Makes Perfect (Business) Sense: Tina Darira and Hussain
Not a novice to the garment business, Hussain's wife Tina Darira now wants to become a full-fledged designer with her own line in the future.
On her way to Lonavala with Hussain for a short break, she says, "I have supervised deals and watched how the industry (textile) functions.
I've also studied client demands. Now, I want to start my own line of clothes. It's a natural transition for me."
New turf
Tina has already designed for Hussain, which he will be sporting on Indian Idol 3 this week. "I asked the channel and the show's creative heads if I could design for Hussain.
After they agreed, I came up with a metallic grey suit for the Gala round, as they wanted something formal yet trendy," she says.
Tina is working closely with two friends Satyam and Rachna on starting the label. "We've been brainstorming and have a couple of names in mind," says Tina.
When asked if she will design more outfits for Hussain, she says, "Definitely. I won't miss a chance to design for him. Also, I know his comfort level so that won't be an issue."
When quizzed if she has any plans of acting, she says, "I am happy doing reality shows like Nach Baliye. I don't want to act in a daily soap. Now, I want to focus on turning entrepreneur with my fashion label," she says.
