Ketaki Dave tired of being Dakshaben

No-nonsense schoolteacher

She is now seen as a schoolteacher called Mrs Khatri in Jassi Jaissi Koi Nahin. "Mrs Khatri is a no-nonsense, morally upright teacher. She is a firm believer in values," says Dave about her character.

She will feature in the Sony drama for a month. At the moment, the track has Jassi, who is now known as Neha Shastri, taking up teaching in a school. "Mrs Khatri sounds her off as usual," laughs Dave.

Skits n gags

Besides Jassi, Dave is also seen in Bechara Big B on Zee Smile. She is also looking forward to a new show called Ek Ghanta Comedy that is scheduled to air on Zee Smile.

Ek Ghanta Comedy includes skits and gags. "This is a relief as I will be doing gags instead of playing a character," says the excited actress.

Telly fatigue

The reason why she is not doing television is because whatever is offered is on similar lines. "I can't go on being a Dakshaben on every show. I want to move on to new characters," complains the actress.

On the big screen she was last seen in Nikhil Advani's Kal Ho Naa Ho in which she played Saif Ali Khan's mother. She has also done Manmohan Singh's Punjabi film, Yaara Naal Baharaan, which starred Juhee Babbar and Anupam Kher. "I played the Gujarati wife of a Punjabi man," she says.

Playtime

On the theatre front, the spunky actress featured in Parni Na Pastaya and in Mrs Manjula Marfatlal BA LLB. "I am looking at a new play post Jassi," she adds.
