How do you relate to your character?
I do not relate to her at all! I am quite different from her in real life. I am short tempered.
How did television happen to you?
I got the first call for auditions from Balaji productions after someone noticed me at their office, when I went to meet a friend of mine who is a part of the team. But I could not give the auditions as I was down with jaundice. After my recovery, Balaji called me again for an audition. I appeared for it and was selected for the role.
Apart from television, what other projects have you been involved with?
I have done a considerable amount of work in the South Indian film industry. Apart from commercials, ramp walks and teleserials, I have done one film in Kannada and five in Telugu.
Which are your ongoing projects?
I am shooting for my next Telugu movie in Hyderabad, which will be my 6th, and I am doing the serial Mayka. These two projects absorb a lot of my time.
Tell us something about your character in Mayka.
My character is a very sweet, talkative girl who has a sudden major change in her life.
How do you relate to your character?
I do not relate to her at all! I am quite different from her in real life. I am short tempered.
How did you feel when you faced the camera for the first time?
I was petrified! I was not able to say a single line of my dialogue. My make-up and hair itself took 3 long hours! I was only 15 years old then and was doing a South Indian movie with big stars. It meant a lot to me but I was so nervous that I could not utter a word.
What did you feel going to small screen from big screen?
Nothing much. But films are more easy. We get more leisure time. But serials make us tired. Serial means 'overtime work'. I went to Bombay to do a hindi project, because I was missing my place. And now small screen is popular like big screen. Hindi serials are popular all over the country, so doing a hindi serial is equal to doing a south movie.
What are your future plans?
I would like to continue working, as long as the work that comes my way, interests me. I am grateful that I have accomplished so much at the young age of 21.
