Juhi Parmar
TV actress
"I come out of a character when I hear the word "cut" from the director and that's why my onscreen roles have not affected my personality"
Ramy > Hi Juhi, recently we read about how actress Sakshi Tanwar got so carried away with her onscreen character that her mental health was effected. Does playing a character take a toll on actresses?
Juhi Parmar > It solely depends on the individual. I am an absolutely spontaneous actress. And I don't believe in method acting. That's why it has really not affected me at all. I definitely come out of my character when I hear the word "cut" from my director.
Monica > Who do you think is the hottest male in the television industry? Do you have any boyfriends?
Juhi Parmar > First of all, I don't have any boyfriends. I haven't found my Mr. Right yet. I don't want to get in to any controversies so will not name any one here.
Clone > Film actresses also play intense roles. Why don't they get affected like TV actresses? Is it because the hours of work is too much in TV? What kind of pressures do you people face?
Juhi Parmar > There is a huge difference between TV and films (working pattern). In films you start and it gets over within a year after which you move on to another character. Whereas TV actresses, especially the protagonists, keep playing the same role for years. And when you keep doing the same role again and again, almost everyday of shoot, at times you tend to get affected. But it depends on (and differs from) individual to individual. The working hours are too much. Our minimum working hours are for12 hours a day.
Rahul_from_delhi > Would you like to enter Bollywood if you receive any offer?
Juhi Parmar > I would love to since I love dancing. But it depends on how good the film is and how neat and clean it is.
Jadu > You once said that you literally lived the role of Shaheen (in TV serial Shaheen ). So you did get carried away with your character? How did you cope with the problem?
Juhi Parmar > I didn't get carried away with the character. While shooting when I was playing Shaheen, I felt her pain and it goes the same with Kumkum because as a human one tends to think about the problems the character is facing and imagine what if it had happened to you as well.
Rahul_from_delhi > Would you like to do some negative roles also? Or, you want to remain decent and obedient bahu like Kumkum?
Juhi Parmar > In TV I would not want to do negative roles because to be the lead (or play the protagonist) you have to be positive. But in films one can experiment with all this and still be the heroine of the film. As a film actress I would love to (play negative roles) but not for TV.
Jatin2kin > Which TV actor and actress are your favourites and why?
Juhi Parmar > I love Shefali Shah (Manoj Bajpaipai's wife in the film, Satya ). I think she emotes tremendously with her eyes and I love the way she can hold tears in her eyes. And Hussain (Sumit in Kumkum ) because he is a great co-actor to work with and a very dedicated an actor.
Monicajavv > We get to see lot of your onscreen chemistry ? How good is your off screen chemistry?
Juhi Parmar > With who?
Aliza1 > Hi Juhi, I am from Pakistan. When is your birthday?
Juhi Parmar > It's December 14. I have just been to Pakistan and I love Karachi.
Fan > How was your first experience in front of the camera?
Juhi Parmar > Exciting !
Jatin2kin > After being Miss Rajasthan, didn't you ever think of participating in the Miss India contest?
Juhi Parmar > I thought of it but my height is not enough to participate in that. I am 5'4.5" in height.
Rahul_from_delhi > By which name do your fans call you – Juhi or Kumkum?
Juhi Parmar > Most of them call me Juhi but there are a few who call me Kumkum.
Mirchi > You replaced Nausheen Ali Sardar in Kkusum . Nausheen was very popular. Did you feel over shadowed by her popularity?
Juhi Parmar > I am not there in Kkusum at all! You are mistaken.
Monicajavv > Who in the television industry is very close to your heart, as a friend and guide?
Juhi Parmar > There is a friend of mine who I take advice from - Hussain (Sumit in K umkum ).
Jatin2kin > Please tell me about your nature in real life? Are you an introvert or an extrovert?
Juhi Parmar > I am an absolute extrovert. Totally my opposite in Kumkum . She keeps crying and I keep laughing and smiling. Also, I am very short tempered and that's one thing I am trying to control a lot.
Clone > Honestly, do you think girls, especially from small towns, take part in beauty pageants only to get a job in films or get into modelling? Isn't there a chance of them being exploited?
Juhi Parmar > Exploitation totally depends on how you react to people who try to exploit you. I have never been exploited because I was sure of my talent. Being in films or modelling is a very individual decision.
Nischal12 > Which was your most happiest moment in life till now?
Juhi Parmar > There are so many happy moments. I really can't name one.
Gayatri > How and why did you become an actress? Were you a model before?
Juhi Parmar > I was born to act. I always knew I had to become an actress. I didn't model before starting to act - apart from contesting for Miss Rajathan if you call it modelling. I can't think of being anything else but an actress.
Jatin2kin > May I know about your family?
Juhi Parmar > My family consists of parents, a younger sister who is doing her fashion designing and a pet Boski (cross breed of German shepherd and golden retriever). A small and happy family. My parents are in Jaipur and my sister has just shifted to Mumbai to do her fashion-designing course.
Monicajavv > What would you do if the serial Kumkum takes a leap of 20 years? Would you still work in the serial? How many serials are you working in now?
Juhi Parmar > If Kumkum takes a leap I wouldn't want to play a mother to someone who would be somewhere around my age. And I think I wouldn't look that old either. If they get me back to the show keeping me young in a different way then only I will continue. I am currently doing another serial Devi and I have just completed a Pakistan serial called Tere Ishq Mein.
Neelamsingh_singh > What is the importance of award in your life?
Juhi Parmar > It's important because you get to know how much you are loved and how much your performance is appreciated by the audience and that's why audience poll awards mean more to me than jury awards.
Nischal13 > Isn't there any offer to you from Ektaa Kapoor?
Juhi Parmar > There have been a couple of times that I have got calls from Balaji mostly for some special appearances but somehow something or the other didn't work. So, I haven't been able to work with her.
Nischal13 > When will we see glamorous Juhi Parmar? Please tell me Kumkum bhabhi.
Juhi Parmar > I am also awaiting the day I will be able to play a role like that where audiences will see me in a different avtaar (mould).
Neelamsingh_singh > Will you mind playing older roles?
Juhi Parmar > Yeah, I do mind playing older roles and I do not want to do it because old age is going to come one day and I won't have the choice to play young roles. So, I might as will enjoy the roles of my age.
Sign Off Message > Thanks for showing interest in talking to me and making me feel loved. And I apologize to all those I haven't been able to answer due to time limit. I will try and make up for it the next time. Keep loving me!
