Hi All,
I don't watch KB as regularly as most of you here, but I tune in every now and then.
I wanted to make a post here on how outlandish this show is and how inconsistent the story line is. I suppose this is signature EK.

Please note the thoughts here are simply my personal opinion - i don't mean to offend anyone's sentiments here.

When KB started it was all about Pragya - the well educated, hard-working, sincere, compassionate woman with the guts to speak her mind. I liked her - I liked how she turned the tables on her would be in laws in the pilot episode when they were trying to force her mom to give them their marriage hall. It was all so promising till it went south.

It really irked me that Sarla would fret so much about getting Pragya married - is that the only aim in a girls life? It's not like Pragya was out on the streets - she was well educated and had a job - if she decides to get married or not - why can't that be her choice? Why must she be pressured or feel pressured to say yes to marriage just to please her family?

Ok so marriage one gets called off, then she gets engaged to her best friend geeky professor and neighbor next door - who is secretly in love with her baby sister. Pragya finds out and calls off the engagement - now this part I don't recall clearly perhaps someone here can answer this. Did Pragya's family every know the reason behind Suresh and Pragya calling off their engagement?

Next we have Bulbul - who magically falls in love with her boss - Purab after despising him. How utterly cliche but she can't be with him because Purab is technically promised to Aliya. Ok Purab's mistake - he shouldn't have been getting involved knowing he's been promised to someone else or at the very least be honest with one girl (Bulbul) if not both (Bulbul and Aliya). Of course logical actions are asking too much.

Pragya gets married to Rockstar Abhi who marries her under a mistaken identity aka assumes she's the girl Purab loves to avenge his sister's wishes. In what world does any of this make sense? Pragya never clarifies that she's not Purab's lady love. When Abhi does find out - she gets into more trouble.
Now Pragya has apparently fallen in love with Abhi despite his constant rude behaviour towards her. Where is self respecting, gutsy Pragya now? All Pragya does is cry buckets - i love abhi, he doesnt love me, let me make him happy by leaving him. Oh right now that she's finally found her tongue she wants divorce - not because she wants out of a loveless, disrespectful marriage but because she thinks this is what Abhi wants. Newsflash he never wanted you around to begin with.

Now back to the whole MMS scandal - no one bothers to figure out who made the MMS and how. No one wants to think of motive. No one wants to put in enough effort to prove Pragya and Suresh's innocence. Instead focus shifts to Pragya accepting her defeat and leaving Abhi.
Abhi on the other hand decides not to let her go without having her marry the nerdy professor who is in love with Pragya's baby sister.

Raj was in jail - weren't they trying to get him out? Seems like no one cares about this part anymore.

Sorry guys - just had to vent - i just find it frustrating that production houses and channels waste money and talent by making illogical storylines which inherently convey mixed messages, promote wrong social messages (sure suffer in silence you will be rewarded for ur patience - don't worry about standing up for whats right) which in turn are keeping the bar pretty low when it comes to expecting quality television. PH and channels don't need to raise the bar because this is selling - its up to us viewers to demand quality content. Soaps can be fun and entertaining with drama and all but not at the cost of insulting the viewers intelligence.

Just my 2 cents - do share your thoughts guys!

You sound as frustrated as i feel. Just dont watch... read ... some of the forum members have strong hopes for this mad man. Maybe it might just work out as they see it.

I agree completely with everything you said. 👍🏼
Honestly though, most people watch it because they still hope for something better. It's quite pointless really though. This show is far too gone to turn for the better.

Very good post 👏 I really don't know how Abhi and Pragya can be together after this. Abhi has gone past the point of no return. He's said and done some really hurtful and hateful things. What kind of woman would take back a man like that ( a despo or a low self esteem person)? Where do you take the story from here? Another person for Pragya for now and then 10 years later after both Abhi and she are widowed, they realize they were meant to be. 😛

Thank you all for your response! It's nice to know I'm not the only one who thinks this is beyond absurd and probably past the point of no return.
At every point with each developing track we think - ok maybe this will clear everything up - Aliya and Tanu will be exposed, Abhi will realize Pragya is not at fault and perhaps be civil or at the very least treat her with some respect. But alas - every single time this show goes further down the rat hole.

Just on a slightly different tangent - KumKum Bhagya - this concept was what? The concept was "jiske naam ka kumkum wohi maang mein sajega" or something to that effect - right?
Basically saying you will end up with the person you are meant to end up with.
How different from Pavitra Rishta where you stay connected to the one you are tied too even if you are physically distant...

