One more thing, my country is fighting for empowerment of women and almost succeeding.
There is a lot of change in parents. They treat their daughters equally to a son which was not the case in the previous era.

There is life outside the kitchen too, there is so much to do in life other than serving your sasural and your husband. You can stand up on your feet, you don't need anyone support. This is what my dad told me when I was 13-14. He wanted me to have an identity for myself not as his daughter today and some one else wife a few years later.

But my older folks are not like that. This shows target the older folks, the regressive audience. Aren't these shows regressive that way? I mean to say this soap targets people who belive in a woman being a perfect wife, daughter in law, daughter etc.
If this keeps happening, how will their mind set change?

I remember hearing ladies in my village talk like they want a DIL like "Pragya"( some Telugu serial character)

Lol I am thinking too much but whenever I see this shows above face value. I get really irritated at the concept.

Tia, Abhi should sing Billy Joel's Honesty, another great song for what his situation. Such a lonely word - love that part!

You are so right.. this song suits him and his everyone in his life.. Pragya,Tannu alike.

"Honesty"

If you search for tenderness
It isn't hard to find
You can have the love you need to live
But if you look for truthfulness
You might just as well be blind
It always seems to be so hard to give

Honesty is such a lonely word
Everyone is so untrue
Honesty is hardly ever heard
And mostly what I need from you

I can always find someone
To say they sympathize
If I wear my heart out on my sleeve
But I don't want some pretty face
To tell me pretty lies
All I want is someone to believe

Honesty is such a lonely word
Everyone is so untrue
Honesty is hardly ever heard
And mostly what I need from you

I can find a lover
I can find a friend
I can have security
Until the bitter end
Anyone can comfort me
With promises again
I know, I know

When I'm deep inside of me
Don't be too concerned
I won't ask for nothin' while I'm gone
But when I want sincerity
Tell me where else can I turn
Cause you're the one that I depend upon

Honesty is such a lonely word
Everyone is so untrue
Honesty is hardly ever heard
And mostly what I need from you

IDK if Pragya kind of dils are still around, Rishu. Maybe only tv characters are like that. You're right, girls are raised equally like sons. That's great!

Rishu, my argument always is this. When Abhi tortured Pragya, she had a choice to call him on that.. to tell truth, to walk away..

He never tried to stop her activities, hold her hostage, not give her freedom that way.. Nor did he confesticate her finaces or rights..

I don't blame on Abhi that Pragya decided to endure his taunts..

A real life person would haev taken it to media given Abhi was a celeb.

I do blame Abhi for taking a decision like marriage for revenge..

But here, Pragya has occupied Abhi's wealth, business etc..and he has no truth, no choice to oversee what's going on and take a decision on that.He is going by gut feelings as he confessed the other day.

A real life person would have gone to court lol.. and not held on to feelings.

I don't blame Abhi because I belive feminism is equality, it's preserving the self respect of a woman, it's about fighting back when something is wrong, not blaming men.

I would have loved Pragya fighting back agisnt Abhi by telling him the truth the days she knew about Marraige. Letting him misunderstand her and Facing the torture is not right.

Though I pity her, how can I blame him alone for this. He is a nice person who is on a Misunderdtanding.

I do get angry on him, a lot sometimes like the seducing stuff.
At the end of the day I feel it's all because of Pragya lack of ability to speak up that makes Abhi like this.

I was born and raised in India.. I hardly felt my parents asking me to be like a perfect TV soap heroine character.. I have been raised like Aaliyah that way (minus the crazy evil issues).
But..
Rishu, we can't ignore there are still girls in India not allowed to study, not allowed to be what they want..

Even in Mogambo track for that matter Rishu.. Pragya always gets into troubles because of lack of good plans, lack of judgement regarding Tannu. Abhi does not put her into troubles here..
So I again don't blame him for the issues she goes through in this track. He did not cause them. He did not ask her to take up this mission. He is only supporting it in one way by standing up for her in many cases. And his hope/belief is Fuggy also allows Pragya to carry on.

Prani, it's not the same everywhere 😭
I don't know if you watch Telugu shows but there is show Manchu Lakshmi is doing "memu Saitham"

It has Tollywood stars helping people who are in need. A very good show.
It's telecasted once a week.

Last week I was shocked to know about the family in need. The couple have 6 children, 5 daughters and 1 son. They had so many because they wanted a son. The lady said if she gave birth to son first she would have stopped with him. I was speechless.

Like 6 kids to have a son? When they don't have the ability raise even one!

It's not the same everywhere Prani.. 😭 we look at stuff around us and think it's all fine but no it's not fine.

Maybe in this show, they're trying to show what one has to do for family's sake! Abhi and Pragya put their family first and do that their elders want.

Do you remember one girl in this forum ( sorry don't want to name) who got a 96% in 10th and told us she is happy she joined the 11th class but she is not sure if she will be able to join college after 12th because her parents may get her married.

That was so disheartening. She has a lot of dreams but then I don't know how far she will be able to make it. 😭

I talked with her a lot but she was saying its her family rule to get their daughter Married quick.

I had classmates who were married after school and did not study further.
