Hi there,
Before I state my purpose, I just wanted to assure folks that my intent is NOT to cause any disruption or make any enemies here. I don't recall ever posting on the LTL forum before, and I'm not very in touch with LTL. I saw a few episodes when MR was Dutta, and read up/did a crash course via YT on Dutta/Nakusha story, but then dropped it when Dutta lost his eye sight and MR left. So, this is purely an objective post - with the thought that 'loyalty' to MR is very strong in this forum.
So - onto my post and point. I'll try to make it short and sweet.
I noticed that there is no SA appreciation thread. Maybe I didn't traverse through enough pages (just 5 or 6). I just recently discovered the serial Kayamath ... and I fell in love with Shabbir Ahluwalia. Between his smile, the passion he acts with, and the acting he does with his eyes - I was bowled over. Then I started watching his other serials and noticed he's mostly, if not only, acted in Ekta serials. I can see why she likes him - he's her typical alpha male - dark, dirty, dangerous hero, extremely hard on the outside and soft on the inside. And THEN I remembered, HE is the one who replaced MR!
Now, I'm not into watching serials after a lead has been replaced. So I didn't watch any of the epi's post MR's exit from LTL, and I wasn't going to start now. Having been part of the DMG forum and having witnessed what happened there when Riddhima was replaced, I don't watch serials when a lead is replaced as rule. It has nothing to do with the person replacing the lead - it's about us psychologically casting the actor as the character and turning them into one. And when you've watched the story progress from it's start with one character cum actor, it becomes impossible to keep the flow of the story going when that central figure is replaced.
But - my point here is - Is that the only reason behind a lack of support for SA on this forum? Is it just MR's loyalty that had me traverse through 5 to 6 pages on this forum and find nothing on SA? Or is it more than that? It's an objective question - I'm not blaming anyone. It would make perfect sense if people are not happy with SA BECAUSE he replaceed a favorite. However, is it just that?
I didn't love MR, but I did like his and Nakusha's story, so when he was replaced, I couldn't watch it anymore. Not because of any sense of loyalty or love for MR, but mostly coz Dutta was not Dutta anymore, so Dutta-Nakusha couldn't really go on. Had I not discovered DMG after Riddhima had been replaced twice, I would've stopped watching it too. And I understand many folks have stopped watching LTL since the replacedment? And the TRPs fell to a point they never recovered?
All that is understood, and appreciated. I just wanted to know if SA was unwelcome due to teh shoes he was filling, or was it something else. I, personally, love this guy. From his smile, to his excellence in acting, to the bad, rough man image - love it all. And I keep searching for complete episodes of Kayamath (to no avail I might add), just so I can see more of his acting.
But I wanted to hear your opinions. And all are welcome, provided you don't get defensive and can take an argument, should it develop into one.
Peace,
-S

First of all welcome to the forum! IMO the problem wasnt and isnt SA. Personally I was willing to give him a chance. But once Mishal left the show it was no longer about Dutta or Nakusha. The show became the story of a third character Digamber fondly called Digu. He became the protagonist and the story was told from his point of view. I couldnt connect to this at all. If the show had to be about another character why didnt they simply start a new show with a new name?
I would have definitely given LTL a chance if the story had continued to be Dutta's and Naku's. But obviously people behind the show thought they could make any character as iconic as Dutta. It was all about egos rather than telling a story and entertaining people. SA made a mistake to chose this show to make a comeback.

You have answers in ur query. There is no hate towards SA as is evident even if you scroll down 50 pages u will not get a single article hating him. And the moderators of this forum have done a fantastic job at that. Its just that as u said the magic created by the original dutta[MR] with nakusha was gone on mar 25th 2011 n eversince we r happy with the memories of the vintage LTL. We also realised the character played by SA n others was degraded n twisted to such an extent that it seemed like a completely different show n hence the indifference towards the show n the actors. Yes, there is a huge strong fan following for MR n every aspect of his public life is followed passionately😊

Hello!!
As you might have realized, no one here are against SA.. what went wrong was the absurd storyline and the complete butchering of every character which were the soul of the show...dutta and nakku's story was that one unique fairy tale which we get so rarely...but after Mishal's exit, we could not see even a trace of what LTL portrayed till then.. better they would have ended the show then or would have continued with the same gripping story... but they selected to deviate to some character like Digu who was a poor copy of Dutta...they lost most of the viewers then.. when dutta re entered there was nothing much left for him to do.. a strong character like dutta was also completely butchered by them..it completely lost it's uniqueness once Mishal left and turned out to be just like one of those daily soaps... how can one expect that the show will have the same viewership ? ..and unfortunately it was completely a wrong choice by SA.. ..

Welcome to the forum😊

Personally I stopped watching out of fierce loyalty to the only truly talented actor Mishal. I didnt want to have anything to do with the lot that treated such a powerhouse talent so lowly.
Having said that if seen objectively not only the iconic character Dutta Shriram Patil was made to deflate the story too took a painful nosedive.Tracks made no sense & were laughable at best. The other characters whose characterisation took months to beautifully develop were turned into glorified extras. Newer people who didn't even remotely connect with the main storyline were haphazardly stuffed into just to spice up a not only a bland but immensely stale production. Thus in these circumstances the said Mr Ahluwalia was introduced in an apparent bid to save this sinking ship.Alas he too got lost in the ensuing melee that LTL 2 had become. And I can safely say that most forum members too think this way. From being addicted to forcefully induced drugs, being illiterate, a clueless gangster & a dumb businessman, a suspecting husband to reminding his foster mother about the fosterhood a whole new Dutta was created & shoved down the viewers throat. The Dutta we know & love fanatically was none of those things.Even in his darkest & lonliest period he never behaved the way with his family they showed the new Dutta behave.
I do not have anything against this actor.LTL is my first hindi serial & I haven't even heard of this actor before he decided to join the cast.Talented he may be but he simply could not bring Dutta alive again.