Sorry guys I know we shouldn't be comparing shows but since both are EK creations I couldn't help but point out that ALL her shows start out with "unique" "fresh" "captivating" concepts but at the end of the day they are all the same - Guy girl meet (circumstances and context vary) they either do or do not take a liking to each other (context and circumstance variation) somehow they end up in love (after a bizzillion miscommunications, misunderstandings and drama) depending on the show the confession part/realization of love happens prior to or post marriage. Then comes the big M - marriage. This happens with trememdous fan fare - that is provided they actually do get married. The other option is they are in love pining away but circumstance (Read vamp) does not allow this to happen. After loads of heartache and drama they do get together until vamp strikes again to ruin happy married life. More drama - seperation, misunderstanding, crying maybe a few generation leaps etc and then finally magically 2 weeks before the final episode all misunderstandings magically clear up, vamps accept defeat, everyone apologizes and they all live happily ever after.

EK - time to change it up. Though i must applaude her team - they seem to be experts in marketing because they manage to repackage old wine in new shiney bottles (Read bigger grander sets) and milk money.

I feel the same way about KB. I don't watch it much at all, just read updates every now and then to see where the story is leading to.
I stopped when I felt the Abhi-Pragya marriage wasn't making much sense. I'll even give them the reasons for marriage. Abhi wanted to eliminate the supposed 'threat' Aliya had (why society thinks the girl must have 'pataofied' their man/son/bro and so eliminating the gal will solve the problem, I dunno). I'll even give Purab-Bulbul their love story - it wasn't so bad - kinda cute and sweet. But Purab messed up - and many, I mean many, lives are paying the price. Pragya, Sarla, Bulbul, Suresh, Abhi, Aliya, Dadi. Had he had the guts to do the right thing, this wouldn't have happened.

But then, we wouldn't have our KB ...

My beef - how illogical is Pragya's staying in this marriage when the mother is aware of the issues? How illogical of Abhi to not kick her out and explain things to Dadi, if he truly hates her so much? How illogical of him and her to fall for each other given that she rejected Suresh when she found out he was marrying her out of pity AND that he loved her younger sister? If she could 'un-love' Suresh (coz she did have a thing for him) because of his decisions, how can she love Abhi given HIS decisions.

And Abhi - God I love Shabbir, but this character is weird. Nuff said.

And Pragya - her silence, and weird antics and lack of anger/righteous indignation makes me not watch this show. That alone makes it very difficult.

I love watching Pragya-Abhi together so sometimes I go and watch the SBS/behind teh screens and on-locatin videos.

The story - it's weird.

BUT

EK does have good concepts. I loved Bade Achhe Lagte hain till about the 2nd time they geared for a leap. I absolutely loved Tere Liye and Kitni Mohabbat Hai 2 (didn't watch the first one). And I absolutely adore Yeh Hai Mohabbatein. For the most of these, they've had very very strong female leads, and consistent characterizations. They were lovely till they did multiple leaps and stretched it like bad chewing gum.

So I don't think it's EK or BT. However, KB is weird. I couldn't get myself to like the characters. The story had a lot going for it when it started. I love Mrunal-Arjit and Mrunal-Sureh and Shabbir-Sriti pairs' chemistry. I dunno what and where, but they're missing things. I think it's part story, part lack of proper attention to details and gluing it all together, part lack of proper characterization.

But then, I'm no producer/directory - so what do I know :). I just don't watch this anymore ... But would love to - if it just picks up ..

I agree - a waste of great talent. The actors are awesome.

-S

P.S - Forgot to add my biggest question - WHY the heck is Pragya agreeing to marry Suresh when neither her, nor Suresh, or anyone from her or his family want this wedding? WHY? WHY? A strong person like her, heck even a meek person would not agree to this or let it happen. And she's just standing there letting Abhi take off the manglasutra and PUTS on the bridal attire and walks to the mandap? I mean really?

I get updates of the show via SBS/SBB. Even that is difficult to bear except for the leads off screen moments.
I saw today that Abhi will get to know the truth at the nth hour and 'accept' her back in his life. Mahaan of him. I guess this would be a good time to show him the finger and walk out, Pragya. And what about the sis and ditz? They get shown the door or hang around some more?

Otherwise, where's the 'fun'?

It's bad enough to watch Abhi walk, talk, dress and behave like a teenaged jock. At least the two dttzy girls provide some unintentional fun when their plans go awry. Hope they stick around.

EDIT: Just read the above post...forgot about the way Abhi readies Pragya for the marriage...makes one wonder how far he went in dressing her up...and all those romantic poses before the mirror..what a farce! And did I see Pragya give the guy a tight hug in the middle of all this.

Pragya has officially become a puppet. Oh! How the mighty have fallen...Ekta pick yourself off the ground and set things right, Pronto!!
