Jan 3/17 Reactions - Episode 748 aka "When Aaliya says she hates Purab and Pragya wonders if Purab's fallen for her"

What is Mina Show?
When I watch an episode and react with random comments/recaps moments that struck my attention

Can I comment?
While I am watching the episode, the thread has "Res" for a title, and I would ask for no comments then please so that all of my reactions can flow together. After that yes of course you can comment 😊

You're welcome to agree or disagree but I'm not likely to respond with a detailed defense to any particular argument against a comment in the live reactions. At the same time, I am entirely likely to ramble endlessly with philosophical expansions on a live reaction from time to time 😉

I seem to have missed a few minutes of the beginning - sounds like Aaliya was saying something repugnant. Oh and look, she continues. This whole scene is repugnant. Hope the non-online audience enjoyed the explanation of every little detail. Personally I could have done completely without this scene because it's all stuff I've already guessed or heard about.

Aaliya is delusional if she thinks this plan would make Abhi exile both Purab and Pragya out of his life forever. I mean can anyone seriously believe this? And don't they learn, every time they put Pragya down, Abhi doesn't accept it and finds a way to "forgive" her for the supposed fault? Lame.

What I haven't heard in this scene is how they were so sure that Purab would accept that the photos showed romance. I'm not listening that closely though because as I said I found the whole scene repugnant.

It's like they're trying to build a romance track between Tanu and Nikhil with all this cute apologizing?? WHY does Tanu want to marry Abhi, please remind me? Is she after his money again? I'm so confused.

I did like that they explained the situation in terms of their (utterly disgusting) perversion of the story of Sita and the Lakshman-Rekha. I expect to see that kind of reference in a serial so at least they're doing something that makes sense for the genre.

Oh look Aaliya is wondering why Purab accepted it too. And her guess is that Purab may actually have fallen for Pragya. WHAT EVEN. Heights of delusion. Lazy writing from script people.

Daadi's bhai-behen line, I wonder if the writers picked up from social media? Because the show has never emphasized this in those specific words to the extent that protesting fans did when the first reference of this track came out.

Pragya's wondering what Abhi must be thinking of her. LORD WHAT IS THE PROBLEM. Pragya? Abhi thinks you're in a relationship with his best friend. There's pretty much nothing shameful in this. He doesn't know who Purab is to you, which is the only thing that makes this idea acquire a tinge of shame.

Awww, I love that Pragya gets to unload her frustrations at Purab. If anything that shows apnapan - if she truly felt he was paraya, she wouldn't feel able to yell at him. And Purab truly has a lot of explaining to do, there were other ways he could have responded and the way he chose didn't make sense.

Blah blah blah sharam blah. WHO? Who thinks this is a question of sharam? All of Mehra house. BUT WHY? No one's making sense. Everyone knows anything that happens in this house is because of some ploy or plot.

Purab seriously thinks his answer made sense. He thought a lot about it and he strategized his response to bring AbhiGya together.

Honestly, it's so frustrating to me - if Purab had told Abhi about being Pragya's brother in law, it would have opened a new arena of drama. They didn't need to do THIS. They did it just to drag. They didn't do what I'm suggesting because it would move the story forward. But why must they fear moving the story forward? There is drama and excitement and TRP potential in what happens after Abhi is told this fact. Instead, yet another two steps forward one step back shuffle and false progress.

Oh gosh can Pragya please just go home and rest? She has to keep fighting through this episode. So unnecesary.

Poison only cuts poison says Purab. Ummm well Purab you could also try antiseptics. Broad scale antibiotics. A whole category of things actually called anti-poison.

Back to a Taaliyakhil scene. Useless pointless nothing happening here.

Aaliya makes a cancer metaphor. See there IS intelligence on this writing team. It comes out in little lines, not overall story shifts.

Nikhil getting upset at Tanu not having her own opinions. Thali ka baignan. Honestly is this supposed to be comedy, the constant fighting? Nikhil was supposed to be a one night stand, why does Tanu still care about him at all.

Aaliya, as I have said so often, you need better friends.

Aaliya thinks Abhi is not going to eye his bhabhi and now Pragya is his bhabhi. D-e-l-u-s-i-o-n-a-l. But hey maybe we can't blame her. She doesn't know Abhi like we viewers do. Pragya already has a place in Abhi's heart and mind, and it's not bhabhi. He is not going to just automatically reassign her and be properly differential from here on out. Also, logical inconsistency much? If he now hates Purab, the "girl belongs to my friend" factor doesn't fit you know??

Prags is so so so tired. Bechari. She wants to give up. Poor baby. Please give up and heal yourself and stay away from all of this. Not a single one of these people wants what will make you whole and happy. Not even that man you so hopelessly love. Pragya ❤️

Epi ends with Purab insisting this is all going to bring out what's in Abhi's heart. Ummm? What happens when you unleash inchoate chaos? Nothing good, that's what. Whatever is in Abhi's heart, he doesn't understand it, he can't name it, and forcing him to vomit it up is really not going to achieve anything but making a greater mess.

But perhaps Purab is not in a position to see that.

Precap - what caught my interest is that Pragya tells TaAliya that not even Abhi's hatred or his memory loss could separate them. Hatred? Is that about revenge marriage track? ...Oh dear lord. Even as I type this, I realize it's about Mugambo track. Of course.

Small gestures at continuity. But overall the whole concept if "making sense" is in disastrous ruins on this show. Looking for sense makes my head hurt. And I know I oughtn't look at all...can't help it sometimes 😕

Overall, utterly pointless, time-killing episode. Perhaps enjoyable to casual viewers, since the whodunit-factor of breaking down the villain's plan could perhaps be interesting if you didn't already guess it, and since the argument between Pragya and Purab was pretty emotional. I didn't enjoy it. I'm sorry Sriti has to cry so much. I hope they write something better for her soon - at least in the promo about the PurGya thing she's determined and then happy. I want to know where Abhi's at on all this, and there wasn't a single scene with him today. Very disappointing. But I'll look forward to Purab elaborating on his plan tomorrow. I think it's nonsense, but that's because I don't believe there's anything in Abhi's heart that is ready to come out yet. Purab doesn't think so, so I wonder how he sees all this falling out.

One thing I have to comment on, Aaliya says that her love for Purab has turned into hate. So we're supposed to take this for serious and final right? We're not ever going to slide back to Aaliya chasing Purab? See I don't trust the CVs to remember this. This is a huge departure for them. Aaliya has done things to hurt Purab before and she's even said at various points that she hates him for not choosing her, but she's never completely given up on him. Has she done so now? I think we're supposed to believe that but let's see what we see.

EDIT: Caught up on the opening minutes I missed. Aaliya gives a detailed catalogue of all she suffered due to loving Purab madly, and says she needs to put him through the same. That makes her declaration of hate more convincing. I'm still surprised CVs have finally done this.

Also, the show is giving all these bhabhi-dewar bhai-behen dialogues. Both apply to PurGya but the show can't decide which to favour. Honestly I think if you look back on it, they didn't do much to emphasize bhabhi-dewar before; Abhi's "bhai-bhai" equation with Purab took a backseat to AbhiGya drama for so long. So, we've seen PurGya interaction mainly through the frame of RaBul than AbhiRab - emblematized in how he calls her DI and pretty much has never called her bhabhi.

Nivz, you had mentioned once that you wanted me to give grades to episodes. I guess this would get a C.

And for anyone wondering, dad didn't watch the episode.

Thanks for tuning in to Mina show!
