Nightmare averted!

Recently, Smriti Irani went through a bad scare when husband Zubin almost lost his eyesight. He had rinsed his lenses in a solution which was obviously contaminated and contained some foreign particles. The particles got stuck to his lens and caused a severe corneal abrasion. When contacted, Smriti said, "It all happened so suddenly. He complained of blurred vision after wearing his lenses. After few minutes, he said that he couldn't see at all."

Smriti and Zubin rushed to an eye specialist. Said Smriti, "The doctor (name withheld on request) got us even more scared. He said that an immediate surgery was required."

Smriti spoke to some of her relatives who asked her to go to Dr Anand Shroff. "Dr Shroff was a saviour. He gave Zubin the right medication and set things right."

As soon as Zubin's eye healed, Smriti and Zubin went for a visit at the Mahakaleshwar temple in Ujjain. Apparently, Smriti had kept a mannat that she would do a puja there once her husband recovers. "That was my thanksgiving visit. We went on October 28, which incidentally is Zubin's birthday. After the maha aarti, Zubin and I performed a special puja," Smriti said.

When contacted, Zubin said, "Thank God the nightmare is over."
