She thought of informing him that she was coming to meet him but then thought of giving him a surprise. She took her cycle and started riding through the roads while getting wet in rain. The rain drops on her spectacles made it difficult for her to see the road. She took them off and put it on the cycle's basket as she could manage without her glasses. She felt that she shouldn't have made him wait so long but she wasn't doing it intentionally. He was her childhood friend and she really didn't know when he started seeing her as more than a friend. They had similar tastes but the only thing that differentiated them was that she associated rain with happiness but he associated it with crying. Whenever it rained, he felt that someone was crying. Somehow, he couldn't think rain as a cause for happiness.
She saw a nursery on the way and her mind raced back 6 months.
"Planting trees is good but what is the emergency to do it now", he said looking down at her while holding an umbrella over her. She was still placing the sapling in the hole she dug with her muddy hands. She reasoned that it would be raining most of the time, they shouldn't be waiting for situation to help them but take responsibility and do things as soon as they think. She started her lecture about doing things immediately but stopped when she heard him tell those magical three words. She replied "I love you too" and started washing her hands in the rain drops. He repeated, "I love you Pragya". She realized that he didn't mean it like a friend and stood up. She looked at him in order to ensure what he was saying and he was firm.
She neither accepted nor rejected his proposal. She behaved as usual with him except the times when he asked whether she loves him or not. She either wouldn't reply anything or tell him that he is a good friend to her. She felt that she didn't love him but she didn't want to lose his friendship either. She feared that if she rejected his proposal, he might stop being casual with her and another reason was she didn't want to hurt him.
She came back to present hearing a loud horn. She would have almost hit a car and her face was frozen in shock. The driver started scolding her for being careless and she was still frozen in shock. The driver started his car thinking it was of no use talking to her. She started riding again and it started raining heavier as if her cycle speed and the rain were related. Luckily, the road to his house was a downslope and she reached there just on time.
He was wearing a raincoat and was getting his baggages on the car. His grandpa saw Pragya and patted him to look at her. He was happy to see her.
"I was wondering whether I could see you before going. Actually, I was planning to come to your home before going to the Airport. Look at you. Your sweater seems to be heavier than my baggage", he said with a laugh. He asked her to help him with the baggage. She lifted his baggage and helped him get it into the car. "I love you", she said while closing the car boot. He looked at her surprised. "I love you Abhishek", she almost shouted at him. He asked him what changed her heart. She told that her mom was talking about her marriage with a neighbour and the first thought that came to her mind after hearing the word marriage was him. "That's how I realized I love you", she told him blushing.
"Can we celebrate?", he asked her. She stared at him wanting to know how. She took off his raincoat and took her away from their car to a vacant space. "You don't know? It's raining and we should dance", he said as their foreheads met. She held his hands and they started dancing slowly. "God is crying", she said smiling. "Yes, god is shedding happy tears", he replied.
