LTL ~Written Update
Episode~ 9
January 7th 2010
Car park../building site.
Episode starts with Naku, discovering Sethji, yanking out car logos in the hotel car park. She slaps him hysterically, is this what you leave the house for? your hard work! stealing things! Aye finds out what will she think of you! you'll steal will you ? steal.Sethji screams, forgive me! and resists her incessant slaps .Their voices alert the police presence within the car who slowly close in on the brother and sister. Sethji spots the cop over Naku's shoulder and stares at him in horror, Naku pulls her brother, why are you looking that way look at me! she screams, and he stammers look behind you police! Naku turns her head in horror, they hadn't been spotted yet .. and Sethji yells as he reaches out for his sisters hand , run tai! run! The police spot them ,as Sethji ,leads his sister, by the hand, weaving in and out of rows of cars.. the cops are now fully alert by the disturbance, and identify the two.. and run with sticks after them.. Kadam run catch them! hey wait ! they run and yell after Naku and Sethji.. but the brother and sister sprint up hand in hand on to the gradient of the exit of the car , chased by stick brandishing cops..
Out of the car park, a vigilant Morey sits on his white car, flicking his baton in the air and looking towards the entrance of the car park.. his men suddenly turn up huffing and puffing pointing ahead at the racing brother and sister! Morey yells when he sees them.. catch them you idiots go after them! and he himself quickly sits in his car, ready to join the chase! orders, Kadam lets go ! ..
Suresh turns up running and shocked says, oh hell ! this is bad ! and he too starts following Sethji , Naku, and the cops!
Both brother and sister end up running into a construction site .Sethji trips and Naku turns, to check if he as ok.. and then they resume running in deeper into the construction site! with the cops hot on their heels.But Naku runs like the wind leading her brother by the hand.. police sirens into the site as Morey in ray bans turns up in his vehicle ,to support his chasing men!
Faster and faster runs Naku with her brother ! the cops chasing them! Morey's car moving in onto them too.In great speed Naku leaps! jumps! and tries to avoid the circular pool of muddy water bordered by gravel.. but her foot catches on the slippery gravel and she slides with her brother into the muddy pit!
The chase ends ,as siren dies down.. the two are trapped in the pit! and are stared at by cops, public.. Morey comes out of his vehicle and slowly saunters over to the pool..
.. he stops at the top of the gravel and looks down in delight at the brother and sister sitting covered in white pastel cement mix water.. hey! Wonderful! when your deeds are dark, then you will look dark!.Both Naku and Sethji stand up.Morey goes close and looks down at them. What can I say! nabbed you down finally! Hey Kadam! splash some water and wash them up!.Naku looks up much worried, as Morey , raises his eyebrows from behind his ray bans. Right away !says Kadam.. and plugs the hose pipe into the main water supply.. Babi and Mangla come running to the site.. and Morey yells, hey Kadam !what are you waiting for the monsoons to arrive!. Kadam turns the water supply on ..
Sethji pleads from the pool, Saab I am innocent please forgive me saab! Naku waits horrified. Kadam starts spraying Sethji with water.. and Morey shouts whoa !whoa! haa..ha, Sethji yells as he gets showered, saab I have done nothing! and gradually the cement water washes off him.Morey shouts whoa chotta chetan! father a drunk! mother a vandal! no wonder you're a thief! he points to Sethji. Suresh looks on in horror..Baji and Mangla arrive at the site. and Morey then orders, ayee Kadam spray some water on the sister also, get her wet, real good..
Kadam starts to spray Naku with water, she covers her face, as Babi pushes through the onlookers.. she is shocked. and she screams Naku!! Morey turns to Babi, look who's here.. but Babi looks down at her daughter being sprayed!
Gradually the water gets to the side of Naku's head.. and Babi screams Naku!. Sethji steps out of the pool and wants his mother and Morey says, if the mother is a goondi the daughter too will be a vandal! I think I'll arrest the whole family!
Water off Naku, drains off.. and Babi screams Naku!Naku!.. Babi pleads with joined hands please Saab stop! stop the water!. Morey turns to Babi..oyee loud speaker shut up!..I am not doing her encounter! Just washing her up![me rolling on the floor].. the water pushes and washes off the cement water... and gradually her fair, neck.. is revealed as her colour washes off.. Babi twists her face in shock.. as Morey slowly removes his ray bans..and his eyes fix on Naku's fair neck! The hose splashes her back, and she still covers her face with her palms... Ganapat arrives on the scene, much disturbed at the sight.
Morey watches, perplexed at Naku..slowly her hands covering her face turn fair and Morey's jaw drops, as a worried Babi notes his keen interest.
