If my mother's life really hung in the balance, I would jointly with my siblings (have none so hypothetical) do this and more to save her life. I wouldn't care about my happiness and would hope my sister didn't care about hers either, for our mother's sake.

Would feel terrible for my sister but if I knew my husband was going to ditch me anyway, I would not allow my sister to give up her happiness but barring that, I would do anything to save my mother's life.
