Most people I have met tend to have this view that we need to forgive the person who did something bad to us for HIM....no actually, forgiveness is not about the person its about us...when you forgive some one you are actually releasing the karmic bonds that chain you to that person...till the time those bonds exist...consciously or subconsciously that person will keep affecting you...the moment you forgive him....you have untied those bonds and now you will no longer be affected by that person's doing.....

its like a person physically hurts me and keeps hurting me....i need to move away instead of hurting him because as long as i hurt him he will keep hurting me...but the moment i move away....he will no longer be able to affect me....moreover, forgving a person also means we have forgiven ourselves for being hurt by that person.....at this moment dutta is angry at himself as well as his dad....he needs to forgive both and let go.....he is lucky he has naku because when you are in love and you have some one like naku...you are bound to heal and forgive......

Forgiving is important to heal oneself - It is easier said than done. Most of us are mortals and unable to forgive in real... but if we are indeed able to do that, it ends up breaking a lot of chains as you said. In case of Dutta, the thoughts chain him. For him, it is more about being able to accept the fact of his parentage than even forgiving - because honestly, his biological father is a bigger perpetrator of Aayisaheb and Dutta is not able to accept that fact that he is the son of such a man and that this woman brought him up so selflessly. The day he makes peace with his past - he will be able to let go of those thoughts that make him vulnerable. And, forgiving does not mean being weak. The person who forgives, is stronger than he who can hold on to a resentment. As they say, When you hold resentment toward another, you are bound to that person or condition by an emotional link that is stronger than steel. Forgiveness is the only way to dissolve that link and get free." So yeah, I agree with you that it is a way to break the chains of thoughts that bind.

Chinuji...well said....
What I have learnt till now is that whatever happens in the world outside, if that affects you, then the problem is you....If someone gives you pain, then again, its you who are the reason....now, why is tht because u expected a lot from him....it was YOUR expectation....Now, Dutta never knew DP but he had an image of his "father"....that is nothing but expectation....and when a living man was put in front of him that didnt match the figure, Dutta was aghast!!...The man broke his expectations at lot many counts....Now, Dutta not forgiving DP, might be a sad state of affair for DP but more than that it's affecting Dutta!!....If Dutta doesnt wanna have anythig to do with DP, then would he forget him?? No....and thats where the problem is....It also boils down to inner self....Even if DP leaves today, Dutta woud take this wound forever.....and thats where forgiveness comes in...Forgive and heal YOUR OWN wound...Naku wants Dutta to not suffer....she is not thinkign about DP yet...(although she would because he is terminally ill) but she is more worried at Dutta's stae thats killing him from inside....she knwos that the only soution for him to stop thinking about that is when he finds a permanent solution to this - forgive DP....Once he does that, his inner state and exterior front would be in complete harmony with each other.....
DP kaa toh baad mein sochenge!!...abhi toh Dutta ka sawaal hai!!.....when u dnt forgive, one needs to remember, u harm urself too in the process
See KALA for eg...She hasnt been able to forgive DP till now...she has taken th wrong done on her so strongly that she changed her character, became evil and started torturing an innocent child....The plots and trickeries affected Dutta's life...fine...but did it not affect kala....That woman has become out and out evil.....she is never at peace, all the time looking at her back....is she in any good state?? nope....but if she forgives DP...wouldnt she be able to enjoy her own life a little better?

thank you beautiful people for such great replies and insights.....

yes, forgiveness is more about your own self than it is about the other party...actually from what i now understand, positive emotions like forgiveness doing good are actually more selfish acts than selfless.....dont get me wrong..they are great acts no doubt...but when you do them...you actually end your own suffering.....why? because all of us are in some way connected to each other....we are all one...all souls on the earth to learn lessons...when we do something bad to some one we are actually doing it to ourselves...so invariably it will come back to us.....same is the case when we do something good.....forgiveness is more about healing from within and forgiving ourselves........

some one told me all of us in this universe are like waves of the ocean...though you see the wave as an induvidual entity.....its actually the smaller part of the bigger ocean...so whatever affects one person affects the others...and thats the reason why things like telepathy, intution etc exist because we are all a part of the bigger consciousness!

lol..i hope its not an overload of gyan

I loved all your replies my friends,............What DD wrote is also my personal experience....I am not shy to bring it here........The person I loved hurt me so much that I was in deep agony for past 2years and could not recover from that pain until this year where I am more positive because I forgive him from my heart and now I am much happier and that burden has lifted from me.........not forgiving made me all sick and depressed but the day I forgive him I much relieved and happier and I agree when u forgive someone the burden is lifted from you and you feel much better. I agree with chinu and evryone's view that forgiveness is the best thing to bring life to yr dead soul when u r v hurt..........also I feel that once you forgive, your wounds are burried and they don't get refreshed evry now n then............for dutta he needs to forgive his dad to let go of the pain and burden he is carrying these days........
