Chapter Eighteen - The Doggy Hair

I stretched and slowly opened my eyes. I turned my head to the left and saw Madhu brushing her hair in front of the mirror.

She didn't notice me sitting up. I admired her as she continued to brush her hair.

I watched as her silky long hair...came out in the brush?

I carefully watched her brush her hair again, strands of her hair were coming out with each brush stroke.

I looked at her face, no pain. Which meant it was falling out at it's own will, not being pulled out.

"Madhu!?"

She shook, probably because I startled her.

She turned and looked at me in shock. She looked at her brush and put it down, away from my view.

"Good mor..."

"What was that?!"

"What patidev?"

"You're shedding hair like a dog!"

"Oh! Oh...that...yeah! I've been low in iron lately, that's also why I've been looking pale."

"Really?"

"Why would I lie?"

She laughed it off and turned around again. She pulled her hair out of her brush and threw it out.

I had forgotten that women were more prone to having lower iron. It all made sense though. That's why she was always dizzy, that's why she looked pale, and that's why she was losing hair like a dog.

"You haven't been taking your medicine have you? Iron pills?"

"Uhm, I always forget."

"Where are they?"

"Huh, no, I ran out, I have to go get more."

She spoke quickly.

"Drink your chai RK."

"I'm taking you to the doctor today."

"No! I'm fine. I have an appointment for tomorrow."

"Well, then I better see those iron pills tomorrow."

"You will..."

I gave her a look, which showed I didn't believe she'd go to the doctors, but she disregarded it and handed me my chai.

"So what are your plans fo..."

She stood up mid-sentence and ran to the washroom.

I was about to follow her but decided to give her some privacy.

She walked out within a couple minutes, wiping her face with the towel.

I gave her an irritated look and stood up myself.

"Let me guess, food poisoning? Hangover? Or iron pills? Which one of those three is it this time?"

She froze in spot and stared at me as I began to walk closer towards her.

"RK..."

"Which. One. Is. It?"

"I'm okay. I'm not si..."

"SHUT UP."

I remember regretting yelling at her in her sick state. It was the first time I had yelled at her in days.

She went silent and her eyes widened.

I placed both my hands on her arms and shook her.

"Ow..."

She grimaced in slight pain and I loosened my grip.

"Madhu. What's wrong with you? You're hiding something."

"Nothing's wrong with me RK, believe me!"

"Then why do you keep throwing up?!"

She looked at me and I watched as her eyes widened.

"Wait! How far did we go that night?"

"What night?"

I pretended to have forgotten it.

"Really?"

"What? We promised to forget that night, and so I did."

"Clearly you didn't RK! And we both know very well, forgetting that night isn't possible. Though I remember none of it."

"In that case, we went all the way."

I smirked as her mouth opened. Then she squinted her eyes and hit my chest.

"Don't lie!"

"What?! You said yourself that you don't remember anything from that night, how do you know I'm lying?"

"Well, if you're not lying, you're about to be a father, congratulations!"

I stared at her as she burst into laughter. I began to laugh along side her.

As we both laughed, I came to a stop before her.

I admired her as she laughed.

I wasn't in my senses. I was drawn in by her smile, her beauty, her.

I placed my arm around her waist and ran it around slowly.

Her laughter came to a stop but my actions didn't.

I remember staring at her passionately as she stared up at me with a slightly shocked expression.

I used my free hand to gently place her hair behind her ear.

She looked down as I noticed her cheeks turning rosy.

She looked beautiful as she blushed, even though she was pale that day.

I was a bit surprised to see a smile crossing her face rather than a slap crossing mine.

I placed both my hands around her waist and just admired her for a minute. Then I began to close in on her. She closed her eyes. Her breathing sped up.

I could feel her chest rising against mine with every breath she took.

I could sense her heart racing at full speed.

Just as my lips were about to touch hers, she collapsed.
