I have rarely seen a more courageous woman than Dai Maa, on screen.

The execution scene set up was eerie to say the least. The ambiance, BG score and dialogues were superlative.

From that scene one thing really stood out for me. Dai Maa was the one who brought Balraj to the world with her own hands. But watching him grow to be the fiend he is, I guess she regretted it every moment and may be (I am assuming this from her dialog) felt a tinge of guilt. She might feel responsible for his deeds because she gave him life in a way. And helping Padmini escape was her way of washing away that guilt and finally seeking solace in death, which she chose for herself.

Susmita Mukherjee as Dai Maa appeared for three scenes and may be a screen time of 15 minutes, but the impact she left will stay forever. And finally when justice strikes, it must be dedicated to this brave lady.

Rakhi Vijan is class. I cannot imagine any other actress playing this character. The fact that she took care of Padmini and Trishna depicts her kindness, but that she returned those 75 bucks takes the character a notch higher.

She appears to be a self made girl in a city like Mumbai, so she teaches Padmini the harsh realities of life without sugar coating it. And she seems to be very, very proud of her brother, and rightly so as shown in the last scene.

I already love the new entry which I assume to be Roma's brother. The first appearance sets his character, so he is the knight for our Padmini, Trishna and Madhu?

But after watching the build up of the story, I am tempted to wish that the show does not turn out to be a typical love story, but more of a good triumphs over evil. The character actors as shown so far have been brilliant and hopefully they will be given judicious scope in the future tracks as well.

A few mentions:

1. Hats off to the man who designed the title montage. Its fascinating. And Drashti Dhami in and as Madhu Bala is the icing on the delicious cake.

2. The costume designers have done a great job. Roma's dress was lifted from MPK which makes total sense given the period and her being a junior artiste trying to find a foot hold in the film industry.

3. Impeccable casting.

A little request to the makers. Please hold to the originality of the show that you have promised. The progress of the story and climax (whenever it happens) must be the fall of the devil that too in the hands of the daughter he tried to kill, but survived.

And kudos to you for living up to the promise of this show being a tribute to 100 glorious years of Indian Cinema. Within the limitations, you have tried hard and succeeded too.
