Jaya Bhattacharya, TV actor, on why she doesn't want to do only negative roles.

Do you regret doing negative roles on TV? Your role of Payal in Kyunki Saas Bhi Kabhi Bahu Thi is the quintessential baddie...

I have nothing against negative characters. Even Amrish Puri essayed so many of them and found recognition. It's just that I don't want to get bracketed in a sphere that restricts my growth as an actor.

Are daily soaps losing their sheen?

Movies for you?

Acting is most realistic in film, more realistic in serials and surreal in theatre. I want to produce a sensible film. I've done small-time roles in films like Devdas, Lajja and Sirf Tum but I admit it's my fault that I never made an effort to use them as a launch pad. But things will take shape when the right time comes.