Her hands finally move from her face..and all watch astonished at her transformation, Ganpat, Kaidu, Suresh, Mangla, Morey, the guy who proposed to her and Sethji..Naku stands drenched ,shaking slightly, she looks at her fair hands.. worried that her secret was out in the open.. a spectacle to be looked at.. by all present.. Morey quietly looks on..
Then come the comments, oye this is Naku in a double role[ boy who proposed to her], haila! She looked black like a witch when she fell into the muck! on her way out she has transformed into a ekdum item![funny toothed constable].Babi beats her brow crying,Deva!. shocked Mangla asks in disbelief ! Babi is that our Naku?. Naku lowers her eyes, clutching her chunni across her bosom.. looking stunned. Another man turns to Ganpat, why did you hide this from us?..Naku turns to her family.. Sethji too , baffled asks, Tai? is that you?. An upset Babi steps into the water, Naku my child!Naku! and hugs her protectively before all.
Morey moves around the small pool..looking at both mother and daughter, like a taskmaster.. he walks around slowly, deep in thought, looking at this new Naku, and Babi too moves her body to protect her daughter like a shield.. all look on. Morey's constable chips in, sir , I think she's a member of some gang, she has a double life, one in the day and a different one at night! Babi nods her head in disbelief.. at the accusation.. the constable continues, I say sir lets take her to the station and lock her up! .Morey , stops his stroll and stands on the banks of the gravel around the pool and now looks down at Naku.. Babi begs, please let her go sir! she is is innocent! Babi , says Iam a much worried.. mother.. Morey nods briefly, as his men get Naku out of the pool, nab Sethji , come on lets go! they yell. Babi resists , and Ganpat looks on worried like all around them.. hey move back! move back! ,the cops shout as they drag Naku and Sethji towards the jeep.. Morey leads with great authority...
Get in! shout the cops and Naku and Sethji are shoved into Morey's police car.. Babi begs Morey through the car window, please let my girl go sir, please!
The car pulls off , leaving behind a weeping Babi, and their shocked neighbours... Sethji cries.. aye! As he looks out of the car window towards his parents... Babi weeps hysterically, my daughter.. and a much shaken Ganpat holds his wife close in a embrace, to console her..

POLICE STATION
Morey lounges in his comfy chair, his legs propped up on his desk, he flicks his baton, and with his head slightly thrown back, he stares at the brother and sister detained in the station, sitting before him on a bench.. its the girl he stares at.
Sethji looks at his sister sitting beside hi , upset he asks her, since when are you fooling every one?. his voice cracks up, you hid the truth from Sethji, tai?. neither aye, nor babaa, and not even you..he almost sobs..you didn't trust me.. he complains heart broken. Naku, turns to face him, keep quiet Sethji.. but he carries on muttering, what a fool I am? went stealing for my family!.Naku , tells him, shhh! But he rants on, I went to earn 10,000 , and you hid the truth from me.. damn my own family betrayed me!I feel so stupid..[will this line be repeated elsewhere by another..in LTL?].He bangs his forehead, I am losing it!. Naku, cries and says ,Sethji.. as she becomes aware that Morey was watching her, she quickly covers her bosom with her chunni.. and turns to her brother, he's looking at us, so keep quiet.. and Naku looks at Morey's eyes leering at her.. and she starts to press her chunni with her fingers nervously..[first time seen in LTL, this action of hers].
Babi arrives at the station with Ganpat. My children! she exclaims, and both Naku and Sethji are relieved to see their parents. She runs to embrace them, and a cop yells at them, move it!what are you doing here? first go and see saheb! and you two stand still!
Babi runs to Morey at his desk, sir, I beg you let my children go! saheb, they made a mistake!she begs and adds , if you wish you can lock me up!.but free my children! She begs.. and then turns to Ganpat, go on! you request him! plead! beg! touch, kiss his feet! she screams. Ganpat begs , sir, I apologize for them!, they are so young please let them go please, he cries out..and finally presses his forehead against the tips of Morey's shoes yanked up on his desk. Sethji looks on in utter helpessness.
The constable with the jagged teeth intrudes, how can we let them go just like that? They have conned the police! sir, I think this is a gang!of four people! Ganpat, chips in no sir,we are very poor people Babi denies.. while Morey listens to his constable.
