Why did Ashu not break up with Mallika?

Okay, the question that begs to be asked is, when were they ever on for them to break up? However, most people, including your truly, have, in response to Deepa's post, felt that Ashu is partly responsible for Mallu's OCD...he did not discourage her sufficiently and so on...there has been extensive analysis on why Mallika clung to Ashu and refused to let go..

However, what were Ashu's reasons for not letting her go? This was no friendship with benefits...at least not those kind of benefits...so what were the tangible benefits that Ashu gained from the relationship that made him unwilling to let go? Of course the most obvious reason has already been given by KPji...their soulmate connection...but was that all...?

Let me start with a list of benefits..


1. No need for a bodyguard - Ashu did not have to hire a bodyguard to ward off unwanted female attention...Mallika was far more effective than Salman Khan, the best bodyguard of them all...and even better, he did not have to pay her...Female repellent she is!

2. Winter clothes - Ashu did not have to invest in winter clothes...he could share Mallika's coat...or, at worst, they could split the costs if they had to buy a new one...

3. Car pool - While people thought of Ashu as her unpaid chauffer, the truth of the matter was they had a car pool arrangement,...that is they would pool fuel and maintenance costs..

4. Free food - The world thought Ashu was an unpaid handyman at Mallu's place...what they did not know was she served him free food...if you had tasted Hiraman Kaka's food, you would understand what this meant to Ashu...

5. Beethoven - All Ashu's previous girlfriends had dumped him after being quizzed on Beethoven's symphonies...Mallika was the only one who would listen in rapt attention as he lectured her on Beethoven's history..

6. KGH - The pay at KGH was rather poor...Mallika was the only senior surgeon willing to work for what he was paying her...

What do you think? Do these reasons justify Ashu's stance? Or anything else that I have ignored/ or am unaware of?

Okay...I have to add this..

7. Doubts on orientation - After all these years of bachelorhood, there were whispers on Ashu's se***l orientation...Mallika's presence served to put an end to the gossip!