You are most welcome to post your views here. As it is already cleared by zubby, shreya nd others, we're not against SA or his acting. He undoubtedly had made his mark in television industry way before he came to portray Dutta. So, no doubt about his quality. He's a good actor and a good human being, so far i know about him. About choosing dutta as a character to play, ,,,well i won't comment anything about it. Lots of issues were involved in here. and we all have moved on nd looking forward to MR's new show.

All the best.

Hi There

Sorry don't know ur name .
But here what I think ..Well to begin I do not watch Drama shows on Telly .
LTL was my First...the story , the Cast , the style and Simplicity caught my eye .
Everyone out there was doing their Job and doing it brilliantly .

The first blow came in with news of MR leaving , It was not only his leaving that effected ppl out here ...But also the treament bestroded on us by Colors was not a favorable one .

I personally have never seen such ill mannered and self denial ppl like Colors , where they completely deny the existence of the viewers and the verbiage used is not a one worthy of being spoken of .

Then came day when he finally did leave , forget the reason ...that a different story all together .
But things changed ..LTL changed .
SA was brought after a while ...Now let me ensure you that Non of us have any issues with SA ... the issue with Colors ... and SA got struck in middle of this feud .

I will spk for myself ..nd why I could not see SA as D

1) I do not trust a channel like Colors , where I am not respected as a viewer.
so It not SA , I am rejecting it Color's attempt that I have rejected .

2) I personally feel SA is a good looking guy , but if u see a shot of him in the role . You could realize that the make up of D made look messy( thx to colors again) . A big turn off .

3) He did not make us , feel and see the character D .

4) The main reason is , if Mishal left and SA replaced him ...what was the reason to change the entire story and bring new unwanted characters , which made no sense to anyone .
Perhaps if they could struck with original script and maintained their quality of work ...The show would still have done well ..
But the charm was lost

Lastly ...SA and Mishal both good actors and good looking guys in their own way ...But this role was not cut for SA ...he looked very forced and pushed in it ...
It looked as if he was SA acting as D , But SA acting or trying to be they way Mishal would have portrayed the character .. that's where he failed

I hope I did not hurt with my comments , as I have no intention of hurting u or anyone out here .
But if I did then sorry

Love
Priya

hello sunshine!!

welcome to the forum😊!..
liked your post. well written. so joined in with my answers..
why doesn't shabbir have any appreciation threads..
bcoz he did nothing worth appreciating since he came aboard.. harsh but sad truth..
i am a mishal loyalist.. hardcore...
but i loved shabbir as milind. his looks, acting, chemistry with panchi. though kayamath lost its plot down the lane He sparkled..
when he replaced Mishal there was lot of hurt and harsh words.. but when the dust settled down and people willed to give him a chance, to give the character Dutta shriram patil a chance we realized there is no DSP left. the character was butchered episode to episode and so where the rest of all. only one character was thrust into limelight who was not needed in the story at the first place..
disinterest is the word to be used for shabbir here..
his looks, attitude, attire and the shaping of character.. attention was paid to None..
earlier i was angry and upset at him. now i just feel sorry for him. he allowed himself to be taken for a royal ride. what hurts here is that the iconic character Dutta was destroyed in this ride..

Hey! First of all welcome to the forum.
I'was and I'm madly in love with Dutta Shriram Patil played by Mishal Raheja. So, when he left I was heart broken, crying buckets etc, etc, etc. They introduced a new character "Digamber" who gave us a impression as if he's here to replace DSP. I felt bad really really bad. Then came the news that SA is going to replace MR as dutta. I had never ever seen any of the tv projects of SA but had watched his movie. Being a student of Film criticism I was apprehensive about his performance as dutta, coz in my opinion it's almost impossible to beat MR when it comes to "speaking the unspoken through expressions". I was very very sad and was not even willing to give him a chance as a viewer. But some where I felt relieved that the super star status he enjoy's on TV, he will never let any partiality, any injustice happen to dutta. But the lethal don became a "chai wala" and he did nothing. i remember in one of his interviews he mentioned that how thrilled he is at the thought of playing a don. This clearly shows that he had no idea that soon he'll asked to play to a "chai wala". So, when the character he was playing suddenly started going down the drains to such an extent that it became a sidey one and diggu was the main lead, why didn't he raised a voice of protest in the betterment of the character, why didn't he simply refused to play the unexpected. Today the scenario is so worst that this dutta is not even a caricature of earlier dutta.
As a person I've nothing against SA or in favour of MR coz I don't know either of them personally. But as an actor Mr. Ahluwalia has highly disappointed me. I mean in shootout he was not at all bad. I've my full sympathies with SA as I know replacing an actor is no easy business. Some times Characters are owned by the actor just like "Gabbar Singh" by Amzad Khan, but then we have "Akbar" now equally claimed by Pritviraj sahab and HR and even equally acclaimed. So, I can understand that may be this time things really didn't fell rightly for SA and judging his acting skills just on the basis of this venture where the creatives themselves were insanely up to butcher the show and the iconic character DSP would be unfair.
But as a viewer I asked SA to ensure that dutta proceed to it's end in a manly way. Did I asked too much?

It was really nice to have you here,I loved the way you put forward your thoughts, without hurting any one. I know my post isn't neutral but i not at all intend to hurt you or any SA fan. If I did, I apologise from the bottom of my heart.
Hope to have you more on the forum
Regards!
Aishwarya
