What you have outlined is the typical soap plot,...possibly successful and hence followed by every other show...

but I so hope that KPji does not go that route...he says he wants to be a leader...not a follower of trends...I hope he keeps to his promise and avoids the cliches...and comes up with something truly and refreshingly different!
