In theory, I like the idea of Madhu. A sister to Dutta...a connection that helps him make peace with the memory of his father, of the changed man his father had become, how people can and do change in life after making mistakes. She adds a dimension to his personal development, his past...separate from what LTL has always been about--Naku "changing" him.
However, I dislike this character for a couple of reasons:
1) she came in at the wrong time...it makes sense for her to come after DP's death, but her bubbliness after her father died a terrible death made her look like an idiot. And the CVs explanation didn't cut it with me....that she really didn't see her father...so what? Does that mean she has no basic respect for a man who made sure she had a good life, education, etc? Hell, we on this forum mourned more for DP than she.😆
2) her actions upon arrival....it was so SUPER CHEESY for her to be there to go wedding shopping and have girly talks with her bhabhi and all this cutesy stuff with Baji. And that whole thing about her wanting Dutta to marry the day after his father died. Kya baat hain, CVs? Did you leave your good taste at home that day? Arre, I'll say it--it was all so dumb that it defies LOGIC.
The LTL CVs, writers are MASTERS of characterization...of adding depth, mystery, emotion...yet they utterly failed this character and what she could have been. Now she's just this empty shell of a person who lives in the niwas with no point of existing. It's just bizarre to introduce someone as CLOSE as a sister to Dutta and then to have her just hang around the niwas and attend wedding functions.
I'm sorry, I'm not sure why they are paying Soni Singh. They have no real story for her...she's just like Jagpat and Anna and the lot of them who come to CONVENIENTLY help Dutta and Naku get closer and then drop dead. Perhaps, she should have eaten that poisoned mithai...at least then she would have had a purpose.
I'm very disappointed. I expected more. And if Madhu now all of a sudden is the messenger of peace between Dutta and Naku, I'm going to be even more disappointed. Such a situation is so typical of these serials. Do us a favor, CVs. Let Madhu lie quietly until Dutta comes back....don't turn her into a Sherlock Holmes who helps Baji discover the truth....just have her be there when Dutta gets back and let him and her get to know each other and about their father. And let us see her personality, sincerity, etc. Because right now, she's a total BOBBLEHEAD....I expect her to say to Naku, after Dutta leaves the house, "do you want to go shopping?" Because if a death can't stop the good times of shopping, then what's a little thing like Dutta leaving the house angry?😆
