You are right..
They didn't changed each other, they were always like this only bas no one noticed it before in Madhu and RK is best when it comes to act..
He can hide his emotions very well..
But, only Madhu had evoked them.
Its not easy, only a soul mate or better half could do it and thats why Dips never had came near RK.. he loved her but I'm sure he never told her about his and papa's trekking as a bed time story...😉