The constable yells, hey Kadam, frisk that kid.Ganpat says he's just a kid he's not done any thing saheb, but Kadam goes to Sethji, and says, standstill ! Sethji resists ,its nothing really, and kadam yells , move your hand!. Kadam pulls out a knife from Sethji's pockets! Kadam yells ,saheb , he's got a knife as well!. Babi, looks at Ganpat in shock,and Naku looks dazed. Morey sits calmly at his desk, gently tapping the side of his face with his stick.. watching and listening, though.. the toothy constable starts again, see sir, he roams, around with a pocket knife! Kadam runs back to Sethji and he pulls his ears, tell the truth how many have you mugged so far?!Sethji cries, let go of my ear it hurts! But Kadam says, look kid! right now it's your ear that's hurting , soon your bones will hurt too! he threatens. Babi starts pleading again no sir my child is not a thief?. The other constable questions, you steal car logos ,don't you? and your sister what does she do?.. smears soot on herself and swindles people?. Naku, Babi both look upset...no ! no! that's not true , my daughter has nothing to do with this! saheb, I changed her look , I did it to her! I just wanted my daughter to be safe from the eyes of the world! I am a mother, so I was afraid, my mistake saheb, please forgive me! pleads a weeping Babi. Naku looks on weeping too.. but Morey just sits without any reaction .. Ganpat too supports his wife, she speaks the truth sir.. the toothy constable interrupts, meaning a dark face for the day.. and a shining one for the night?. Babi protest, no .. not true! We are poor but we have dignity. Naku cries at all this, and the constable ,then turns to his boss, sir I think this kid uses the knife to scare people.. and this item uses her charms to woo clients!
Morey moves abruptly , bangs his stick on the files on his desk ! turns to his constable and gives him a couple of resounding slaps! that leave all present in shock!
Where are your manners? respect your duty.. he pulls the constables shoulder tag..
Let them go and close the file...declares Morey slowly ..the constable challenges, but Sir.. and Morey says, do you want another one across your face?Let them go and close the file ,he repeats...
He sits on his chair , laid back , and Ganpat, says, on behalf all his family... we are really grateful sir, it really means a lot to us... he turns to his wife, look Babi, what a good man he is..and he bows his head ,thank you saab..
Morey stares at Naku, and Babi in a hurry gathers her children and takes them out of the police station.. both Naku and Morey give each other a look.. Morey watches her leave, and with his hands behind his back he moves towards the door.. to watch her go..
Outside Naku looks back at him.. and he slowly folds one arm in an embrace , then the other.. while Babi, covers Naku's head with a yellow chunni... the family moves off as Naku's chunni slips from her head down to her shoulder..
Morey turns and returns to the station, scratching the side of his eye brow.. deep in thought..

Basti
The family return to the basti.. Naku in her fair real look.The guy who proposed to her says to his friend, look.. all notice the family. Mangla , calls out Babi! is every thing ok?. Babi,nods a yes. Mangla then asks sweetly, what is all this Babi? our Naku is so pretty , why did you darken her face?. All , stand and watch.. Naku. Babi replies, Mangla, this is not the time, we'll talk later.. and she says, come Naku..to take her inside their kholi. The old man, stops Ganpat, and says, you call yourself a father?.. and then he looks at Babi, and you! you made a joke of such a beautiful girl? did you hide the truth, because you were afraid of all of us? why did you hide such a big thing from us? Damn you!.. he protested. Ganpat says, kakaa.. right now please let us go..
The guy who proposed says, haila! if I knew she is so pretty, I wouldn't have let go off her after I won the game!I would have married her immediately!.. his friend says, who would have guessed we have such an item in our basti!.. and he blows a kiss..
Sethji yells ayeee! what did you say about my tai! and runs to fight the loafers! They say, wanna fight! and Sethji screams!.. Ganpat pulls Sethji back and confronts the boys, hey watch your language! I won't take any nonsense! i'll smack you shameless .. sallas!.. and Sethji gives the romeos the evil eye!, and says if I see you again, I'll smash your nose in!
They enter their home and Naku ,walks to the mirror and looks at her reflection.. a knock sounds at the door. Babi opens and Ganpat and Sethji enter..Babi sits on her bed exhausted. She calls out, oh lord! till date ,I kept everything under control! but now everything is ruined!..a disturbed Sethji accuses his mother, aye you too lied to me? babaa you didn't tell me either.. Ganpat says, oye whatever questions you have, ask your mother! it's all her doing the soot idea!. Babi gets up to defend, hey!.what answers are you talking about? do I have an answer for your booze?! your booze was the reason for all this! such a careless father! what else would I do? Babi screams.. and then turns on Naku, and you! why did you do it? why ? why? and she slaps Naku across the face! now every one knows!!and then Babi turns to Sethji.. collars him, you! little wise guy! you had to go and steal! she screams at Ganpat, your boy ,you named him Sethji and he wants to become a thief!. Babi then turns to Naku now you tell me how will I protect you from everyone?!!say something ! no one has any thing to say! she screams!. Ganpat, finally yells, ayeee Babi chup!chup! chup! .. all stand stunned into silence... episode ends.. Hamlet53~6.9.13
