Sonakshi's depiction

I am so genuinely disappointed with the way Sona is being portrayed. As a viewer, I loved watching Devakshi together, even while they were having their worst fights.

But this seems so forced. They have made alterations in everyone's character, with Sona being made very insecure wrt Suhana and her position in their lives. So much so that she seems to be losing objectivity, the sense of right and wrong. I am sorry, Sonakshi was never like this.

Sona was scared post leap, that if Dev found out about Suhana, he would take her away from her. But yet, she never let her insecurity come in the way of the Dev-Soha bond. And now this.

Literally everyone is harping on her to bond with Ayush and she is coddling Soha. The writers are making it so hard for the audience to connect to her. Why aren't they doing a better job of showing that she is trying to bond with Ayush? Like that snowman sondesh scene? Why not include more such scenes and then show that she is still insecure about Soha? That she is trying but scared.. That would make her far more relatable.

I thought only character development was dumped this season, but I am starting to feel like, the core character traits of the leads are also being changed.

Is it just me so disappointed?!

Post leap sona was not this scared bcoz, soha would b going to her father. There will be someone to take care of her. Here incase they send away, as sona said soha will not get anything n she will loose everything. I feel her insecurity is correct.

And I agree with you that they need to show us, she is trying to spend time with ayush too not just saying what all she is doing. But then, how cvs will show eshwari pravachan? Also I feel they cut few episodes for trp sake. We were supposed to get devakshi scene after 16th episode. But we might get next week only.😆

Here all characters basic nature has changed. So, we cannot really think sona shd be like this.

I mean she is trying and it's very unfair that people are saying that she isn't doing anything to spend time with Ayush, would she have made an effort to make that snow man for him? The only difference is she is doing it for both Ayush and Suhana while everyone else is doing it only for Ayush, they only care about Ayush, his needs and getting him to bond with the family. Why is Ishwari who herself used to discriminate between her children is lecturing Sonakshi over this? And Sona's insecurity is not wrong, her behaviour is understandable and so are her fears.

Right. I can see her point about being worried about Ishwari's over-possessiveness.

What I am having an issue with is, the makers need to show more scenes of her bonding with Ayush rather than just making her say, I am trying. That way, her POV will be more balanced and audience will be able to understand and connect with her insecurity.

They aren't showing her angle that well, imo.

I guess, that justifies all of Sona's fears and insecurities because of Ishwari. It's all coming true.

I agree on the character development part. But I can relate to Sonakshi's fear. In S1, Dev was her father. She was scared that Dixit family might try to snatch Soha away from her, but she knew how to fight that. She was ready with lawyers if anything such happens. She was secured in the knowledge that she has legal rights over Suhana & most probably Dev wouldn't be as heartless as separating the kid from her mother.

But Soha not being her biological daughter here changes everything. Sonakshi right now have no legal rights over Suhana. If Suhana's real grandparents want her back, she will have to. She can fight legally, but the future is uncertain. On top of that Ishwari can very well side with them & actively want to send her away. And this time she cannot put her trust on Dev that he would protest, because of his own attitude. So this time she is truly in a sticky spot & she is very very scared.

And honestly, how will she bond with Ayush? She wanted to give him some space, some time to adjust & then try to bond with him. But Ishwari & Dev are hovering over him 24x7 & have already scared the poor boy to an inch of his life. And even if Sonakshi tries to intervene, Ishwari doesn't let her. Ishwari gives her lecture on how Ishwari is the best mother & Sonakshi isn't a capable mother, so Sonakshi should just shut up & let Ishwari do whatever she wants to do. Ishwari gave her the typical "pehli baar baccha nahi paal rahi hu main", "pet bhar gaya hota toh mujhe pata chalta" drill when Sonakshi was asking her not to overfeed Ayush. Ishwari stopped only when he threw up & didn't even think how big a fool she made out of herself by serving that baccha palna taunt to Sonakshi. Sonakshi & Ishwari's parenting style is completely different. Sonakshi believes in giving her kids space, scope to adjust & taking care of them when they need her to. Ishwari believes in continuously fawning over her favourite kid, controlling every aspect of his life & totally suffocating him on the name of love. So even if Sonakshi does try, it would be invisible to Ishwari & she will keep continuously belittling Sonakshi.

You are not alone, many fans who watched previous seasons are also disappointed, including me.

Am not a person who takes either FL or ML sides and justify; i know all characters are flawed, but, that century old patriarchy and khoon ka rishta mindset is plain horrifying to digest in this day and age. 😐🥺
