Really, I don't see what this "social disapproval" angle is all about. Men have been marrying women less than half their age ever since the institution of marriage took root. I can understand a family's apprehensions about an older man. But to claim social disapproval is blatantly unrealistic. In the greatest Indian romantic novel, Devdas, Paro marries a much older man whose SON is mature enough - at least in the Sanjay Leela Bhansali version - to lust after and plot against her. And that marriage has the complete approval of her family and their society. Paro's is not an isolated fictional case. Since the beginning of time, women in India - as in many other cultures - have been handed over in perfectly respectable marriages to old husbands when fathers couldn't afford the dowries needed to snag young sons-in-law, or couldn't find suitable young men within their caste or class. This isn't some ancient practice: it happens to this day and age, both in urban and rural situations So why this huge "moral" chest-beating to-do?

Also, I've read quite a few complaints about the lack of chemistry between Nidhi and Dr.A. But of course... hey, they've been dating for over a month now, and HAVEN'T EVEN HELD HANDS?? OR GIVEN EACH OTHER ONE HONEST-TO-GOODNESS I-LIKE-HOLDING-YOU HUG? Of course, that may be because Mohnish Behl has recently been oozing all the smoldering sex appeal of moldy cheese...

👍🏼 WORD

@The Hai-tauba on age... well honestly.. considering the changing trends in society.. its definitely not something to be made an ISSUE out of... but daily soap hai... to drama to banta hai..boss! 😆

I think.. if they had shown the professional background n shown Nidhi as an INTERN falling for her BOSS.. that did make more convincing reason for SCANDAL *or so called* ...!!

Good post.. 😊

yaar yehi baat to hum kub se keh rahe hai, but the real reason in, this thing happen in our socity, and what ever happen to our socity u can make movie or serial out of it, aur 2ndly who ever gone through this situation thay only know what they r went through, so in KTLK they r just showing this,,... aur jo nahi guzre hai is muqam se unhe yeh sab bateen ordinary hi lagegi na yaar? and as armu said coz it,s a serial so there should be some mirch masala otherwiae hume khud pasandh nahi aayeega, agar tv me wohi dekhne ko mile jo asal zindagi me hota hai to kisko accha lagega? so little bit of mirch, little bit of masala more then daily life romance, a hero as yr boyfriend, some one who will fight with u till d end, daily life me kabhi kabhar dekhne ko milta hai,... so it,s no such moral fuss, it,s a incident which happenedin our socity and how people deal with it...

I know "Age difference "marriage do happen now and KTLK just tells whats the problems it creates between two couples and family and also provides a solution that "Age difference "do not actually matters but its the "Love" and Compatibility" .

I am not against it but there are serials where multi marriages take place.. KTLK is probably better than those dramas.

Also just place urself in shoes of a father as Yograj and then as a middle class family try to think of your daughter's future. You will always give a second thought to her decision.

Agree. Even I do not understand the fuss. I dont know whether it is a coincidence or may be I am paying more attention to age aspect but of late I seem to be coming across a lot of recently married age-gap couples. Not 18 years but in 12-15 years range. And one noticeable aspect of the age-gap marriages I have come across is that both the partners are highly educated and attractive. They could have easily got a partner of their age. I am inclined to think that after a point intellectual fit matters more than age fit.

agree to the moral fuss.. infact i wonder why of all the ppl Dadi bua is making a fuss out of it?!😕 like my Maternal Grandparents had 20yrs of age difference.. It May Not be a common thing now but Dadi bua ranting on that is something i feel is soo over the top! I though agree that every parent would want a equally young n understanding groom for his/her daughter..

Agreed to to the Point. But you see that the Marriages in previous Days with Age-Gap were mostly arranged.Now-a-Days 5-6 years are naturally seen even 10-12 years gap are easily available. But 18 years Gap are really rare now but not totally absent even among the Urban Middle-Class.A just Adult Girl gets Married to 30+ WELL earning Guy.But in this type of Love Relation,it is the problem of the pairs. If they are comfortable with each other then I don;t think Family would react with so much screaming.Yes,their some apprehensions are OK but if the Couples are Matured to take their own decision and can give all the answers of all concerns,it is not a big deal.In AshNi case, perhaps Ashu has passed 40+ years already,it is a matter of concern more than Age-Gap.That's where the Debt of their Love is lied.

Sure it is nothing new that a young girl is married off to a older guy by family's choice. and also many times by their own choice. my own mil is 12 yrs younger to my fil, and my granny abt 14 yrs younger to my grandpa. that was in yesteryears the matches made by family. It is not so uncommon among celebrities even today. bruce willis at 58 has a 33 yr old wife, demi and ashton might have separated but still were married for a while, amrita singh and saif.
even on telly this is not the first time they are showing it.
But these days the family themselves finding a guy twice the age of their daughters is quite uncommon. and in nidhi's family may be no one has ever been married off to a guy their age in recent times and mandira is the one who has broken that norm. Like mandira like nidhi will be their fear. I agree with shibz and swastikashni, the parent's concern here is natural. But DB overreaction is a lil over the top. she has always been since the start of the show, so we can say she is in sync with the character. The character of Nidhi ever since after finding a partner in Ashutosh has not deterred till now. If she gave into doing medicine to please her father, it is testing time to see if she will remain unfazed by the family pressure. To be frank if someone in my family wanted to marry a guy who is twice their age they too will face the same tune. kuch toh log bhi kahenge aur family bhi.
