I had the same question, and I'm kind of confused why they didn't have enough context toward it. Probably because she was really sad seeing Abhi's hand bruised. It's like she felt for him. That's why she was like "they must have hit you a lot." She couldn't see him in pain. Idk why she didn't bite the rope though.

The way the ropes were tied around their hands... it's not that difficult to escape them. Abhi was sitting down, so if Abhi would have gotten up, he would have more moving space, thus his hands could have reached each other. And there we go... that's how he could have untied himself and helped Pragya too.
