meds here?"
She nodded. "Already took them."
"Anything I can get you?"
"No," she forced her eyes open. "Just gimme some time. Normally these magic pills start working really quickly. I just need to nap for a while."
"You want me to stay with you?"
As much as she enjoyed his presence and wanted him there she shook her head. Right now, even the slightest sound ' like his outer gear brushing against the sleeping bag ' hurt her head. "I think I need complete and utter silence right now."
He nodded and brushed a kiss against her forehead. "Okay." He made his way out again and closed the tent up as quietly as possible.
"Where's..."
He turned around quickly and pressed his index finger against his lips when Abby spoke up. "She's got a bad headache."
Abby made a face. "Did she take her magic pills?" she asked, her voice hushed.
"Yeah, c'mon," he gestured to the fire where everyone else was already sitting.
Akash glanced up when Abby sat down next to him again and he glanced back at Madhu's tent. "What's going on?" he asked, knowing she had gone to find out what was taking their friend so long to join them.
"Migraine."
"Ungh, God those things are painful."
Adam shook his head. "Hey, so, what's up with you two?" he asked, kicking Akash with no subtlety whatsoever.
"What d'you mean?" Akash asked deliberately not understanding.
Adam rolled her eyes at him. "Gee, I don't know... what could I mean? Don't be stupid, Akash, we both know better."
"You already know anyway, don't ya?" he teased.
He stomped his foot and glared at him. "Even if I knew, and I'm not saying I know everything, don't you think you should still tell me?"
"C'mon, Akash, it's driving him insane, he is waiting to do his big brother routine," Rishab said, bumping Adam's side playfully and grinning at him.
Abby groaned and leaned in closer to Akash. "Oh God, No!!! Not that!!"
"Well, there's not much to tell, Adam. We talked, we decided to give it a shot, and here we are."
Abby waved one hand in Adam's direction, nodding at Akash's explanation. "Satisfied?" she asked.
Adam raised an eyebrow, got up and put one arm over his shoulder, looking like Marlon Brando from The Godfather. He pretended to smoke a pipe and put on an Italian accent saying, "Boy, you are part of the family now. And you can never leave 'The Family'. If you do, I will find you and make you my bitch."
"Woahh!!! What happened to the usual 'If you hurt my sister I will find you and kill you"? Akash asked.
"Well that dialogue was so over done. Plus you would look so much more cuter as my bitch." Adam pulled Akash closer and messed his hair up.
Abby rolled her eyes at the two of them and finally decided to play along. She had no reason to hide anything; and hell she wanted to have some fun too. "What would you like to know, Adam? How the sex is?"
"You two already had sex?!" Adam showcased his best shocked face and shot daggers at Akash, while Akash decided to act dumb was in his best interest. He didn't want to be the one who has to eat dirt by getting between the two warring siblings.
Abby choose a chocolate with the most noisy wrapper and opened it slowly creating a racket. She took a bite of the chocolate. "I'm surprised you didn't already know. Especially since Akash is not the quietest one in the tent. He sounds just like a tomcat in heat, caterwauling. But then again, you hit the sheets so early every night. Akash and I are more... nocturnal."
Just as he saw Adam ready to retaliate with some comment, most likely to do something with him and his male prowess, he cut in. "Hey, I think we should keep some of the secrets in the bedr... uh...tent itself. But if you ever need any pointers..."
"Pointers!!! I have a pointer right here." Adam gripped his hand in a fist and advanced towards Akash, who also got into his best fighting stance.
Abby panicked. Things were beginning to get out of control. She did not know about Akash, but Adam bruised easily. But still Adam could do some real damage before he went down. "Whoa, whoa, whoa, now wait just a minute. " Abby looked at Rishab who continued to do what he was doing without a concern in the world. "Do something!"
"What d'you expect me to do?" he asked as he added more wood to the fire which was dying out but nonetheless conceded. "Boysss... Cut the charade. Neither of you win. She loves both of you." He said even without looking up from what he was doing.
"What?? What do you mean?" Abby asked confused. As she put two and two together, she narrowed her eyes at them and in a high pitch she yelled, "Boys!!"
As she walked towards them, Adam whispered to Akash, "Don't run... because when she catches you and she will, it will be even worse. My best advice is roll up into a ball on the floor and wait till the plummeting is over."
Akash was starting to panic now. "Are you serious?" he whispered.
"Yes, just do it when I yell 'now'." Akash did not know what to do? He didn't want to run away like a coward, but he didn't want to get beat up by a girl too. Well it wouldn't be just him would it, Adam would also be going down with him. Abby looked like a raging bull snorting and charging towards a matador, in this case him. He imagined himself covered in all the usual drapes of a matador, skintight red outfit with sequins and a purple and red cape, challenging the pointy horned bull by swinging his cape around, while the crowd cheered, some shouting 'toro toro toro' and others 'akash, akash, akash'. Finally him reeling the bull in by tossing the rope around the neck and lassoing the bull and riding it, with an air of machismo, all the while the crowd going crazy shouting out his name and girls throwing roses into the arena.
He was brought out of his daydream, by Adam's shout, "Now!!" And before Abby could even blink, Akash was on the ground curled up into a ball.
Adam, Abby and Rishab burst out laughing at the scene before them. As Akash slowly looked up, he saw them all laughing. Realisation dawned on him, he immediately rose, "You guys played me!!"
"Sorry about that buddy. I was totally on your side... at least at first." Adam started explaining as he wiped the tears from his eyes.
"But what you didn't know was that I overheard your stupid, 'who does Abby love more bet' and came up with my own plan." Abby said cutting in.
"And then she approached me, and told me about this new plan of hers. And to be honest, it was way funnier."
Abby strolled towards Akash, put her arms around his neck. "How does it feel to be played, player?"
Akash smirked and pulled her closer to himself. "Didn't know you had a devious bone in you. Well will have to explore all these parts of you carefully now, don't I." Abby blushed red.
Rishab grinned to himself and shook his head at their antics. This group was crazy but he could understand what Madhu saw in them. He glanced up when he felt a hand settle on his shoulder and he smiled at Madhu as he took her hand and pulled her down to his lap. "Hey, how're you feeling?"
"Okay," she mumbled, taking his invitation and getting comfortable in his lap, snuggling close against him.
"You shake that migraine?" Akash asked, concerned when he saw her pinched expression.
"It's better," she told him.
As Abby leaned against Akash's shoulder, she looked over at Madhu. "So, Madhu, what d'you think would be more romantic... a wedding on the beach with the ocean as a backdrop or a wedding at a lake with snow-capped mountains as a backdrop?" Silently telling her that the problem between Akash and her was resolved.
The other girl smiled softly. "For your wedding or mine?"
Rishab lifted an eyebrow at her question. "You already making plans to marry me?" he growled, his lips brushing her ear.
"Who said anything about you?" she teased, but wrapped her arms around his neck and rested her forehead against his temple.
He snorted. "You just try marrying some other bas***d and I can guarantee he'll never make it anywhere close to the altar."
