Ashutosh punishing himself and Nidhi!

When I watched Ashutosh behave the way he did yesterday, I got the feeling that he feels guilty for having fallen in love with Nidhi...he perceives it as a crime he committed against his best friend...if he had not done that, Mallika may not have married Jagan and possibly wouldnt be where she is...so effectively his love for Nidhi is the root cause for this...I trace this feeling back to an earlier episode where he told Mallika he would have fallen in love with her if only his heart were to listen to his rational mind...subconscioulsy he possibly felt Mallika more suited to him in every way...he is quite entitled to feel that way...just that he should have probably let Nidhi know his thoughts so she could have made an informed choice..! Now both he and Nidhi have to pay the price for his having listened to his heart rather then his mind...!

mallika married jagan when nidhi and ashu broke up..he had a choice then to marry coz all assumed he and nidhi had ended..even then he made the sane choice of not marrying her bluntly told her too..she went ahead and married jagan even after ashutosh warned her abt him...so it was mallika's choice which she had to suffer...

i do not think ashutosh feels even alittle guilt of marrying nidhi given how goes abt romancing her when in private ,how he to an extent cares abt her

yesterday he was not guilty rather very sad and disappointed for having failed as a friend and having to send her away..he was angry at DB for questioning his integrity and he was to an extent mad at nidhi for telling the truth...he was tormented more coz of the choice he had to make...

for all we know she may not be faking it..and if she is not ..it is inhuman sending her away to strangers given that she trust no one and she was the one who stood by him thick thin for 12 years...a sense of obligation masks rationality and that is what happened yesterday...he is punishing himself but seems to be in denial of the fact that when he does that nidhi gets the hurt and pain associated with it

he is being insensitive towards her coz of his over concern for mallka which is very wrong...but there is no doubt that he loves nidhi and is secure in it very much ...

I am not saying he does not love Nidhi...am saying that he is subconsciously feeling guilty maybe for the choice he made...he has in the past too recognized that he has no control over his heart...you are very right in saying that Ashu did not take up Mallika on her offer even after he broke up wiith Nidhi...he simply does not love her that way...but he cares very deeply for her as a friend...and somewhere there is a guilt in him and he does seem to hold himself at least partly responsible for her state...with regard to his romance with Nidhi, if you notice he is able to romance so long as Nidhi is sensitive to his relationship with Mallika and his care for her...the moment that is questioned, it is back to cold shoulder...the implcation is that he needs to feel that he is doing enough for Mallika for him to be able to romance Nidhi with a guilt-free mind...if that is the case, we can infer that he holds his love for Nidhi in some way responsible for Mallika's state...so the success of the Ashni marriage hinges on Mallika's wellbeing and the status of her relationship with Ashutosh...and yet the same Ashutosh did not even bother to try and find out what had happened to Mallika after she left with Jagan...if she had not returned, he would have carried on with his life quite easily..it is only her return under circumstances that have woken up the guilt within him...the dichotomy in his characterization is stunning!

P.S - Given that we don't know that Mallika is faking, it is inhuman to dump her on strangers...I completely agree...but does this justify the way Ashutosh is currently handling the situation...does it have to be all or nothing...he is a doctor himself...is giving in to the patient's every whim the way a doctor treats him/her...but yes, he was clearly torn yesterday...am not saying he is wantonly punishing Nidhi...but he is not recognizing the fact that in punishing himself, he is hurting her manifold...his indifference to Nidhi's pain and POV is what irks me...even his decision to send Mallika to the asylum was a kneejerk response to DB's and Nidhi's words...it was not well- thought..he was simply acting that way to make a point of respecting Nidhi and DB's wishes...and the worst part is he does not even know if this is what Nidhi wanted!

I second you Sun..Ashu loves only Nidhi..he is feeling guilty to see Mallus mental condition and Physical torture..apart from that he is clear that he loves only Nidhi...

they are hardly a month into marriage..it is soo unfair throwing this bomb soo early in their relationship even before they could build a strong foundation for their love...
