Abhi's conflicts and Pragya's understandable gratefulness

From the last few episodes, this is what I am deriving out of these two characters.

Abhi

When Pragya was thrown out of his house by Taaliyah, Abhi was a bit taken aback. He had been talking of taking her out, but he wasn't patting Taaliyah's back saying "great job, guys!". And of course, he was imagining her in her element in his room. She is so etched in his mind that he hates it!

And he is doing what he can for her mother's health hanging around at the hospital. He got the doctors to treat Sarla quickly using his rockstar perks and his aggressive attitude. He then hangs around Pragya, tries to see her through the window, breaks vase in frustration- even though all he does is to taunt her. Why does he want to tell her a hundred times that their relationship is over? Was there even a relationship to begin with?

Or it seems more like he is telling himself that he needs to move on from whatever he had started to feel for her. He is telling himself a hundred times because he is finding it hard to move on from her.

That's why he said he feels helpless around her.

And when Daadi asked him to just say a sorry he goes to hug her not giving one thought that his girlfriend is watching right behind. And he had to squeeze her tight to tell her he is so angry with himself for hugging her!

Today, he assures Sarla in the most convincing way that he is like her son! Why overdo the "act"? Why also break a vase and tell Pragya they can't be together again? When were they together anyway?

I just feel Abhi is super conflicted in his emotions for Pragya. This is exactly why he does not want to even believe she is good. Although his Daadi told him the truth, he still wants to deny it. He is running away from the realization that he is connected to her and his heart might just want to stay that way!

How can he have this strong emotion for Pragya when he believes he loves Tannu and Pragya was just his revenge?

Now coming to Pragya,

The girl is in absolute distress. Before she worried her mother would have a heart attack, now it has all happened in front of her. Her worst fear has come true and it had sent her mother almost to the verge of death and brought her back from there.

We have to understand that Pragya grew up without a father. Her mother was her everything. When you grow up with one parent, you get attached to them all the more because you feel alienated from the world where everyone has a mom and a dad. I don't even want to accuse the poor girl of anything at this point. Her mother is her life. So is the situation for Bulbul. Losing a parent is so terrible and the scare is worse. Here these two girls just have one parent.

Like Abhi, Pragya also feels connected to him. While she knew very early that he will hate her and going to humiliate her, what she did not know was he has this adorable ability to make her smile. He could talk to her non-stop, he could bother her, annoy her and even be caring to her (didn't he come running when he thought she had an accident?). And she knows he hates her and not her family unlike Taaliyah who have an agenda against anything associated with her.

So, yeah the girl is only grateful to him that he's been there for her taking responsibility of a son in law for her mother even though he might be faking it.

And does she not see his conflict? Of course she does!

Pragya is not in her strongest situation now. On one side, her dearest mom's health is in trouble and on the other side, her sham marriage is coming to an end, which would only result in further deterioration of her mother's health. The girl is somehow holding up and taking things as they are coming.

And her gratefulness towards Abhi is not uncalled for. Anyone would be grateful if helped when your dear one is ill, and when Abhi is helping despite his declared hatred for her, she would only be all the more thankful.

She is thanking the small mercies God is giving her amidst everything going wrong in her life.

👏

Twin the way you have written it down !!!! Wow
Perfectly portrayed!
Abhi - Yep HE WANTS TO BLAME HER BECAUSE HE CAN'T DEAL WITH THE FACT THAT HE DID ALL THIS TO SOMEONE LIKE PRAGYA AND HE ACTUALLY MIGHT CARE THATS WHY HE IS PUSHING HER !!!!

Pragya - SHE SEES HIM AS A FRIEND , now and SHE DOES GET HURT WHEN HE DOES NOT TALK TO HER PROPERLY AND THATS A CONNECTION SHE FEELS , she is thankful to him right now and does feel bad for the whole mess and hiding the truth to him

Thats her nature she cant hold grudges but what will happen when tanu drama occurs ??

Pragya is not a doormat she just is indebted currently to him'

ALSO , I LOVE THAT THEY ARE NOT IN LOVE YET!
I WANT THEIR LOVE TO BE REAL AND VOLUNTARY NOT BY GUILT OR FORCE

ALSO I WANT ABHI TO HAVE A MONOLOGUE NOW LOL LIKE AFTER HE DROPS HER HE THINKS HE IS GONNA BE HAPPY BUT HE MISSES HER LIKE THE SCENE I WROTE IM STILL WAITING FOR LOL
AND HE ACTUALLY ABSORBS IN WHAT HAS HAPPENED !

Totally agree!
I feel like Abhi knows that Pragya's not at fault for anything but he's mad at himself for what he has done and is just taking out his anger on her. In any case, Abhi needs to grow up and redeem himself but I don't see that happening any time soon -_-

The nuances that Shabbir and Sriti bring about for these characters perhaps meant this way that things between Abhi and Pragya are beyond the obvious chaos in their equation.

Love the way you have put this Tia.

I might be the only one that actually isn't getting frustrated with this show. Personally, I believe that Abhi's character is very much redeemable when compared to other male leads. Pragya's character is also stronger than most heroines we see on television, hence I don't feel like they are a lost case. If there is no variation in character, there is little to display and discover. Also, since this story has been based on Sense and Sensibility I feel it necessary to have all this drama because Jane Austen's books revolved around drama more so than romance. It was conflicting emotions and characters that made her book more interesting even though the plot line wasn't so adventurous.

The nice part about Abhi is that he takes responsibilities of Pragya's family. He really doesn't have to. He has an excuse to hate her family along with Bulbul and can easily get away with it in society. But he does and that's why Pragya feels grateful. She knows that Abhi isn't hell bent on ruining her mother's life. He was not a part of the conversation that Tanu had with her mother, instead it was all Taaliya.
She's in a vulnerable phase right now where the most important thing to her is her mother and I think that even if Aliya or Tanu had done something for her mother she would have been grateful to them as well. It's just her state of mind at this fragile time.

Abhi is amusing to watch at the moment. The confusion stage has begun and until he doesn't clear that up, he will pent out frustration. Living with a person for some time, even if you claim to hate them, does bring in a tiny bit of attachment. Even when a person you pester leaves, you feel the void. His feelings towards Pragya are no different. He feels the void and is unsure of the reason behind it.

All in all, I'm not as displeased with the show as the other members but that's just my opinion at the moment.

thank you Inferno!! in totally agreement with all you said, and you articulated some things i've been unable to put into words. abhi NOT tarring all of pragya's family with the same brush is a major point in his favour. heroes usually aren't so discerning.

and lol about his confusion stage. yes, the seeds of attachment have certainly taken root...sorry to mix metaphors, but watching how he deals/fails to deal with this void will be fascinating indeed.

Amazing post Tia. Abhis state of mind you have written perfectly
There is a inner conflict going on within him. There are some emotions for her which he want to brush up. Also him saying so many times that their relation is over looks like he wants to convince himself that its over n he has to move on. He himself said it when he was sitting in the hospital. Pragya not in a state to think anything at present as her worst night mare have come true. So other than anything she is grateful to him that he saved her mother n taking care of her family.

Thanks Inferno. I share your feelings very much. I am not displeased with the show either. In fact I was enjoying Abhi's frustration for his conflict. I have no serious complaints against Pragya either.
Abhi is very much redeemable and he has just begun!

And like you said, Pragya is indeed in a fragile state of mind! I got to give that to her and even BB.
