Chapter 2Immediately after Aaliyah walked away to her room, Abhi's eyes went back to the direction in which he had sighted Pragya. She was nowhere to be seen now and he suddenly felt sad if she had indeed left for her home. Yet his heart gave him hope that she could be in his room too. He didn't waste a second to reach his room to check. But his heart sank when he sighed at the sight of his empty room.
He contemplated if he should go to Pragya's mother's house and talk to her. As he paced around in the corridor he sighted a suitcase by the seating arrangement they had near the stairs.
His hopes raised immediately and to his relief he saw Pragya's small frame sitting on the large chair.
"Fuggy", Abhi almost screamed.
"I am just trying to decide..I am thinking..", Pragya sounded quite unsure. And Abhi decided he was going to take full advantage of that.
"Do you remember I took your bullet in the jungle?", he asked her out of the blue. Pragya looked at him in surprise.
Abhi slid the other chair to sit near her. "Do you also remember I helped you out with KB hall, your mother's treatment, Bulbul's accident etc.", Abhi asked seriously.
"Of course I do. How will I ever forget ..", Pragya tried to understand what he was trying to say. Abhi had never mentioned such things to her before.
"So, in return to all that, can I ask you for a favour?", Abhi asked straightforward.
"I can do anything for you. You don't even need to ask or quote the things you have done for me. You just need to tell me", Pragya said sincerely.
"I was playing safe. Here is what I ask from you. I know that you are considering leaving this house forever and going back to your mother's house. But before that, I ask you to stay with me for a week. I know our marriage, our relationship, and your time here was not worth anything, but you will not deny that both you and I were there with all our 100% in our nose button games, in our random arguments.. and in our lies to our elders. For those times, I want to celebrate whatever that was for at least a week. So, you gotta stay with me for the next seven days. Do you agree?", Abhi put forward his plan.
'I would like to live with you till my last breath, if only you allowed that' thought Pragya. He had asked for a week. She found no reason to deny him that. She was glad he recognized a part of their bond the same way she did.
"I will. Of course I will", answered Pragya after a moment of thought.
"That's my Fuggy", Abhi got up and extended his hand for her to hold.
As she held his hand, he took her suitcase in his other hand. He guided her to walk inside his room and he followed her. He closed the door determined to do everything in his capabilities in that one week to make her stay with him forever.
