TV families give WAF a thumbs up!
They came in all sizes and shapes. Mumbai's television fraternity who are reverred names in homes across India turned up in full force to lend support to Siddharth P Malhotra's family saga We Are Family in response to Karan Johar's invite that said the film was a tribute to the "Indian television fraternity that has done such a wonderful job of keeping alive the theme of families and relationships evening after evening in millions of homes in India and around the world."
Mahi Vij (the Madhuri Dixit of the small screen), Reema Lagoo (the favourite mother), the Roy brothers Ronit (a huge craze after his role in Udaan) and Rohit, Shilpa Saklani, Ishita Arun, Kashmira Shah (showing ample thigh!), actress-cum-film-maker Renuka Shahane, the familiar Chetan Hansraj, Varun Badola with his pretty wife Raageshwari, Hiten and Gauri... God, the list is endless.
Ekta Kapoor's proteges were there in full force. The ones who got the maximum eyeballs were Veer and Tapasya of Uttaran. And, of course, one also saw the regulars like Delnaaz Paul, Tanaaz and Bakhtiyar Irani sniffing into their tissues.
Yes, Kajol and Kareena Kapoor managed to get most of the television actresses to break down and cry with their superlative performances in this happy-n-weepy family drama. And Arjun, who is natural eye-candy, also managed to get his share of sighs and moans from the women of the small screen. "I hate you Karan and Siddharth," said one of the famous bahus. "You guys made me cry so much that I ruined my eye-make up." Mahi Vij even told Siddharth that she would pray for the success of his WAF. So moved was the debutant director that this once he was close to tears!
