Why Not A Complete New Story?

I was just wondering.... since they couldn't retain the original writing team, why the makers didn't think about starting afresh?

I believe writers make or break a show. Actors are important, but writers are more important. Right now they have got a completely new writing team who are struggling to match up to the previous seasons. And I don't mean standard wise. I mean story continuity wise. They are showing stuffs which don't sync in with what has been shown in previous seasons & this new story renders a large chunk of the previous seasons meaningless. Instead of trying to stretch the story, which had ended well, why didn't they come up with new story?

I mean something like Kitani Mohabbat Hai did...(few more shows also did I guess but I can't recall right now). Retain Shaheer, Erica & Supriya ji. Even give them the same names, but change their characterisations, background story etc & start a fresh new story? That way the new writers didn't even need to maintain any continuity, no pressure of living upto the expectations & could show what they could come up with freely.

I was very excited for season 3 to be a continuation, but seeing the state it is in right now, now I feel like it would have been better had they completely rebooted it. There's a saying that do not mend what's not broken. Maybe they should have left the previous seasons as they were.

Personally, I think it could have been refreshing to see Sonakshi & Ishwari being the mother - daughter duo this time around. Ishwari's background could probably be kept same & Sonakshi could be her only daughter on whom she is completely dependent. Sonakshi also content with her life with her Mom & not expecting much else from life. Somewhat like Deepika's character from the movie Piku.

Dev could have a happy supportive family like the Bose family this time & Devakshi could have a different dynamic this time as Sonakshi could be the nay sayer now & Dev the ever optimistic one.

Lol this is just a story I randomly cooked up (no rotten tomatoes please), but I am sure had they thought of starting afresh, the possibilities would have been endless for them. Right now they are trying to work through a pothole patching method & still giving a bumpy ride. The writers are not comfortable stepping into someone else's shoes & are not able to work freely as the previous story put in many restrictions & now they are just smashing them down.

What do you think? A fresh new start would have been better? Or do you like this season as it is?

I agree! The promos looked so promising. But, I was still super skeptical about digging old graves. They showed everything possible the previous time - all separations and reunions. Trying to get into that again, is spoiling what was already there.

I was actually looking forward to a new story. When I saw the first promo, I thought, this is a new story where DevAkshi have been married for a few years (with a normal background, not the eight year separation one of the previous season), then drift apart. Here the fact that they got together after 8 years and have suddenly drifted apart 2/3 years later seems disheartening and SAD.

Plus this whole Suhana not being their child. I only saw one scene, but I felt the disconnect so much. The previous Suhana - Dev-Sona bond was so amazing and cool. I can't believe Dev spent so much energy and time and effort bonding with his daughter, only for the daughter to NOT be his. That's sick and pathetic of the writers. In fact, even the same story without this child swap would be nice.

Agreed, new story would have been far better..if we see sony channel trend for season 2 of krp time frame serials. They brought edkv 2 with complete new story with new set of actors and beyadh 2 - only Maya jennifier retained.. Both didnt work on TRP chart..This might be their experiment continuing story where they left from season 2. I knew KRP season will back as edkv/beydadh were came back with season 2. Looks like they planned limited series on OTT so might have given new writters chance..decision might changed and decided on TV.. May be they take decision based on TRP or response of fans to continue or not..Actors confirmed they signed for limited series.. Its definitely wise decision on channel point of view as shaheer and erica are highly paid actors...

PH might have not given importance on detailing of show as it is shorter version, they just got actors and shooted best possible way during covid with available writters or plot..it look like kinda decision on business point of you, if people welcome this season they may continue and sign actors for a year -whatever contract..

Krpkab was going to be OTT ..I think if it had been OTT they wouldn't have brought kids angle only Devakshi..but I think they wanted to test whether the show will garner trps do they decided on TV .

I agree. New story would have been much better. Dealing with marital lull after some years, saddled with kids and responsibilities, hence losing the spark. It would have been a good subject.

Even if they didn't want a whole new backstory, they could have continued a new story after Devakshi wedding. Simmering tension between Ish-Sona, Dev-Sona not as connected as before, kids taking up all their time. Years have gone by. Dev still worships his mother at a pedestal, Sona has her own career and striving for a home-work balance. Then, if they announced this baby-swap business, I would still be able to take it in stride. Things coming to a head with this huge revelation.

This way, timeline would have made sense, everyone's character development wouldn't have gone down the drain and Suhana being a spoilt brat would be more plausible, considering she has been Ishwari's apple of the eye, all these years, getting whatever she wished for!

Just my two cents!

When I heard the news of season 3 coming for the first time, I badly wished for a new story with the same cast but alas.

The charm of original story was ruined in season 2 itself.

I didn't realize this would be a finite series. Do we know how many episodes/months it's meant to run for?
