Daily soaps keep on making stories along the way , testing various formulas and then working on them.
Kkb's comic interludes, light hearted nok jhok makes it different from the other soaps. Yes it has had its share of melodrama but I don't think Ekta is going to introduce a rape track in the show, she is a smart business woman and knows the pulse of the audiences , kkb keeps people entertained and makes them laugh after a hard day of work , thus the high trps. So don't fret guys!

Well said Neha!!! Thank you for explaining it this way. The unique tone of KKB opens up some possibilities and keeps others constrained. We have seen rape storylines woven in along the way - Neil and Bulbul, Aaliya and Purab - but they were among the least popular sub-tracks, and at any rate it was stopped before it happened. Important to remember what the nature of the show is...and that will let you know what it is likely to bloom and what can only fail to sprout.

KKB never has shown something truly horrific or a truly tragic situation. Like Abhi's baby thing with Tannu is fake, Aaliyah tried to kill but did not kill anyone, Pragya's MMS scandal was fake.. so there is a lot of hype with everything but nothing is so bad that it changes the mood of the show or characters in a big way. And rape won't serve a big purpose here either for story telling and stretching. I mean I have heard rape is used to make the woman shunned by families etc (as awful as it sounds), but here Mehras (Daadi and Abhi) love Pragya very much...so do the Aroras.. and moreover Pragya does not need this for all the rejections and problems she has faced throughout. It would be truly awful on her (not that it's any less awful on any other heroine).

Yes i agree about the sub plots like alia -purab , neil-bb .they are Ekta's tried and tested tracks but she realised that it was not going to work with the tone of the show so she cut them short.

I remember one rape track in ekta's previous show, she puts such angles in saas bahu shows where the saas fights against the prejudice so that her bahu gets justice...such a track would be out of place here.

Glad to read this post! I thought KKB was romance, drama, and humor.
In the mahaepisode, there were quite a few dances on 'aurat' themes. I don't know if that's a common thing in mahaepisodes but I was wondering why. Does that have anything to do with women's issues? Or foreshadowing?

Another thing that bugs me is why Abhi gets a lot of pressure about not praying to god. It his beliefs, na? I hope Ekta doesn't put obstacles in his life till he surrenders to god! Losing his money is one test on that path.

My point is I hope there won't be tracks to test his faith through tragedies. That'd be devastating on so many levels. I hope I'm wrong.

Prani, nudging Abhi towards faith is part of AbhiGya's broader story arc. She's supposed to bring him down to earth and loving her leads him to respecting faith more. One thing I noticed...Abhi is still skeptical God exists and isn't willing to give him credit for everything, but now he refers to the divine as Aap instead of Tum. I think he had a scene around this time last year where he was raging at an idol in a hospital. Contrast that to his mental monologue at the end yesterday and the change is huge. The reason why this is included is that this is a show that reinforces conventional morality and values. It is not as heavy handed as other shows and so far Abhi gets to be way more independent than his counterparts - but in the long run you should expect to see him being tested, and his relationship to faith evolving away from his initial harsh stance.

Completely agree that's part of the story. That's to be expected from Balaji Telefilms!

Bold - I think that's what I'm hoping it'll be. That Pragya's love will lead him in that direction.
He's mellowed a lot and that says a lot about him 😊. My hope is that KKB will handle spiritual growth in a person comes through love than tragedies!

Thank you for this post and I hope CVs do take time to understand what works on this show.

It's the funny banter, the incredible chemistry and a certain naivety of the show that keeps us hooked. We do not want the main leads going through something as horrific as rape. This is not why we watch the show.

KKB takes us into a world of their own and though this world isn't perfect all the time, it's a safe world. I don't know if that makes sense but it's the only way to describe it. The brutality of rape is not what the audience wants to see so PLEASE do not go there CVs.
