Naman Shaw talks work

Heartthrob of millions all over the world, Naman Shaw says he has always wanted to be famous and make lots of money. Considering the name he is making for himself in the television circle it looks like Naman might just get what he wished for…

On becoming an actor
I am originally from Calcutta. My entire family is into business and none of them are into acting or films. But I always wanted to become famous so acting was the only way I could see myself becoming famous and that's how I got into acting and modelling. I got into Grasim Mr. India where I reached the top 10 and also won the best smile. After that I took part in another competition – Zee Cinestars Ki Khoj. After that I dropped off my photos at various production houses. Then I got a call from Balaji and after auditioning I got Kasamh Se then I got Kyunki… then Kasturi and now I am in Kasauti too.

On sets I have most fun with…
I'd say the Kasamh Se team because it's my first show and the entire team is like a family there. Unfortunately right now my track isn't going anywhere in the show so I've not been able to work with them for so long now.

On actors being friends…
I have lots of friends who are actors. Prachi Desai (Bani), Siddharth (Ranvir), Manav Vij (Joydeep) are all very close friends of mine. I think pretty much everyone I work with is a good friend of mine.

On strange experiences with fans…
There have been a lot of incidents with them. Just recently there was a nineteen year old girl from Pune who had come to Film City … it was like 12 at night. She wanted to come home and stay with me. I was just so scared so I got into my van and then she jumped into my van too! Then we had to call the local police there so they could take her away. Normally fans come over and say they like you or they want photographs but none of them say they want to come home with you…That was a little strange.

On my days off…
I catch up on my sleep. Then I make it a point to go to the gym on my day off. I often catch up with my friends over coffee too.
