hmm, let's see if i can do this. i haven't seen these old parts of this show, just read updates and people writing on the forum. here goes:

damini was married to gautam at the same time as ganga was married to sahil. all was happy. both damini and ganga were pregnant. ganga was pregnant after a long time of not being able to be pregnant (i think!).

there was some incident, and damini tripped down those dreadfully long stairs. ganga noticed and pitched forward to save her. in the process, damini's babies got saved, but ganga lost her baby. when damini finally delivered, she had twins. she and gautam decided to give one to ganga - 'cause, after all, she'd saved them!

later on, apparently, they found that mayank was mentally challenged. gautam wanted to take nakul back. but damini was fair and agreed ganga should keep nakul as her own child, because she had brought him up to that point and nakul thought of ganga as mom.
